The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph and attempting to accelerate to 55 mph, the engine started choking, and the vehicle lunged back and forth, and slowly lost drive power. The vehicle was driven to a local certified mechanic while driving at slower speeds. The certified mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the active fuel management (afm) and dynamic fuel management (dfm) systems had failed and caused the engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact that Chevrolet vehicles with similar engines were known for engine failure. The manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

2 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2026

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power and stalled in the middle of the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated with the message "fuel low" displayed. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road, and the contact later returned to the vehicle and added a small amount of fuel to the fuel tank. After starting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally and was driven to the residence and parked. The following day, the vehicle was started, and the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was half full. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with fuel pump power control module failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump power control module needed to be replaced. The fuel pump power control module was replaced. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 71,969.

3 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while in park(p), he observed a gasoline odor. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, he observed a gasoline odor entering the cabin of the vehicle through the vents. The contact exited the highway and pulled over, examined, and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000.
