1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2026

On 2-23-2026, while traveling at highway speeds on the freeway, the front upper and lower a-arms (control arms) suffered a complete structural failure. This caused an immediate loss of steering control, forcing the vehicle off the road. By sheer luck and reactive maneuvering, I was able to avoid a multi-vehicle collision; however, the failure resulted in over $4,000 in mechanical and body damage.

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2024

I purchased a used 2021 Chevrolet silverado from a dealership 5 months ago. Almost immediately after purchasing the truck, I would hear and feel an intermittent pop that originated from near the floor of the front passenger side. The sound became more frequent and would happen mostly when making sharp turns but also when making softer turns. I took it to the dealership to investigate. They had it for a week and supposedly examined the entire vehicle. They were able to replicate the pop sound when driving it but were unable to diagnose the problem. They claimed that sometimes trucks just make noise and assured me that the vehicle was safe to drive. I asked how they knew it was safe if they didn't know what the problem was and how was I to know that whatever is causing the sound isn't causing internal damage. The service manager again assured me that the certified mechanics looked at every detail of the vehicle and found nothing to be concerned about and sent me on my way. After taking the truck home, I continued normal use of the truck, taking it on 3 long distance trips on the highway. The sound continued as it had before, occurring intermittently when turning. 2 days ago, I was backing out of my driveway. I heard a very loud pop and got out of the vehicle to find that the front passenger wheel had completely broken at the ball joint of the control arm and was lying nearly flat on the ground, held suspended by the brake line and cv boot and other attached components. The truck was towed to the dealership, where it currently is. The service manager told me that the mechanics did everything that they were supposed to have done and that unfortunately this is a mechanical part that can fail and that he has seen this issue in 7-8 other vehicles like mine. If this is a common problem, there should have been a red flag when presented with this issue. If this would have occurred on the highway at a high rate of speed, my family and I could have been killed.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2023

I went to dealer for an oil change last week. They told me the left front shock had a minor leak and they would be ordering me a new one. After arriving home I noticed that the passenger side shock was also leaking. On 11/28/23 the truck went to the dealer to get both front shocks replaced. Upon arriving home after the new ones were installed I looked at the shocks and noticed the passenger side was leaking fluid to the point it was puddling in my driveway. The fluid was pissing out from inside the shock. I began taking photos and videos of such. My wife is 22 weeks pregnant and this was in needed stress for her. Not only did the brand new shock fail but put her and my future baby at risk.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2023

So I have been having issues with my truck losing oil. My dealership told me that walmart made an issue with the oil filter causing it to leak oil out. After the dealership corrected the issue. I was on my way to the store this morning it was damp so I was having a lot of traction issues. Got to the gas station checked tires, no issue with them. Temperature is above freezing. Just thought maybe it’s in my head. Well I get about 2 miles from my house and low oil light comes on again. So this is an issue. It has happened 2 times to me. Had I not been cautious I could have slipped off the road or had a collision because the oil mixing with the water on the roadways. I will be reaching out to my dealership tomorrow to try and get them to correct this issue again. Seems there is a service bulletin on how to tighten the oil filter. Because of oil leaks.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2022

Engine valve lifter failure at 20,000 miles; engine hesitation and power loss. Error to parking brake and to electronic stability control. Chevrolet to replace damaged lifter but refused to replace both banks of defective lifters. As a result of dysfunction I was stranded 1200 miles from home and have been waiting 2 weeks for repair. Still 1200 miles from home with 2 kayaks, 2 bikes etc.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2021

I lost control of the vehicle when the road became bumpy. The vehicle was bouncing up and down pitching from side to side. I was driving the posted speed limit. This happened on the day I bought the vehicle and I was on my way home from the dealership. At first I thought the vehicle was acting like that because it was new. Nope. It's real. The truck bounces and pitches hard every time I hit a bump in the road. I even drove back to the location where it happened on the first day that I bought it and sure enough the vehicle acted the same way. The entire truck shakes and bounces violantly when I go over bumps. I'm talking about every thing. The second thing is that when the vehicle warms up it starts humming like an electrical type of hum or noise. The humming is coming from the passenger side of the vehicle and I can hear even when I'm standing outside of the vehicle on the passenger side. The transmission slips when I slow down and speed up again. The vehicle that I am driving is dangerious and shouldn't be on the road. City street or highway doesn't matter in my case. The truck will violently shake at the posted speed limit.
