And coming to a stop light, inadvertently the front driver side wheel detached from the vehicle, which led her to collide with a vehicle that was parked on the right side. As a result, all of the underneath of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the wheel flew away and fell in front of the drivers who were attempting to turn to the right and also caused a collision. There were no warning lights illuminated, and no strange sounds were noticed before the failure. The airbags in the vehicle failed to deploy. There were five people in the vehicle during the incident. The contact and his wife suffered from injuries in the chest which required medical attention. The contact also stated that his daughter suffered from chest pain and his grandson from knee pain. The other people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, and they were only interested in getting paid for the damages. Spare tire and owner's manual provides conflicting, dangerous, and incomplete information. Numerous times the owner's manual warns of numerous dangers about mixing wheel and tire sizes. Yet this truck is equipped with four 275/60 r 20's (20 inch rim) and the spare is 255/80 r 17 (on a 17 inch rim). There is no "t" label on spare. The spare (maxxim) is labeled in black "temporary use only" but no information can be found as to what this means. The owner's manual says that this spare (even though a different wheel size and tire size) can be driven up to 70mph (55 towing) for unlimited time/distance (time and distance is unspecified). The owner's manual does not clearly say that this a "full size spare" or what constitutes a "full size spare. " this conflicts with the manual's numerous warnings of numerous dangers of driving with mismatched wheels/tires. The dealership was no help.
