Recall remedy was performed just a few months prior didn't even make it through the life of the oil and the 6. 2l l87 is seized up per Chevrolet dealership in chelsea michigan.
Took my 22 silverado with the l87 engine in for the recall. The dealer stated that my vehicle had a tick in the motor but it passed the pico test. They switched it to the 0w40 oil and stated that my engine will probably blow here soon, but until that happens there hands are tied. Today I took my truck in for another inspection because my motor had a very loud tick noise almost sounding like metal on metal, they stated they did not hear anything and without more proof nothing can be done. My safety is very much put at risk when I report something to them thats happening with the vehicle, and if my motor blows while im driving 80 mph I could crash into others or even die myself. My transmission is also having problems of what I would call bucking when you put it into drive, I also filled up with gas last week shut my truck off pumped gas, got back into my truck and started it, went to put it into drive had no power shut it off and did it again, I had power but my rear wheels were locked up and wouldnt budge. Shut it off turned my truck on and engaged the 4 wheel drive, and then disengaged it, still not able to drive. Shut it off and put it back into drive and the rear wheels were able to drive normally. Dealership says theres a recall on the transmission to add a spacer plate so it was ordered. This issue needs to be taken very seriously this is why they say theres only 3% motors affected is because they decline the motors that have actual problems but its still running so to them its fine.
Low engine oil level appeared on my 2022 silverado ltz with the 6. 2l engine for the first time of ownership. The truck is on the first 0w40 oil change performed for the engine recall with 42% engine oil life left. I get the oil changed around 30% left. Up until this point while running the 0w20 this hasn't happened. I'm now concerned that because of the oil viscosity difference that this may become an on going issue.
2022 Silverado 1500 ltz w/6. 2l 38082 total miles. First engine replacement due to seizure at approx. 17,782 miles around June/2025, the vehicle lost all propulsion and stopped running while sitting at a stop sign at a four way intersection during a really bad thunderstorm, luckily the intersection was on a declining hill and I was able to coast it into nearby parking lot . I'm a senior citizen with a replaced hip and couldn't have gotten it out the roadway otherwise. Contacted gm through the app. To arrange service and tow. The tow couldn't be completed by the assigned wrecker service because it was busy with other tows because of the severe storms. The following afternoon, it was towed to the local dealership for service. It took approx. A week before I was finally informed that the engine seized with explanation. . Repair took just over 3 months to complete under warranty/recall at dealership, didn't get vehicle back until the beginning of September 2025. Engine replacement inspection passed by GMC on the recall inspection at local dealership. Oil changed from factory 0w-20 to 0w-40 around January or February 2026 if I'm not mistaken. Driving down the highway on 06/03/2026 and all the sudden loss of propulsion. Zero warning! lucky I was able to coast onto an exit ramp without getting in an accident with hwy. Traffic! luckily I was able to find a church parking lot and asked a person that I knew to give me a ride home. Because it was after business hours, I waited till the local dealership opened the next morning and spoke with service personnel and they arranged a tow to take it to the dealership. As of the end of the business day 06/05/26 I have no word from dealership on the status of vehicle, but the vehicle experienced the same symptoms, a sudden total loss of power and no start, just a single click and no electrics. I feel that the inspection testing and oil change does not address and/or fix the root cause of these engine failures.
New motor put in due to drive train seizing up sept 2025. “oil pressure low” and died while stopping at a red light in may 2026. Would not crank back. New motor only had 40k miles. Supposedly gm will not cover tow or rental.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
2022 silverado with 6. 2 l87 engine was taken into a chevy dealership to have recall check on engine. Pico scope was used to inspect engine and no issues found. Oil was upgraded and oil cap replaced. A week later traveling many hours from home the engine suffered catastrophic failure and has now been at a dealership for the last seven weeks waiting for a replacement. There is no eta for a replacement.
I was accelerating to onto the freeway to merge and my engine suddenly made a loud noise and my vehicle immediately lost power and the dashboard alert lights began going off to service engine. I was able to get to the edge of the highway and make it to the next exit to slowly make my way back to my office to have my vehicle towed to a garage. Luckily I had not fully merged into traffic when my vehicle suddenly slowed. There was heavy semi-truck traffic which they would not have been able to avoid rear ending me. The garage confirmed that a cylinder blew causing the drastic drop in power and speed. It has since been towed to the dealership to have their service team diagnose the issue after my usual independent mechanic had found the problem.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced catastrophic engine failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. Before the most recent failure, the contact heard an abnormally loud clicking sound coming from the engine and returned to the residence. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine lifter failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,000.
A lifter has failed on the driver side of the engine. Dealer is going to replace the bad lifter, but I’m worried about all the metal debris that has been put into the motor, especially after the recall for the bad crankshaft bearings that could cause it to lock up at any time. There was no warnings or check engine light if they’re just had a very bad tick all of a sudden.
While driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of propulsion. The engine began jerking and the vehicle rapidly decelerated from highway speed (50 mph) to 10–15 mph. The transmission appeared to disengage or shift to neutral around 10 mph, and the vehicle was unable to maintain speed, creating a hazardous situation in traffic. The vehicle then shut down and displayed a message to restart the engine along with a check engine light. When attempting to restart, the engine would not turn over properly and produced a loud clicking/struggling noise, similar to a failed or seized engine. The vehicle was towed and is currently awaiting diagnosis at a dealership. This failure occurred without warning and created a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power while driving.
No warnings, just took it in and failed test. Waiting on engine replacement over two weeks with no idea when itll be taken care of. Only around 8k miles.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly decelerated, lost automotive power, shifted to neutral, and then shifted into park. During the failure, the contact depressed the brake pedal and pressed the start button for approximately 10 seconds to restart the vehicle. The failure had occurred five times, and the contact was able to reset the computer and restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil, and the transmission was shifting hard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the engine in the vehicle was a replacement engine. The dealer had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
Vehicle developed engine ticking/tapping noise followed by rough running and misfire condition. Independent repair facility performed engine teardown and found cylinder 4 exhaust camshaft lobe severely worn/damaged. Repair facility stated the exhaust roller follower/lifter needle bearings failed and fell out, causing the roller to seize and come off position, resulting in improper valve operation and cylinder malfunction. Vehicle lost proper engine performance and required major internal engine repair including camshaft, lifters/lash adjusters, and roller followers. Failure appears consistent with gm preliminary information bulletin pip5847b for 2019–2024 Chevrolet silverado/GMC sierra 2. 7l l3b engines describing exhaust roller follower bearing failure and camshaft damage. Concern is that sudden valvetrain failure could result in loss of power, engine failure, or unsafe driving condition.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 72 mph and towing a trailer, the vehicle stalled while on the off-ramp. The vehicle failed to restart with an abnormal clicking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the rpm was elevated. The contact was unsure if the sound was coming from the vehicle or another vehicle nearby. The message “engine oil hot - idle engine” was displayed. The contact had previously received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
Mccredy motors replaced the engine due to a recallin 6/2025. Husband was driving from our home [xxx] to town and we had made it to [xxx] . Husband stated there was no warning, no engine light, no oil lights, no indication of over heating. Just a loud clunking all of a sudden, nocking, grinding and crackling. Husband immediately pulled over left the truck over night at the greene town barn and we called in the morning to have the truck towed back to mccredy motors on the morning of 4/4/26. Reading up on this I have found the even after the recall and a new engine customers are still having catastrophic engine failures. This is absolutely what I feel we are currently experiencing. Mccredy motors will diagnose on Monday when the certified chevy dealership opens. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Camshaft and lifters and push rods.
Engine died hard to stop with no power stopped vehicle in middle of intersection .
My engine shut off while driving down a highway. I had to coast into an uneven, steep ditch. If someone would have been behind me, it could have caused an accident. I have the 6. 2 engine and followed the recall instructions. Dealer said motor was fine and around 7,000 miles later it failed. The oil weight change is not fixing these issues.
Truck went in for the recall around Nov/Dec 2025. Passed recall for 6. 2l crankshaft and new oil was put in the vehicle. Today the truck lost power while driving and the check engine light came on to include a message saying the transmission went out. The vehicle is now un drivable and with a Chevrolets dealership waiting to be fixed.
Lifter failure at cylinder #6 causing cam shaft damage.
I was driving down the freeway at 75 miles an hour. All of a sudden the press start popped up pulled over. On the shoulder and the motor would not start.
My coolant control valve has failed, the dealership is saying the radiator is now leaking at a weld. They said this is a know issue, but are refusing to repair it. It is caused by the know failing ccv, causing the radiator to overheat.

The transmission died on my 2. 7l turbo max engine in my 2022 silverado. The "d" was flashing and giving no acceleration when pressing on the gas. The vehicle was also hard to shift. From my understanding the 2. 7l turbo max is the only engine in this time frame that hasn't been re-called due to transmission issues.
6. 2l engine had complete loss of power while traveling down the highway. Vehicle began to drive rough snd dash suddenly said shift to neutral which I did. After shifting back to drive I had to coast to a shoulder and wait for a tow truck. During repairs vehicle was returned after 6 weeks and engine replacement. 24 hours after receiving vehicle I hit the push to start and vehicle was dead. Replaced battery and lights came one. Hit push to start and it killed all power. Towed back to dealer. They checked connections and tightened box on top of battery and returned vehicle. 72 hours later check engine light came on and vehicle went into limp mode. Drove it back to dealer. After a week they located chaffed wiring on the harness leading to transmission. Was told it is a common problem on the 6. 2l engines.
L87 6. 2l engine failure after doing recommended recall for a different oil.
2022 Silverado 1500 6. 2l total engine failure, replacement needed.
The truck is jumpy during stops. I get a low voltage code but the battery is fine I had it checked out. Reduced acceleration has been activated and after I turn the truck off it is fine. The check engine light comes on and turns off on it's on sometimes same day. I know there is a recall on certain 2022 silverados but they told me this one wasn't on the recall. It did have one for the brake system they said.
The engine seized while at highway speed in traffic during evening rush hour. The engine failure has been confirmed by a gm dealer and is set for replacement. There was no warning or indication that total engine failure was imminent.
While stopped at a stop light engine quit running and after three attempts to restart mil appeared and stated low oil pressure. Safety hazards included; being stuck at an intersection blocking traffic and putting myself at risk of being rear ended. Was below freezing temperatures and stranded for an hour before tow arrived gm dealership found engine to be bad and needs replaced.
While driving on interstate the screen said press button to start and the engine turned off on a steep uphill. After attempting to restart I tried to safely get to the shoulder without causing a wreck. This left us on the side of interstate for hours on a blind hilltop with trucks coming feet from us. After towing to the dealership they notified me that the engine was done and it fell victim to the recall that chevy just had on the 6. 2. Mind you I had already brought this truck in for the recall inspection and it supposedly passed.
Truck shift irratically and engine revved high and engine oil too hot message came up. Truck started to shut down on highway at 65mph pulling trailer and side by side in traffic. Once stopped truck would not restart. Engine oil temp was pegged too hot. Had to have truck towed.
