Onstar isnt working the clock wont stay on time the telematics control module went out on a brand new truck just past the 36,000 mile warranty.
The def guage does not work properly. After topping off with def the guage would not register being full. Also the guage would read over half full and within minutes I would receive a notification that the truck was going into limp mode due to be out of def. Happened several time while on a trip. Also truck went into limp mode while def was full.
On 1/24/26 I used the remote starter to warm up the truck and it started but within 3 minutes it shut off. The temperature was in the single digits. So I tried the remote again and it wouldn’t start. And the remote start hasn’t worked since and the check engine light is on. Two years ago when the brake module failed right before that recall the temperature was very cold that day too. Just two months ago the check engine light came on and that time the dealership said the battery failed . It also printed out a whole page of errors , at the dealership.
I am sending this email to report that my 2023 Chevrolet silverado had its rear brakes lock up momentarily on consecutive days (1/13/26 & 1/14/26) driving 70-72 mph. each occurrence came on without warning and only lasted a brief moment, but locked up hard enough for my rear wheels to screech and slam me forward in the truck, thankfully there were no other vehicles near me. I took the truck to the dealership first thing in the morning on 1/15/26 to be informed later that day that the truck didn't show any codes. the service department at my dealership contacted the tac dept. At gm and they determined that the problem was caused by the brake light wiring from my truck topper (that was after they asked if the customer had added any accessories to the truck). I have had the topper for 3 years without any issues. I reached out to the company that installed the topper and the owner said that gm is giving me the run around and trying to point the blame elsewhere. He himself has installed 100's of toppers and they follow the wiring instructions from leer toppers. He did a 30 second google search and said [xxx] , the problem you have experienced is well documented online, gm knows what the problem is with your truck". my truck was at the dealership for 5 days before they released it to me, even after I told them that there are known and documented cases of their trucks experiencing momentary rear wheel lockups. I have called gm customer service twice and left messages regarding my truck and tac # and haven't received a return call. I am fearful that when this happens again and if it does so in the wrong place at the wrong time the end of this story may be tragic. if I was pulling a trailer, driving on ice or in rush hour traffic I can't imagine the outcome. gm knows they have a serious problem and they is comfortable in releasing a dangerous truck back onto the roads. While driving the vehicle the tailgate came open by itself. I had left my house and when I arrived at my friend’s house to pick him up the tailgate was down. I closed the tailgate and while driving a driver honked their horn to alert me that something was wrong. When I pulled off the road the tailgate had come open for a second time.
The vehicle 'turned off' while in motion at around 35-40 mph on a busy 5-lane major arterial road in the city on 12/21/2025 at around 0630-0700 hours. Driver (author of this report) was able to turn into a side road and stop. Message "press start button" displayed on dash panel. Complying with this action led to a coughing start but vehicle could not be put into drive mode because a second message appeared saying "conditions not safe for transfer". Eventually over next minute or two vehicle coughed up to a start again and was able to put into drive mode and drive to parking garage to safety. Driver was able to drive back about 3 hours later with no recurrence or new malfunction. No warning lights throughout the episode. My Chevrolet mobile app also did not display error messages. Vehicle was driven (without incident) and delivered to a Chevrolet dealer on 12/24/2025 for diagnostics and workup and is currently situated there.
Yesterday I was driving and the pickup truck put itself into neutral and died in the middle of the road and almost got rear ended with my kids in the car. The car would not start again and no codes were given.
I was driving my vehicle when the check engine light came on and a message then came across the screen and stated the truck would no longer shift if I didn’t stop driving it. I took it immediately to autonation Chevrolet service on Nov 9. I received it back on 11/26 my service advisor said it passed inspection that no work was completed I needed to use high synthetic oil and filters for my truck to keep it going. This doesn’t sound correct when I’ve owned several chevy/GMC trucks. I only have 33k miles on my truck and want the recall fixed. Please help me get this taken care of. Onstar module not working. Stop working in October of 2025 after a software update.
It burns a significant amount of oil. I had an oil consumption test completed with a gm dealership, they state it is in their guidelines of standard. It burns around 2 quarts of oil within 5000 miles, so between oil changes. The add oil alert popped up while I was driving down the highway. My truck has 33500 miles on it, it should not be normal for a new truck to burn that much oil. They will not check my engine to identify the cause because they state it is within their standards.
Sometime between backing into my parking spot at work, then backing into a parking spot at the dentist, my tailgate released/lowered. When I backed in at the dentist, my back up camera seemed to malfunction, so I just used my mirrors. Apparently, the camera was just pointing at the ground. Sine you can't see your tailgate in the mirrors; I could not see that it hit the retaining wall at the back of the space.
I was traveling when on my dash came up "software update available" so I looked at how to and said truck will need to be off for 15 minutes during software installation so I decided to wait until I got home from trip. So on the moring of October 2, 2025 did the software update in my driveway. Then in the afternoon needed to go somewhere and I saw the service engine warning symbol on dash. Went to where I needed to go, 4 miles from home. Then when I was finished headed home and on way home warning on dash came up, "service transmission now unable to shift soon". So I got home and made some phone calls and ended up taking truck into polar Chevrolet, white bear lake, mn. Thursday before they closed. Friday October 3 got a call from polar chev and issue is "gearshit control module", part number 86515985. But was told part was out of stock and could take 1 week or even upto 1 month for them to get part. Looking on internet did see that this warning has come on from other people right after they did the software update. Needless to say my estimate for repair is going to be somewhere form $900 - $1000. So now have to wait and see when they get part and if it is actually issue.
Onstar module needs to be replaced and of course the module died right after the warranty went out. After research come to find out this is an issue with all GMC and chevy vehicles.
This truck has a problem where at low speed while turning left the engine surges and the truck speeds to 15 miles an hour unless I jam on the brakes . This started just turning left and now its starting to happen turning right . I had this truck to koons chevolet two or three times for this problem but it still persist to happen. This vehicle is dangerous.
I have had to replace 2 batteries due to the tailgate opening and shutting randomly even when parked, and ruining my batteries. You recalled the 1500 hd's for the same issue. . . But yet not this model when it's clearly happening to 1000's. I'd appreciate it being fixed.
Fire in firewall dash possibly brake control, battery and electrical fuse box.
Unknown…randomly started on fire after driving. Police report was filed under 25-000653/altoona police (I don’t have a copy).
Water found in rear interior of cab, water leak at rear sliding window. I noticed water spots on the left and right sides of the headliner. I took it to a dealer (malloy chevy winchester va), and the said it was a TSB put out on this problem and they would file a claim. The truck has 48000 miles and the bumper to bumper company denied the claim. Have the TSB didn't matter to them. Can you assist in any way with this?.
My onstar module stopped working on my 23 chevy silverado. I am planning a vacation and with out onstar I risk being stranded without this service. My wifi does not work I can not see the speed limit I am unable to contact onstar for help if needed whether that be for directions, or help if I have and emergency. I can not use the handsfree google assistant I took it to my dealer and when I took it I was 400 miles past the warranty. I was not aware of the issue until I tried the handsfree google assistant and if did not work.
The tail gate on my 2023 silverado has started to open on its own both while driving and while stopped as well as attempting to open every 3-5 minutes while the vehicle is off. I contacted Chevrolet after I saw there was open recalls for this exact issue to see if my truck was covered with this recall and to my chagrin it is not. But from what I read, this is the exact issue that other drivers of silverados between the years of 2020-2024 have been experiencing.
I was on expressway with the cruise set on 72 miles an hour I heard a loud clunk the engine, of course shut off I go down to the gearshift in the console. It said neutral so close it over to the side of the road got stopped as soon as our momentum stopped and we are completely at a standstill the truck put itself in park. I then tried to restart it and it wouldn’t do anything. I contacted onstar state in my situation and after multiple conversations with them, I disconnected the phone call and contacted my own towing service because we were 51 miles from our home and they would not tell the people there unless I paid for over half of it. They would only tow it to the nearest dealer. We have been a free customer since 1997. We or a family owned electrical contacting business. My truck is my office. I’m in 90% of my day. I elected to take it to the dealer where we purchased it, and we purchased a good portion of our vehicles over the years and helps that it would be repaired in a timely manner.
I was driving to work from livingston to bozeman and the roads were bad so I was only going about 60 maybe 65 which was reasonable for the conditions this day, and out of nowhere my truck locked up and I slid it directly into the center median.
Moter blew with 19,000 miles on a leased vehicle. Blew a rod out of the block and there was no warning light or notice at all. Almost got rear-ended. Took 3 months to replace moter. New motor knocks and ticks. . . . . . I also told them the 10 speed transmission slips between seventh and eighth gear they said there's nothing wrong truck still slips between seventh and eighth gear to this day.
I have a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the onstar is completely out the dealership say they have no idea when a module will be ready. I have talked to and seen several forums on this. Everyone states it’s a huge problem and now they want to charge up to $1000 to replace the module it is not covered by warranty. I cannot even use my navigation my security all the things that onstar provides due to this module problem they have it seems to be getting bigger and more widespread. We should not have to pay for something that has nothing to do with the warranty of the truck. It is a malfunction with onstar and Chevrolet.
The sound on the infotainment system, which controls the radio, apple car play and phone calls cuts out randomly and will not turn back on until the truck is turned off for 10 minutes or you pull over and park and do a reset in safe mode. This is a hazard as you can not make emergency call while driving or if you are on an emergency call while driving you are forced to go from hands free to holding your cell phone while driving. I reach out to Chevrolet several and brought the truck to 2 different dealerships and it is still not fixed.
Randomly several times a day the google assistant comes on unexpectedly and starts to talk, via the infotainment system. She says "I cannot do that but in the meantime you can. . . . . . ".
After repeated software upgrades, the infotainment system continues to drop bluetooth calls causing the driver to pick up the phone manually. System will drop the connection several times during a 5 min call. This causes the driver to get distracted. Radio system has been updated twice under warranty. Problem is still not resolved.
Forward collision system will light up and state it is not functioning. Will reset once truck is turned off for a bit. Stereo audio will intermittently cut out and stereo needs to be reset to hear audio again. Apple carplay will intermittently not connect.
The way the hood on my truck was designed should be modified. If the sun hits my hood it about blinds me, the glare is very bright. One time I couldn't see the road for a minute or two. The sun visor does not help or solve the problem.
Vehicle caught fire and burned up while idling at my babysitters.
No idea where the problem lies due to inconsistent trouble codes, the truck will randomly start jerking and sometimes kill itself after throttle won’t respond no matter the speed. Every time I’ve had somebody drive it, it does not act up for them. I’ve had several parts replaced with the same problem coming back 50+ miles later. When it gets ready to shut down it throws the check engine light, service esc, collision light, and traction light, then says speed reduced or speed will be reduced in 175 miles. I have video evidence of all of this.
The audio from the stereo will cut out for all services, fm, sirius xm, apple carplay , phone. It’s happened twice within two weeks. Once I reset the stereo in safe mode. , it works again.
Gm infotainment center unreliable and comes on when it feels like causing a panic while you are driving. I have taken it to the dealer twice and was told it is a known issue with no help in sight. The truck has less than 2000 miles on it.
Vehicle sways/wobbles on grooved pavement. Magnified immensely when towing a trailer. Threatens to pull you into other driving lanes. Service technician and service manager at dealership state it is a known condition with the type of tires Chevrolet has put on the vehicle and that Chevrolet is refusing to do anything about it. Multiple dates and is repeatable.
Vehicle experiences unexpected sudden acceleration, usually at low speeds. Engaging the brake will stop it.
