I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my 2024 Chevrolet silverado that resulted in a child being locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside the car. On March 25 2026, after parking and turning off the vehicle, I exited the driver’s seat with my key fob inside my purse, which remained in the front of the vehicle. I then walked around to remove my daughter from the back seat. During that time, she climbed into the front seat and pressed the interior door lock button, locking all doors. My daughter has autism and is not able to follow instructions or unlock the vehicle on command. As a result, she was locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside, and I was unable to gain access from the outside. The vehicle did not prevent the lock from engaging, nor did it allow me to open the door despite the key being inside the vehicle. This situation required emergency assistance (911) to safely remove her from the vehicle. I understand that many vehicles have “lockout prevention” features; however, in this case, the system did not account for a vulnerable occupant inside the vehicle. Allowing the vehicle to be locked from the interior while the key fob is inside—and without any external override—creates a significant child safety risk. I am requesting that Chevrolet review this design behavior as a potential safety issue, specifically: - why the vehicle allows interior locking when a key fob is detected inside - why there is no external override to unlock the vehicle when the key is present - whether a software update or safety feature enhancement can address this risk this is not just a convenience issue—it is a safety hazard that can lead to dangerous outcomes, especially for children or individuals with disabilities. Please confirm receipt of this concern and advise whether this issue has been previously identified or is under review.

Body problem #2

While driving on March 23, 2025, we heard a loud bang, we stopped at a gas station shortly thereafter and realized the tailgate had fallen open while driving and struck the trailer hitch. The latch/camera compartment were broken and hanging from where it struck the crank for trailer hitch and the tailgate was damaged (dented). It was taken to the dealership where they advised there is a recall on some models due to this same issue. They checked and advised our truck is not part of recall. We filed a pac claim with Chevrolet which they are declining to pay. The latch/camera is currently taped into place. It has fallen open while driving one additional time since the first event. We frequently carry things in the bed of truck and our safety and that of anyone behind us could be in jeopardy.

Body problem #3

The tailgate opens while I am driving. I saw this is an issue with other models but it has happened numerous times on my model as well. The computer system also malfunctions sporadically and the car doesn’t turn off.

Body problem #4

The automatic power running board of my vehicle has been coming loose. I took the vehicle to my dealership to get serviced. They said they tightened the bolts, and that the board is still loose. They also say there is nothing else they can do to fix the issue. This seems like a significant risk, as this component of the body of my car is at risk of coming apart further due to rattling while driving. I would like your help figuring out a safe solution.

Body problem #5

I had a car accident in mexico while I was driving inside the beach.

Body problem #6

The interior of the updated 2022+ Silverado 1500 and 2024+ hd silverado has multiple chrome surfaces lining various components of the dash and center console. When operating the vehicle during daylight hours, the reflectivity of the chrome reflects sunlight and directs glaring light into your eyes at various angles. This glaring and dazzling light reflection causes a direct blinding irritation to the driver that interferes with visibility outside of the vehicle and reduces the driver's ability to safely identify and react to changes in the roadway or surrounding traffic. This is an issue that is widely reported by a multitude of owners across online forums and social media groups.

Body problem #7

The dashboard is cracking and falling apart.
