Unknown Or Other problem #1

2005 chevy Silverado 1500. Bought brand new at the end of March 2005. Speedometer reads incorrectly. Sometimes reads 120, sometimes reads 90, etc. Etc. Etc. My truck has just over 72,000 miles on it and is less than 7 years old, but misses the VIN recall by 9570. This speedometer problem seems to be a popular complaint from what I see on the internet. Shouldn't this recall be extended to higher VIN numbers with the same exact problem???.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The speedometer on my silverado does not show the proper mph figure. It varies from 0 mph to 40 mph no matter at what speed I am traveling. This is especially dangerous when traveling the mass pike as I have no idea how fast I am going. Around city driving it usually stays at zero with an occasional spurt to 60. I cannot find a recall from Chevrolet regarding this type of problem but there should be. This is a manufacturing problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

My brake lines ruptured under the drivers seat by the abs box. I inspected all of the brake and transmission lines and they are all rusted badly and need replaced immediately. I was pulling my seadoo's when this happened and had to use the emergency brake to stop the truck. I have read a ton of the same complaints on the internet today. When is anyone going to make chevy replace all of the brake and transmission lines? this truck is only a 2003 and looks like a 1903 underneath. The whole frame and undercarriage is rusting badly. Please help. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

2003 chevy silverado - I have been having trouble with the speedometer fluctuating and oil pressure gauge going all the way up and all the way down. I did some research and found that chevy had a "special policy" which intels "this special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership". I have done lots of research and there is a problem with the "instrument panel cluster gauge needle function" in a lot of chevy's. That being stated why would there not be a recall on all?? I have only had this truck for around 2 years and never had a problem until now. The "special policy" stated "customers are being instructed to contact the dealership to arrange an appointment if they believe their vehicle has this condition". So the people that are now having the problem after this "special policy' runs out are having to pay around $385. 00 on there own to fix chevy's problem which I think is unfair. From what I was told by one of the chevy dealerships this is an ongoing problem they are having. Please help!!!!!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Went to stop for a vehicle turning left and had a sudden brake failure . . Unable to stop and drove through a lawn to miss rearending a car. First time noticed any brake problems . . Truck is now at automotive repair shop with one busted brake line and all five lines corrided and needing replacement.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

I was driving down the road in my 2005 chevy silverado with the ac on and the cab of the truck started to fill up smoke. The wires to the blower motor meted and started to burn.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4 wheel drive. Abs system activates when coming to a normal stop at about 5 miles per hour. This causes the brake pedal to push back your foot back and the brakes to release slighty. It happens intermittently and you never know when to expect it. No accidents yet, but I can see where this could cause many. There are also numerous complaints on the internet where other drivers of like gm owners are experiencing similar problems.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Reduce engine power message. 2003 chevy silverado. Driving down major 3 lane highway, message appears and trucks power goes to 15 mph. Tried to get into slower lane and off highway and was almost in a serious accident due to no power. Truck will not accelerate any faster than this. Has happened 3 times since. Major safety feature with Chevrolet. Other than dinger going off and immediately after that truck looses all power to accelerate. Can happen at any time. Codes are reading throttle positioning sensor. After doing some research on this it seems there are several other year and models doing same with people spending $1,000. 00 or more and problem not resolved. Has happened 3 times since. After unhooking battery for approx. 10 min. It will reset itself and message will be gone until it happens again.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Tire monitor light came on. Read, right rear tire low add air. Pulled onto side road to inspect tire. Tire was up on first look and placed my hand on tire to bend down and get a better look. Side of tire blew out , I ended up in ditch. Was not injured. After tire removed from wheel found much damage to sidewall inside and one hole in tread. Nothing found in tire that may have penitrated treat. Oem jack bent and would not rase truck.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

My truck as dual ac controles, while driving the driver side air blows hot air while air conditioner is on. If you turn the truck off and then back on it fixes the problem for sometime 2min and sometimes 30 min. I know multiple people that have the same problem as me, I have seen hundereds of people on forums that have the same problem with the same truck and others such as the tahoe, avalanche, suburban of same year and different years. Some forums that I have read stated that the truck could catch fire, I am very concerned about the situation, most people say that the parts to fix the problem are around $500 - $700, but this is occuring in hundereds if not thousands of gm vehicles.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck. Consumer writes in regards to deceptive purchase practices at dealer.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

The spare tire underneath the 2004 chevy silverado will not release from the cable mechanism when lowered. I was able to get the tire to lower approximately two to three inches but the secondary locking mechanism would not release the tire from the mechanism holding it. Searching many websites under the keywords "2004 chevy silverado spare tire will not release from mount" showed that this is an enormously huge and widespread problem for most models containg an under the vehicle spare tire mounting mechanism. I was fortunate that I was in the city when my tire went flat because I was able to call a wrecker quickly. But, for the times I am traveling on the highway this has made me come to the realization that this is an enormous safety issue. Why hasn't this design flaw been addressed by gm? it is now apparant to me this has been going on for quite some time. I firmly believe this is a safety issue and should be addressed by gm as a design flaw? in addition, it really should be an item that needs to be addressed by a nationwide recall. I understand that my vehicle is seven years old, but from reading the widespread complaints about this design flaw (not being able to release the spare tire), I felt it was important to report about the widespread failures in the mounting mechanism for under the truck bed spare tires.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Gm 2004 1500hd truck: gm can't fix the reduce engine power problem. The code that they can't fix keeps saying its the throttle body sensor. I have had gm dealer try to fix what this code is telling them but still have the problem. Based off research this is a major problem with many other gm truck owners. When this sensor light comes on & displays reduce engine power the truck basically shuts down. I've had this happen running in the left lane of a major hwy and almost got run over. Please have gm do something about this problem because I'm sure if it hasn't killed anyone yet it will. Only thing different between the Toyota problem and the gm problem is one speeds up and the other slows down to 20mph. As I have stated this problem happens a lot so don't pay attention to the incident date I had to enter.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

When braking at low speeds, the abs system engages and the vehicle does not stop where intended. This delayed braking can cause rear ending of the car ahead of you or unintentionally entering an intersection. The technical bulletin put out by gm suggests that the cause may be due to rust and debris built up on the senor mounting surface and includes instructions for cleaning. My mechanic followed these instructions and they did not work. The only fix for this problem is to replace all four sensors for a cost of well over $1000. Gm recalled 2001 silverado's for the same problem but then continued to use the faulty senors in later models and did not recall the 2006. The internet is full of 2006 silverado owners complaining about this very dangerous problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Speedometer. May go to 65 mph sitting still. Works periodically and then suddenly will jumpt to 90 mph. This is a safety issue - especially when hauling grandchildren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have emailed gm three times with absolutely no response of any kind.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Rear brake line over drivers side wheel rusted thru Chevrolet 1500 2002 4 wheel drive 4 door LS.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

Product defect.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Driving to work on I-80. Speedometer just went to zero. Stopped at rest stop and called my mechanic to ask if possible blown fuse. Was told that this was controled by computer. Needed to get to work and started again and speedometer was now working again. I now have a gps system that shows my speed because I cannot go 30 miles before my speedometer ether goes to zero or now indicates that I'm going 120 mph. I have a 2005 chevy silverado and was told that there was no recall for this problem but from what I have found on the web it seems to be a major problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I have a 2004 chevy silverado and the speedometer gets stuck on a different number every time I get in it. It never goes back to zero and I never know how fast I am going. I contacted a friend that works for a gm dealership and he said they had a recall on all 2003 and 2004 for this problem. So I took it up there and the man I talked to said the recall was only good for trucks under 70,000 miles. My truck has 128000 miles. But it seems to me if they knew it was a bad part and how important this part was it shouldn't have a mileage limit for a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I have a 2001 chevy silverado in which there is an abs recall on this truck that the chevy dealer took care of before I got the truck about a year ago I started to require more distance to stop because the abs was coming on thought it was the snow but then I comes on every now and then still when there is no snow or ice under the truck it seems to be coming on around 5 mph it does not come on all the time neither I have called chevy and they said that it has been fixed I think there should be a better more permanent fix other than taking the sensor out and cleaning it and putting some grease in it I have talked to some other people with same truck guess what same problem this is a relatively easy fix but I think this problem with the chevy should be looked into farther [xxx].

Unknown Or Other problem #21

I have a 2000 Chevrolet silverado that the service 4 wheel drive light comes on quite frequently when I am driving . I have had it looked at by the dealership I purchased the vehicle from and other auto service centers . They tell me they can not find a problem . I have learned from other truck owners that they have the same problem . I contacted Chevrolet and they say their is no recall . I feel with the number of people I have talked to that their is a problem with the push button electronic 4 wheel drive system . My friend recently purchased a 1999 and his is doing it to . Are you aware of a recall or problem with the system . At times my truck will not shift into 4 wheel dive. Please contract me . Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

The cable holding the spare tire on my 2002 silverado failed,my tire dropped from the vehicle and I initially thought that someone had ran into me. I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed my tire heading towards the side of the road. After retrieving the tire and then locating the other related hardware, I examined the cable and it reminded me of a previous failure I had on a cable that supports the tailgate in the open position. When the cable failed on the tailgate, I took my truck to the local dealership and they replaced failed cable, but let me know that there was a recall on the cables and would be asked to return and both cables would be replaced. I was called and the new cables were installed. I was told the failures had to do with a zinc coating either used or not used. I was curious if the same issue could apply to the failure of the cable that holds the spare time?.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

My 2002 chevy silverado has a no start problem. The truck has always started on first use but after it has been driven and shut off, many times it does not restart. It has happened in all types of weather and and even if only runs for a short period. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. After the truck sits for about 2 hours, it usually starts again. I have taken it into the chevy dealerand the starter was replaced. This did not cure the problem. Several months ago they replaced the parking switch and connectors. The problem is still occurring and more often. I have taken it to the dealer at least 5 other times and they cannot identify the problem. I cannot drive the truck without worrying that I will be stranded everytime I turn it off.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

First incident replace rusted rear steel brake line $150. 00 12/05/2002 76977 miles second incident replace rusted front steel brake line at abs unit $170. 00 7/27/2009 97,733miles luckily I wasn't moving. Why does the manufacturer want to save money at the expense of someone's life.
