The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 extended cab. On April 18, 2007 the pitman arm snapped while making a left turn at 10 mph, causing the vehicle to veer slightly into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was towed to a local Chevrolet dealer. The police arrived, but no police report was filed. The dealer stated that they had never seen a pitman arm snap unless it was involved in a major accident. Also, they stated that there could be a defect in the pitman arms. The contact stated that there was no major accident, structure, or body damage. The manufacturer claimed that nothing could be done, and advised the contact to consult the owner's manual. The contact would have to pay $400. 00 to have the pitman arms replaced. The vehicle has been at the dealer since the failure. The current and failure mileages were 150,000. Updated 06/08/07.
