1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2012

Took vehicle in for service and was told that a exhaust manifold bolt was broken. Vehicle warranty had just expired and repair would be about 900. 00. I researched this issue online and found that several other people have had this same issue with their gm product. This should be investigated as a possible recall. This being an emissions issue will cause my vehicle to fail the emissions test and could possibly cause exhaust in the passenger compartment.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Exhaust manifold bolts broken on 6. 0 liter engine, 2 on passenger side, 1 on driver side, causing exhaust leaks and service engine light. Possible fire hazard as exhaust gases entering underhood environment, and definite emission problems as O2 sensors incorrectly sensing diluted exhaust after leak in system, possible fuel mileage affected. .

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2011

On Dec. 23, 2011, I took my silverado into joe firment for an exhaust leak (which is an emissions problem), so I wanted it fixed immediately. They found nothing. On may 22, 2012 I took my silverado back to joe firment for the 3rd time for this same issue - exhaust leak. At that time they had found one broken bolt on the exhaust manifold (actually there were two broken bolts that I found personally upon further inspection). My warranty covered the manifold but had just expired on may 7, 2012. I asked that they honor my warranty since the problem has been there since 2011, but they failed to diagnose it. Joe firment refused to honor my warranty. I researched this issue online and found that several other people have had this same issue with their gm product. This should be investigated as a possible class action suit. How many similar complaints are on record? this being an emissions issue will cause my vehicle to fail the emissions test required to renew my license plates. This needs to be corrected and should be covered under my original warranty since the problem began within the warranty period. The dealership should have diagnosed it on the first appointment for this issue.
