The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes failed to operate. The service trailer brakes warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000. The VIN was not available.
Service trailer brake system message came on. Next day chevy found "circuits rubbing on bracket. . . Repaired, covered harness with conduit. . Repositioned away from e-brake. . . " dealer found chevy doc#2491825 that warns the dealership of "wiring chaff concern ear the e-brake pedal" but no notice was sent to owners. Truck manual on page 3-37 says to take it to a dealer if the message remains on after the ignition is cycled on and off. Message did not return, but took in anyway. Chevy dealer said computer records show this condition was detected a number of times but we received only one single message on the digital information center. A brake system failure while RV or commercial towing downhill or on wet roads could lead to catastrophic results-owners should be notified and affected vehicles inspected.
Brake failure on two occasions,second failure resulted in vehicle damage.
