1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2026

My pickup truck has a duramax diesel engine with a cp4 diesel injection pump. That pump has not failed yet in my truck. However it has been known to fail in numerous other gm vehicles with duramax engines and when it does fail the engine comes to a complete stop and cannot be restarted. This is a potentially hazardous even fatal situation. Repair if the pump fails is very expensive - $12,000 to $14,000 in some cases. I would like gm to replace the injection pump at my dealership to ensure this known failure does not occur. My pickup truck is otherwise in excellent condition.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2022

Fuel pump failure while driving highway speed 70mph pulling a trailer. Engine light came on and engine went to limp mode for a few seconds then completely shut down without warning while still going at least 60. Lost power steering and power brakes. Service center confirmed the code for "low fuel rail pressure" and did the repair. I have retained the cp4 pump for analysis. I was very lucky to not crash my truck.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle entered limp mode with a warning message indicating how many miles before the vehicle would independently turn off. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that the diesel exhaust fluid (def) tank needed to be replaced; however, the failure returned. Over time, the rear brakes, rotors, calipers, and various other parts had been replaced; however, the repairs failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2021

The crank shaft broke at 130k miles and this becoming common to this year and model. The mechanic who has the same truck could not fathom this catastrophic failure at such a early life in this truck. This repair is estimated at 5,000. 00-10,000. 00 and if this does not work the durmax diesel motor will have to be replaced.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

The fuel injection pump malfunctioned causing the truck to shut down going down the highway. It was taken to a professional and was confirmed to be an issue with these vehicles. There was no warnings at all. The cost to repair was $8000. 00.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2019

When engine is cold you can smell exhaust fumes . Studs in engine are broke. Smelling fumes is not a safety issue ? one other thing the battery distribution block was bad and gm knows its bad, they built a new . The truck shuts off wile driving, or does not start till you hit it with a hammer.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

Truck was parked and turned off, a fire started under hood causing damage to engine compartment, usaa insurance notified, truck taken to master GMC in augusta GA, around 40,000 miles and all stock no modifications made.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2017

There definitely a problem with the def & emission sensors on gm's duramax engines. 4th time engine unexpectedly reduces engine power while traveling at highway speeds. Results in sudden speed reduction which is extremely dangerous in almost any driving environment. These "reduced engine power" modes related to monitoring diesel emissions will get someone injured or killed (if it hasn't already).

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled and shifted into reduced power mode. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the vehicle was a diesel exhaust fluid build-up which caused an extreme burn in the exhaust fluid. The dealer replaced the def system and exhaust lines to fix the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 280,000.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

I bought this truck brand new. I started having problems about 2000 mi. The truck has a miss and jerks under load. It has been to the dealer twice and they tell me the computer doesn't show any trouble codes so there is nothing they can do. Also on occasion the ignition key is hot to the touch. Now I have to take it in again because the brake petal might fall off. What a great product. . . Gm I think builds a lot of these problems in to save money without a care for the customer. Now I have to drive a $46,000 piece of crap thats broken. Our hands are tied and at the mercy of big business. Hope you can help. Steve.
