Equipment problem #1

"n192265660 - customer satisfaction program rear window defroster thermal events - us only" rear window shattered after having the symptoms described in customer satisfaction program n192265660. Rear defroster would smoke/smell hot when activated. The symptoms were brought to the attention of the dealership prior to window breaking, but nothing was done due to the VIN not being part of the listing. Now I have no rear window and parts are on backorder with no eta. Not to mention this will be out of pocket costs that could have been prevented. This glass shattered all over my [xxx] old daughter. This has also been known to cause fires according to the bulletin. This should be a recall. If it already is a recall my VIN is certainly affected by this problem but is not listed. My VIN should be listed along with several others. This is a relatively common problem. Dealer refuses to work with me on a cost effective solution. No warnings other than the described symptoms that were brought to the dealer as previously stated. Approximate time frame was Dec 2022. Dealer did nothing due to my VIN not being listed as part of this program. Truck was parked in the garage when the window shattered. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #2

Every time the truck is started it will give a dash screen warning of "low coolant level" even though the reservoir is completely full. It has been doing it for years now. The warning can simply be dismissed, but I worry that if it actually ever is low, I will never know until it's too late because myself and everyone affected is going to simply dismiss the warning as it is a daily occurrence. That is to say if the sensor works properly at all. I have researched it online on several chevy owners websites and it is a very common problem that appears to be from a faulty sensor that is built into the plastic af reservoir. Many have stated they have reported it to dealerships, but to no avail.

Equipment problem #3

Repeated temporary failures in the integrated trailer braking control (itbc) results in trailer brakes being inoperable (disconnected) while driving as indicated by the warning display on the dash. The complete loss of trailer braking, including increased stopping distance or trailer instability which could result in serious injury, death, or property damage. The itbc has been replaced twice, including once by dealership and the problem persists. This has been occuring from 2019 until today whenever I tow my 5th wheel. Trailer to truck connecting cords and outlets have been inspected and/or replaced as a precaution. This is the same 5th wheel which was towed by a 2005 chevy 2500hd for 10 years without a problem using an aftermarket brake controller.

Equipment problem #4

Unknown. I just noticed the lights immediately and the reverse camera but told dealer before I bought it and they said they would fix it then they said they couldn't do anything about it after I bought it.

Equipment problem #5

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at 30-35 mph with a 2017 heartland bighorn trailer hitched to the vehicle, the message “check trailer wiring” was displayed. The brake pedal was depressed, however, the trailer brakes failed to respond and the trailer did not slow down as intended. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring for extended period of times while driving. The contact stated that the failure persisted for 4 hours while driving at 60 mph. The contact stated that several unknown repairs had been completed on the trailer. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer graff chevy durand (9009 lansing rd, durand, mi 48429), where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated the pollak 7-way plug connector was installed on the vehicle under gm technical service bulletin number :pit5311e. However, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, which made it difficult to diagnose. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

Equipment problem #6

Recall n212329840, n182206310, n182206311. We have received these recalls for the heater block heater cord for our 2019 Chevrolet silverado duramax diesel. The dealership removed the cord without having a replacement available. We have made several attempts to have this cord replaced per the recall notice but to no avail. GMC continues to fail to provide a replacement cord or heater block unit. This part is essential for the duramax diesel engine to perform in cold climates. Without the heater block functioning the diesel engine will not function properly. We feel this is a safety issue for the maintaining the engine as designed and the occupants of the vehicle. The engine may eventually start in cold climates but start to fail as you drive it because the engine block is not warmed and the fuel will gel. This will cause the truck to stop running as you are driving it. We would like to have NHTSA to investigate why the heater blocks/cords are not available.

Equipment problem #7

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v496000 (equipment) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and it was confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue however, no further assistance was provided. The contact was concerned about the vehicle not starting in the cold weather. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Equipment problem #8

The truck was issued a recall for the engine blocker heater which was performed. Since that recall was performed I keep getting low coolant warnings on the dash in error. The vehicles was taken back to dealer and everything was checked. They refilled the system just incase there was an air pocket but they warned me about 4 out of 10 people that have the recall performed continually get a low coolant light. The truck was fine for 2 months and now I'm back to having the low coolant light on. The coolant level looks fine. I called the dealer and they said gm knows about it but no fix is available because throwing parts at it like a new reservoir tank and coolant sensor doesn't seem to fix the issue. We're being told to simply ignore the warning displayed on the dash for now. To me it is totally unacceptable that the "fix" for the engine clock heater recall has now created a secondary issue that has not been addressed. Since you have the database of vins that were part of the engine block heater recall I ask that you reach out to those people that have had the fix performed and find out how many are now having a low coolant issue as a result of that repair being made.

Equipment problem #9

Engine compartment fire with visible flames. Driving on a gravel road approximately 10 miles per hour. Stopped to check out the road conditions ahead and there was smoke coming out of the drivers side front wheel well. Turned the truck off. Opened the hood and there were visible flames behind the engine near the fire wall. We put the fire out with bottled water.
