1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

This has happened three times with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd ltz truck. Each time, the failure was following a remote start in my driveway. It has occurred at the approximately 40k, 80k, and now at 128k mile mark. First two repairs were covered under the warranty and extended warranty, with the third time there was no warranty and the cost for repair was ~$2800. Each time, the vehicle was remote started in the January timeframe with cold (0 to 30°f) temperatures to allow the vehicle warm up prior to driving. I know two of those events occurred when we had a more significant temperature drop as there was snow on the ground. Upon getting into the driver seat and putting into reverse to back out of the driveway, I discovered the brakes and power steering had failed. The dealer on this third time indicated a check valve somewhere was "sticky" resulting in the failure of a hose with a booster tied to either the brakes or power steering (not sure which) failing taking the other part out. In this third case, either power steering or brake fluid vapors had been sucked back into the heater as things had sprayed around the engine compartment. The cab of the vehicle presenting a haze/fog in the vehicle causing me to realize there was something wrong upon opening the truck door. All three times, the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service repair. I do not know if this could have presented a fire hazard or had I been driving down the highway or interstate how fast I would have lost braking or steering ability.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2024

Component failed: power steering pump and the power brake booster. Parts are available to inspect. When the component failed you begin to loose power steering and power brakes. This makes it hard to steer and brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure of these parts and replaced them at the owner expense. No warning lights came on, components failed without any prior warning. A similar failure was part of recall # n-192268490 and detailed in gm service bulletin 23-na-144 dated August 2023.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at 30-35 mph with a 2017 heartland bighorn trailer hitched to the vehicle, the message “check trailer wiring” was displayed. The brake pedal was depressed, however, the trailer brakes failed to respond and the trailer did not slow down as intended. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring for extended period of times while driving. The contact stated that the failure persisted for 4 hours while driving at 60 mph. The contact stated that several unknown repairs had been completed on the trailer. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer graff chevy durand (9009 lansing rd, durand, mi 48429), where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated the pollak 7-way plug connector was installed on the vehicle under gm technical service bulletin number :pit5311e. However, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, which made it difficult to diagnose. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2020

At liwer speeds my truck keeps surging forward. I only have 9500 miles on it and is one year old. Under normal braking it works fine, but at lower speeds it is a bear to stop. Yesterday I almost missed my turn because it surged forward, and last week it overshot the intersection by a few feet because it surged ahead.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

I purchased a brand new chevy Silverado 2500hd at the end of 2019. Periodically service trailer brake system would pop up throughout the beginning, and soon became an increasing event causing my trailer brakes to stop working while towing heavy loads. This is an extreme safety hazard, not only for the driver, but for others on the road as well. How this isn't a recall already for the mere fact of the distracting chime, light alone the fact that the trailer brakes become inoperable at a moments notice is beyond me. If and when an accident occurs due to the nature of this issue, Chevrolet should be held fully responsible if a formal recall is not made within a timely manner.
