Engine And Engine Cooling problem #1

Loud ticking sound from engine corresponding with engine speed (faster as the rpms increased). Took in to dealership out of concern and the rod bearings were spun necessitating a full engine replacement. This was only 4 months after it passed the inspection for recall - l87 engine loss of propulsion (related field action: see special coverage n252494003).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #2

My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd bison zr2 (VIN [xxx] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 am on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from onstar advanced diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 silverado hd power-loss and steering failures. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #3

On or about March 14, 2026 vehicle in question stopped working, losing all power and gave a message that the vehicle was over heating and to turn off immediately. A large amount of steam emitted through the coolant reservoir that was a mixture of oil and coolant. Vehicle was towed to a manufacturer service location. The oil/coolant system ruptured damaging the radiator, thermostat, hoses and related parts. Vehicle with low mileage/hours was consuming engine oil at what one would consider a greater rate. ( 1 quart every other day). Our organization is aware that the diesel model of this truck had a recall for a oil/cooling system issue and we believe the same liability may lay with the gas version. Mileage was approximately 13,000 at time of breakdown.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #4

My 2024 Chevrolet 2500hd duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in enid, oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal def/emissions behavior. The failure involves the scr/def emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed product emissions recall for scr fault detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at classic Chevrolet in owasso, ok for diagnosis.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #5

The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #6

With 19,000 miles on my Silverado 2500 hd I was traveling down a hill towards a stop sign at a t intersection. About 100 yeads from the stop sign I had many flashing errors on the dash, very little brake and very little steering. The engine just shot off. Fortunately I was able to stop the vehicle right at the stop sign while traffic from right and left had no stop sign. The truck would not start after. It did have electrical power. I tow was needed. The next day the chevy dealer did find a bulletin for a wire in the engine compartment chaffed. Symptoms were the same as what I experienced. Repair was made. Bulletin #24-na-124. There is no doubt a bulletin should be issued but I believe this is a real safety issue with the engine just randomly shutting off leaving no power to brakes and steering. Had this happened while I was towing our camper I would not have stopped and t boned another vehicle causing damage and no doubt injury to others and myself. If traveling on an interstate at 70 mph this could have been even worst. This is a known problem and should be a recall and not just a bulletin. Thanks.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #7

My business work truck started not shifting properly. I dropped it off at mirak Chevrolet in arlington, MA on 4/29/25 and they diagnosed the vehicle needing a valve body part # 24065357. Gm/Chevrolet has been unable to source this part and was unable to provide an eta. I immediately contacted gm and my case # is 51184758. Then it was approved and escalated for a new transmission and same issue unable to source part and no eta. This is my business vehicle that has not been operable since 4/29 due to a manufacturer issue. No fault on my end. This is a brand new vehicle that should not have these type of issues. I have lost revenue, income, jobs, and I don't have a replacement vehicle. I have a loan on this vehicle that I am making payments towards but there is no end in sight. It has been a month with daily calls to gm for an update or for someone to call me back and nothing. I need my work truck back. This has caused extreme financial stress. I need help.

The truck went to the dealer for recalls on March 21, 2025. The truck is still within the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Recalls consisted of tailgate fix, tcm & ecm updates. The truck was returned to me approximately a week later. I noticed a significant loss of power. I took the truck back to the dealer and told them about the issue. They had it another 2 days and returned it to me, saying there was nothing wrong. Approximately a week later, I was driving down the road and the check engine light appeared on the gauge cluster. I immediately drove the truck to the dealer, and the dtcs were emissions-related. The service advisor, jeff, told me to keep driving the truck, and it might go away. I drove the truck home, 20 mins away from the dealer, and as I pulled into my driveway, a message on the gauge cluster said, "add engine oil. " I notified the dealer of the issue immediately. The next morning, I added a gallon of oil, and there were still no signs of oil on the dipstick. At that time, I noticed there was no coolant in the reservoir, but engine oil residue, and a collapsed upper radiator hose. The truck was towed to the dealer later that day. After inspection, the dealer said the oil cooler had failed. They sent me the service bulletin, but that bulletin only says, "oil and coolant mix," nothing about the disappearance of the fluid, and no explanation of the emissions codes. The dealer and gm's corporate office are refusing the share the diagnostic data on how they have concluded that the oil cooler has failed. Their solution is to replace the oil cooler and see what happens. This truck has 1000 miles left on the warranty, and the parts/procedures expire at the end of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Recap: gm will not share diagnostic data, and they are refusing to extend coverage, yet their remedy is to experiment with my $70,000 truck, and the moment this truck is out of warranty, they are going to wash their hands of it. That is not acceptable.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #9

Complete engine and emission fail while driving. Complete loss of power. Created a serious safety issue while driving due to other traffic and inability to move vehicle from road side to safe area. Problem was confirmed by mechanic. Contact to GMC resulted in no response. Mechanic has reported numerous other GMC trucks with the same issue. Check engine light came on shortly before and then went off again. Contact was made with dealer as well as GMC directly regarding the issue.

After 3 days of using the truck I parking the vehicle with a trailer and I stop the truck and turn off to check the back and when I try to start the engine don’t work and all the lights turn on low battery,no key, service service esc, traction control, and I stuck with the whole cabin outside of the drive way , pedestrians must use the street to instead of the sidewalk, take it to the dealer and they say it is the computer must be replace it .

The contact owned a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam lifters and three cylinders had collapsed, and the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #12

On July 1st, 2023, I purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from orielly Chevrolet in tucson, arizona. On July 2nd, 2023, an error message popped up on the dash, “park assist blocked see owner’s manual”. It continued to happen on and off til this very day. The dealership "attempted" to fix the issue, but it obviously hasn't been resolved. Due to equipment being faulty, the chances of an accident whilst back up are significantly increased. At one point on this ordeal, the truck was in the shop for 61 days. It had been in my possession for 18 days. I am currently in the process of a buyback for the vehicle. I had to hire a lemon law attorney. A supervisor from gm advised that gm is refusing a buy back for the vehicle. The vehicle also displayed an error, "key not found" while I was driving at 50mph. A bit unsettling. That error showed up twice on the dash. The dealership said they fixed the issue with a software update. Recently, the vehicle has a ticking noise on the left side of the engine, and the engine idles so low, that it feels like it's going to stall. Those issues haven't been addressed at the shop, because I start a new job on Monday(12/4) and had to drive over 2k miles to get here. Thankfully the truck made it. Not a concern I should have with a brand new vehicle.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the battery was disconnected temporarily to reset the ecm. The check engine warning light was reset; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing abnormal fuel consumption. The contact stated that the fuel economy was 8. 2 - 9 miles per gallon while driving and hauling a trailer. The contact related the failure an unknown gm voluntary recall for faulty fuel injector flow rate. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 400.
