My husband and I were driving his chevy silverado with our two dogs in the back. Without any warning or any alert, our vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle lane on a three lane highway. Not a slow stop where there was any time. I’m confirming immediate. At that time, the vehicle would not move at all for almost 5 minutes. As we sat there praying to god that we wouldn’t die as tractor trailers and other vehicles came flying past missing us by inches. It’s truly a miracle that no one was killed. He put truck in neutral and pressed start button and was not able to go any faster then 5 mph and once again a miracle we were able to make it to shoulder of highway without being hit. The vehicle was shaking excessively and flashing things like emissions, traction, as our videos and pictures will show when we made it to side of highway. This is a disgrace that any vehicle would ever be manufactured with this outcome. I am deeply grateful that my husband and I and our two dogs are alive and not injured but this should never happen again.
I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.
The transmission valve has gone bad a few thousand miles outside of warranty. This part has widely been recalled in silverados up to 2022 but is not including 2024 yet. This is the same issue, that I also had with my chevy tahoe last August. Please include 2024 2500 silverados.
2024 Chevrolet 2500 hd purchased new. Vehicle did not include a complete owners manual only a brief description of vehicle. Many safety issues were left out such as maintenance schedules that could affect performance and safety over the life of the vehicle. Another issue that was omitted was the operation of the automatic tailgate that was involved in a previous recall. I contacted Chevrolet and asked for the complete version of the owners manual and was told the the incomplete manual was all that was included in the purchase of a $72,000 truck. I was directed to a third party which offered the complete manual for $94. 00 which included $32. 00 shipping and handling. Book rate shipping is $5. 95. For an automaker to excessivey profit from a safety problem is inexcusable and a danger to the public.
The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.
Engine light is on sdgm module abnormal.
Onstar stopped working after an over the air software update and has not worked since.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer hitch detached. The contact stated that the failure occurred while a trailer was hitched to the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure caused damage to the trailer and a hole in the bed of the vehicle. In addition, the contact performed an inspection of the vehicle and noticed that the trailer hitch was not properly welded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was confirmed that the metal hitch was not penetrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the results could not be disclosed to the contact. The contact stated that because of the failure and not knowing the safety of the vehicle, the vehicle had not been driven since. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer requested a third-party investigation. The contact was requested to take the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer requested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer so that the third-party investigation could be performed. The vehicle was picked up by the dealer. The contact was informed that the investigation was completed; however, the results were not shared with the contact. The failure mileage was 29,300.
After a rain storm the tailgate started malfunctioning. Now it does it all the time even on pure sunny days. It will go up and down randomly without anyone touching a button. It does it so much it drained both batteries, which left the truck inoperable. The dealer said it’s not under the recall that’s out for other trucks and to just bring it up for repair.
Ac will not run while truck is in idle. I was told by the dealer all gm trucks with the 6. 6 gasoline engine this is a standard on them. This is a major safety issue when it becomes 100 f outside.
Trailer brake controller repeatedly failed. The tbc would turn on and off randomly, the trailer we were towing then had no trailer brakes. This has atsb associated with it, but this is a safety issue and should be a safety recall. The TSB is 23-na-149. I am a mechanical engineer and my wife is a software engineer and we spent many hours troubleshooting this on the road away from home. Gm must be compelled to elevate this to a recall as the condition of no trailer brakes can lead to a crash and deaths. Thank you.
Side mirrors are loose at pivot point, driving at highway speed can blow them closed to the window causing a lack of visibility and requiring me to exit and pull the mirrors back out. Extensive research has not revealed a solution, I have inquired with my dealer, they will not follow up. This has happened several times.
After 3 days of using the truck I parking the vehicle with a trailer and I stop the truck and turn off to check the back and when I try to start the engine don’t work and all the lights turn on low battery,no key,service service esc, traction control, and I stuck with the whole cabin outside of the drive way , pedestrians must use the street to instead of the sidewalk, take it to the dealer and they say it is the computer must be replace it .
The differential, front right axil "housing" is rusted to the point that it is pitting. The rust completely covers the entire right axil housing and does not come close to matching the light corrosion when compared to the rest of the differential or anywhere else on the vehicle. These indicators lead me to believe the housing was in a corrosive environment prior to being installed onto the differential where both the internal and external surfaces of the housing were exposed to same corrosive environment. Several concerns: if the inside of the axil housing is rusted as bad as the outside, the integrity of the axil has been compromised; internal rust contamination will lead to premature failure; the housing was not properly heat-treated; no vehicle should be delivered brand new with this level of rust on any part. The issue was pointed out to gm shortly after purchased new. The vehicle has been kept in a non-corrosive environment since it was purchased, and gm refuses to assess the internal integrity of the axil housing and refuse to install a new housing. I am cautious about towing heavy loads since I do not want risk towing 21,000 lbs. If or when the housing fails. I have seen other silverado, 2500 hds with the same issue. As an experienced airframe and powerplant mechanic with automotive experience, I would never allow a vehicle to operate with this level of contamination unless I could confirm the integrity of the housing via nondestructive inspection and thickness measurements. Or should I just start towing and wait to see if it fails?.
I would like to report a hazardous issue with the 2024 Chevrolet silverado trailer braking power mode. The trailer braking system turns on and off when the loaded trailer is connected; this represents a security hazard since this truck is used for work and we move heavy pieces of metal and glass. This issue was reported several times to the dealership lou bachrodt Chevrolet in coconut creek, FL. Also, the manufacturer provided a letter indicating the replacement of some parts. As indicated, I took the truck to lou bachrodt Chevrolet in coconut creek, FL, on [xxx] for the corresponding service; however, the truck is still presenting the same issues. We tried different trailers, including a u-haul trailer, and still had the same dysfunctionality. Please advise how to proceed. Trailer brakes disabled intermittently. Problem is not with trailer it is the truck. Took it to dealer they could not repair said that general motors is working on a correction. This is dangerous if trailer brakes are not engaged it will push the truck.
Rear view camera doesn’t display an image in reverse at night. Many reported issues online with Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, model years 2024 and 2025.
Continued loss of trailer lights and brakes. This truck has the tow package installed by the manufacturer and apparently the truck doesn’t recognize or see led lights causing it to lose the connection between the truck and trailer.
We have a 2022 grand design imagine 2800bh for two years and towed it with a 2018 ram 2500. Just recently purchased the 2024 Silverado 2500hd and our first tow the new truck kept disconnecting the trailer brakes then reconnecting. Apparently the new 2024 are having issues with their trailer brake modules recognizing trailers being attached. When you are towing a travel trailer and you need to brake and they’re not available because your tow vehicle is having issues recognizing a trailer brakes.
This truck was optioned with the trailer tow package which includes a trailer brake controller. However, if the battery on the trailer is a higher voltage than the truck battery, the trailer brake controller will fail intermittently. This leaves the truck traveling at freeway speeds with no trailer brakes. This is extremely unsafe. Gm is aware of the problem and has issued a technical bulleting "23-na-113 information on trailer brake disabled or dtc stored" on June 28, 2023. This is an extremely hazardous situation and should be resolved immediatlly or the truck owners should be advised to not tow with the trucks until resolved.
While the phone connects to android auto, the system will treat the music as a phone call and reduces the a/c to account for the possible noise on a phone call from the system. The vehicle is in arizona, and this is a problem that you want to avoid. The a/c system will only resume when phones are disconnected from the truck. The issue happens when phones are connected via bluetooth or a cord in the usb-c slot. Incoming messages will not play when they come in. The system states that no active subscription is enabled to allow messages to play across the truck's device using google assist. The issue poses concerns as arizona is a hand-free device state. The truck does not allow the full abilities of the android auto system.
