Fuel gauge at fill up went past full and completely clock wise. . . Gauge reading is all over the place everytime I start engine. Vehicle has 59,000 miles. I have to read my "range" reading, (uncertain of accuracy)to approximate fuel in diesel tank.

I own a 1997 silverado 6. 5 diesel engine, w/279k miles, truck was running ok but the last few months engine stalling and stop without reason, took it to a repair center, diagnose with fuel injection pump failure, diesel dealer explained this is a well known defect, fuel injection pump has an electronic component (pmd) located on the side of the pump when engine gets hot sent failure signal to the main computer. Contacted gm customer service to verified the issue, answered that yes indeed they agreed about the problem also said they had campaign not a recall to fix the problem but didn't make announcement to public. I asked for help to fix the problem was told that I run out of options they only honor this problem for 10 years or 120k miles? I was not aware and never received a letter from GMC. This is a accident waiting to happen with terrible consequences, if the engine stops or stall going down the hill in any urban or rural area; passing another car in a busy highway and stalling or just the engine quit running. Crossing a busy intersection with kids inside and no power (horrible accident with serious injuries and casualties!!) I usually am towing a horse trailer on busy highway and suddenly stall or stopping in front of a semi-trailer, crossing a rail road and stalling in the middle with people inside a train coming its way! these are a few consequences this failure can create, while this is a factory failure and poor design. I had replaced the (pmd) and after spending over $2500. 00 still have the same problem. At the present time I am not driving the truck much until I can get this resolved from your agency to see the results of your investigation. Is this just another way of soaking the public with repair bills every single year. I now have had the pmd replaced one year after the first injection pump service and again one more year later this problem has now returned and another $2500 is required to fix it yet again. What are you going to do about it?.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet silverado diesel. I have incidents of burning smoke filling the cab. I took it to the dealer and they said this was a normal function of the emissions system. I contacted gm and they said the same thing and that I should learn to live with it. This happens with no warning it is distracting and disturbing when driving.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4 diesel. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would misfire. The next misfire would recur 45 minutes later, and the third misfire would normally recur an hour afterwards. The failure was intermittent. The contact could not drive over 25 mph and the vehicle constantly jerked. In January of 2008, she took her vehicle to the dealer and they replaced two fuel injectors. On April 2, 2008, the dealer replaced 8 fuel injectors. After the most recent failure, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic. They could not locate any failures. The failure mileage was 65,000 and current mileage was 97,000.
6. 6 diesel fuel rail leak. Can fuel dripping on exhaust manifold create fire? service man at dealer said he had another last week. The same rail is apparently used on 2001 through 2004 model years.

Towing trailer on the i90 interstate. Sudden loss of power and unable to regain speed on high speed highway. Dealer diagnosed as "fuel filter" problem. Has happened on numerous occasions
seems common problem with gm duramax diesels from 2003 to present. The sudden loss of power can be dangerous on high speed highways as speed is cut drastically and speed cannot be regained to make a safe pull over to the side of the road.

Driving 50 mph on road, I stepped on the accelerator pedal to accelerate and the vehicle engine light came on. However the vehicle would not accelerate it was spitting and sputtering and slowed down for a while . I pulled over to the side of the road and shut it off. After ten minutes, the vehicle was restarted, and light went out and it ran perfectly.
: the contact stated while driving 45 mph under normal road conditions, the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer, who determined that the fuel solenoid driver had failed.

Instrument cluster fuel gauge failure. This happens frequently, sometimes every day. Nothing has been found to correct the failure. The fuel gauge often shows inaccurate fuel level readings. It happens more often when the car is warm than when it is cold. It happens a lot when the car is hot (e. G. Heater is on very high or in the summer). I'm afraid that the fuel gauge will tell me that I have more fuel than I really do and, as a result, cause the engine to stall from fuel exhaustion on a busy highway resulting in an accident. This still happens to the vehicle often. Repairs have not been done. I have heard that many many others with this make of vehicle have the same problem. The same issue happens not only to the fuel gauge, but also these other gauges: the speedometer (which could cause me to drive too fast for conditions or break the speed limit), oil pressure, engine temp, voltmeter, transmission temp and tachometer.
