My trailer braking system gives off warnings that it's not connected to the trailer when I don't have the trailer connected. But I was towing my trailer and as I stepped on the break it was giving me that warning and the brake system was failing to engage on the trailer I reviewed this on forums and everybody is having this problem it has been going on from about 2011 on the Chevrolet and GMC's for GMC and Chevrolet says there is no problem people have switched out the dashboard switch and it returns it comes and goes as a problem.
