Exterior Lighting Problems of Chevrolet Sonic

If you are driving in the rain and you have your high beams on the doors will unlock. The wipers will turn off, the rpm's race high accelrating the car into almost a spin if you do not counter correct the steering. The engine and radio shuts off at random times as well. Had a diagnostic check done, nothing wrong with the engine, electrical systems, battery or alternator. Was told it is a manufacturer is with the computer system, but NHTSA will not address the issue until someone get's killed, so general motors will not fix it, until they are in probate court. As a leo this is unacceptable behavior, especially after our government just bailed them out again with our tax money.

Temp 45-50 degrees, driving in moderate rain for 20-25 minutes, cruise control on. Activate high beams, car shifts to 1st gear at 65 mph, rpms jump above 6000, turn off high beams returns to normal operation. Repeated 2 more times in next 4 miles, even at 25 mph. When end of trip, shut off car and completely dead, no lights, no cranking. Following morning (today) car starts normally. Will report any further from my commute today, if warranted.

Evap purge solenoid stuck open causing car to stall out while driving down the highway- streets. If stopped at a light or had to slow down it would cause the car to stall in mid intersection and put myself and family in danger of getting into an accident. Windshield washer unit stopped working causing my windshield to impair my visibility not once but twice now. Dash lights keep dimming sometimes when I start the car and sometimes while im driving down the road causing it hard to tell the speed and fuel level but doesnt do it all the time it comes and goes.

My car keeps shutting completely off even while driving, the radio come on and off by itself and no one can tell me why, this is very dangerous I be driving with my children in the vehicle and the car shuts off while driving in traffic.

Cannot take the key out when car is in park.

During night operation, the backlight of the center screen is so bright it causes difficulty seeing the road. The instrument cluster is at an acceptable level (as adjusted by the switch to the left of the steering wheel), but the center screen is still too bright. A simple floating software button allowing a display off function would address issue. As it is, the display off function is hidden in a submenu requiring inattention to the road to activate.

It started with the radio going dark sometimes not working then the windows wont" go down then my car would not turn on took it to many mechanics no one could figure out whats wrong finally one told me that some Sonics had a recall and it was doing the same thing as mine. This is more often it was once in a while but now is very often my radio doent come on and my head lights keeps going off too.

My radio will turn itself on hours after my car has been turned off. I've had to take out the fuse everytime I exit the car so the battery won't drain. I don't know where to begin with fixing this problem. It's been going on for a few weeks now. I've called to the dealership where the car was purchased and they said it was a manufacturing problem. Please don't tell me I have to pay for this out of pocket. From what I've seen there's a lot of these cases on the internet. So it's not just a random problem.

The first thing I noticed was when I turned the car on and put it in drive the radio turned off and would not come back on. As I was driving I then noticed the cars signal lights were not working either. I had to turn the car on and off several times before the signal lights would begin to work again.

While driving down the highway, going approximentaly 65mph, the dash lights including speedometer turn off and reset. They stay off from 10-20 seconds then reset back on. This has happened multiple times in the last 3 months. Has only happened in 6th gear and is very dangerous knowing the repair dealership can not figure out what triggers it.

This car has so many porblems. I have had it to the dealership on 4 separate occasions and it is getting ready to go in for the 5th time. Each time so far I have been told the same thing. . . . "it doesn't throw any codes and we can't get it to duplicate the issue so there is nothing to be done but just keep driving it and bring it back if it keeps happening". . . . {whatever did mechanics do back in the day before cars had computers?} - anyway, the transmission is automatic and acts like it is grabbing and doesn't want to shift up through the gears so it feels like hard shifting (started before it even had 10,000 miles on it) - it doesn't do it all the time, but often enough that it is a problem that I worry about (it's even done it when on cruise control a couple of times). Now, at less than 30,000 miles the car is idling rough and when I press the brakes it makes a noise in the shifter? the autolights adjust themselves even when there is no change in lighting outdoors (pitch black night and the lights will dim down for no reason at 45mph running down the road with no other vehicles around, etc. ) and the radio adjusts its volume the same way and it even turns itself off randomly. The traction control and stability trac lights come on sometimes, stay on for awhile and then go off. Now that it's getting hot and I'm running the ac, it is acting up also - blowing full blast then dropping down, then back up again. . . . - dealer insists, no codes thrown, won't replicate problem when they have it, therfore no problem exists - this car has problems - I would not recommend a Sonic to anyone. Please investigate transmissions and electrical issues in these cars.

After purchasing my chevy Sonic 2012, I went to get my first oil change 3 months later. And the engine light came on. I have gone back multiple times, and have been told that it was the gas cap which by the way had a recall on it. The light came back on a week later. Took it back they said that the one they replaced it with had a bad seal. They ordered the part replaced the cap. Drove for another two weeks and the engine light came back on. Took it back, this time they told me that the car needed a thermostat replacement done the light came back on again. Took it back this time, I was told that it was a air vent tube that was connected to the engine, which by the way is not covered under my power train, did that and yet again the light is back on. Now my radio goes on and off when it wants to. When I get up to go to work my battery is dead. They have also replaced the drivers air bag for some sort of recall. The windshield wipers was replaced as it also had a recall. I really want to trade this car in I am literary scared to drive it. Scared driver. . . . . . . . . . .
