The road I was driving on is 55 mph on bear in. As I began to break nothing happened. A 90 corner was in front of me. 55th Ave. I pushed as hard as I could on the breaks. It was smooth. . Traction control was on. No breaking unit went into affect. It was smooth all the way into a tree head on. Zero skid marks! I was conscious the entire time closed on eyes right before impact. Air bags did work. The engine started on fire 3x. They had to use the jaws of life to remove the vehicle from the tree. I pushed so hard on the break that it broke my ankle, split my knee open and sprained my knee. I was taken to the hospital. Mileage on the vehicle was about 56k. This should have killed me. The breaks had worked fine before this. . No squealing, shaking etc. In good working order. Conditions were dark, dry roads, no wind. I do have reports but can not scan them. I loaded 5 images! please look into this matter immediately. Lives are at stake.

Brake pedal feels too soft and causes the car to have problems with making smooth stops. I noticed this change in October 2016. This problem is particularly dangerous when you are required to make sudden stops at intersections or in heavy traffic. This happens when driving on city streets, neighborhood streets and on highways. I am concerned that this could result in another vehicle from striking mine in the rear or a child being hurt or killed when I drive through my neighborhood streets. It is very unpredictable. I took it to my Chevrolet dealer and they said they were unable to duplicate the problem at that time. I am including an image of the dealer's service report from 11/09/2016. The problem still continues to this date, 8/8/17. Since the problem is ongoing, I cannot report an actual date, mileage, or driving speed.
List of power brake boost under several conditions. 1. When engine is warm, after shift into reverse, list of power brake boost 2. While accelerator was depressed, and at the same time applied brake, results in lost of vacuum boost in both conditions, car is in motion and unable to stop without the use of extra brake effort, comprising stopping distance and safety, on several occasions vehicle will not stop when applying brake, due to extreme stiffness of the pedal.
Car shakes very bad when driving and approaching a stop.

Faulty computer/recalls I purchased the used vehicle 2 years ago and a month after the check engine light came on. I have brought this back to the dealer multiple times to fix, but it keeps happening. It is not an issue with my engine, but rather the computer. Because of the faulty computer issue, it has caused other issues in my car, including faulty reading and my inability to know if something dangerous actually was occurring in my vehicle. I am very frustrated, because this keeps happening and each year I have to deal with this issue to get my car inspected.
Takata recall I was driving and I tried to brake at an intersection due to a red light and there was a car in front of me, I was unable to use the brakes because the pad got stiff and it didn't allow me to brake, I had to use my emergency brake but I hit the car in front of me .
In 2015, my 2012 Chevrolet Sonic had to have the fuel purge valve replaced. The car worked for a while after this. However, a few months ago, it started having a rough idle, with the rpms dipping up and down. The problem got worse recently, when the car actually completely died while making a left hand turn, almost causing me to get hit. Now, it is even worse. Now, in addition to the rough idle, traction control randomly engages even when I am not slipping, causing me to lose all power for brief periods of time, while in motion. The traction control is glitching so bad that it even randomly engages when I am completely stopped. This is a huge safety issue, and the dealership that sold me the car wants $113 just to tell me what is causing it, and how much it will cost to actually fix. There are no active recalls on this vehicle, but further research on the model I own, shows other owners having similar issues. Chevrolet has been no help.
On 1/31/2016 a vehicle pulled out in front of me. The first and biggest issue was the airbag never went off and the seat belt tensioners did not lock the belts either. I went forward and hit my head on the steering wheel rendering me unconscious!!! almost the whole front end had to be replaced e. G. : grill and front panel, left and right front quarter panels, radiator, both wheel wells, suspension on both sides and everything that goes with those plus a whole lot of other things like the radiator, coolant and washer tanks etc. Etc. . . . This was a full-frontal wreck and not a single airbag went off!!! secondly are the abs and traction control. The roads were a little slick so I had the tc on. When I hit my brakes all they did, have done since I bought the car, and continue to do to this day, is immediately lock up! I had zero control of my car. This car has, by far, the worst abs system I have ever used. The tc is complete shit, too!!! thirdly, every time I start the car the engine seems to misfire or something! it rattles and shakes the whole car, hard!!! after a few seconds it seems to find it's groove and idles normally. I have brought the car in to the local chevy dealership where I purchased the car to address these problems. All they tell me is they are design and/or manufacturing flaws. They said I can pay to fix these issues with my own money or wait and see if the issues become recalls. Which, according to my research, have not yet. To me, these are some pretty big safety issues the manufacturer should be addressing!!! and why aren't they????? I have photos of the accident, but can't seem to find them anywhere. I'll come back if I find them.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. The contact stated that the brake pedal stuck to the floor board, while attempting to slow down and driving at 65 mph. As a result, the contact crashed into a guard rail. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The approximate failure mileage was 35,500.
While driving at highway speed on a two lane road at night, applied brakes to avoid animal in road. Conditions were clear and road was dry. There was plenty of time to slow to avoid animal so this was not a panic stop. Upon application of brakes, headlights went out. Dash lights stayed on making it impossible to see out of the vehicle. Applied brakes with more urgency and all four wheels locked. Vehicle skidded straight until the right tires made contact with the right shoulder. The car then spun counter clockwise back onto the roadway, across both lanes, and came to rest on the shoulder of the oncoming lane (approximately one and one-half revolutions). Skid marks on highway confirmed the wheel lock and the spin. Car was shut off and re-started and all systems worked fine. Unable to duplicate the problem.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the contact's wet shoe started slipping off the accelerator and brake pedal. The contact mentioned that the problem was due to the pedal being made out of metal instead of rubber. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact that the was nothing wrong with the vehicle and they were not able to alter the design. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23,000. Pm.
Intermittently, applying the brakes hard is unresponsive - like pressing on a board. I nearly struck 2 kids on bikes the other day. Scary. The dealer stated, "technician test drove vehicle and verified customer's concern. Inspected brake system, found check valve for brake booster stuck open and brake booster vacuum pump seized. " I contend that this is not a wear and tear type of issue, but rather a manufacturer's defect. In researching this matter, I found message boards and forums that describe the same issue. . Has happened off & on since I bought car October 2014. While at a complete stop car will rock back and forth as if the brake pedal isn't pushed down all the way & the car isn't sure if it is to be driving forward slightly or stopped. Even with me pushing the brake pedal all the way down to floor, car still rocks back & forth. If at stop light while doing this issue & light turns green for me to drive ahead car will not move till done having its rocking back & forth fit. It only lasts 15-20 seconds but can not drive forward while car is having fit. Is this the computer/stabilatrack not communicating properly?.
My brakes trimble, when stopping. . I had them check out. 07/24. 2013. . . . The mechanic stated: the brakes are new. It might be rotors. What is the problem? is there a recall? if not there should be!!.

When I apply my brakes at low speed there is a rotational noise in the rear end. I found out on my last recall visit that gm knows of this issue and sent out a document, #pic5781 dated 11/19/2012 saying they were working on the problem. I have contacted gm to see if they have resolved this issue. They reported back to me, after 3 weeks of phone conversations and talking to multiple persons, that the rear drums have to be re-designed and that they are working on the fix. I asked for a letter or email showing me the date my car will be fixed and that it is not a safety issue even though the problem is with the brakes. They refused me a letter or email on this issue and I only talk to someone with a first name. I have heard this same noise since 5/12/2012 but now it is getting louder.
Rear noise coming from the brake area. Gm told me they have to re-design the rear brake drums, they wouldn't give me a fix date and wouldn't say if it was a safety problem. Noise is getting louder. Gm produced a document #3213219 Nov 2012 saying they were working on the problem and didn't see it as a safety issue.
