Transmission issues.
The gm bulletin n19227110 indicates that they are aware of over 10% of Chevrolet Spark models from the years 2014-2015 experiencing transmission problems. Although this bulletin expired last year, it is important to note that they do not provide coverage for vehicles purchased used with fewer than 120,000 miles. This situation poses a significant danger, as the transmission may potentially be contaminated with dirt and debris, leading to unexpected jerking or complete failure, and in some cases, vehicles have caught fire. Furthermore, unless the vehicle is taken to a gm service center, the issue may remain undetected. According to my research, this problem is similar to the one that Nissan faced with their cvt transmissions, which were subject to a recall for the same reason.
10/5/2021 I had the coolant expansion tank replaced because it was leaking. Its leaking again 2023 same place. (picture below in now same place as before).
The gas guage meter failed to work and didn't show where the gas was and so this is dangerous because if you are driving and you were on the freeway and the car stopped because of gas, this could cause an accident and you could be hurt or killed. This part should be a recall on the car because I never should had to fix this for the lifetime of the car at all or at least after 100,000 miles, which it only had 39,000 and I had to end up paying for the ecm and having to reprogram it, which cost me over $1,000, which being disabled, I had to borrow money from a friend to do this. I paid $220 to have the chevy dealer tell me that was the problem and have paperwork to prove this. There was also an engine light that came, when this happened.
When taking off, sometimes the vehicle does not want to excellerate. It seems like the transmission is slipping or not switching gears-it makes a loud clicking gear sound. The vehicle also revs up really loud. It also sometimes feels like the vehicle sulks back when lifting your foot off the gas peddle when accelerating, more than it should. These mishaps make it nearly impossible to excellerate and is dangerous when excellerating onto the highway.
Si my cars been having issues for about a couple of weeks now with speed and it’s been driving rough, it hadn’t given me any check engine lights so I went to a mechanic he changed the throttle body thinking that was the issue however the issue persisted and even got worse. I’ve noticed it doesn’t seem to go into gear when I’m driving then when it finally does it looses power, it’s also really high on the rpm’s and when it’s in park it’ll seem like it wants to turn off.
I have been having issues with my car getting stuck in gear or not wanting to switch gears, as well as sometimes when I try to go and I'm pushing the gas pedal it's like it doesn't move or try to drive then there is a loud knock and it revs all the way up and still doesn't really move then there is another loud knock and it takes off slowly and over revs and sputters and drives very odd, like it's struggling to go and keeps trying to switch gears. The check engine light keeps going on and off and every once in a while my traction light comes on as well. I took it to auto zone and this is the codes they received,"powertrain trouble code description: pressure control solenoid "b" control circuit range/performance powertrain secondary trouble codes: p0965, p070. " I have no idea how to afford to fix it and when doing research online about it alot of Spark owners have had this issue and no recall has been placed. It is very dangerous and I can't even drive on the highway because my car simply won't go. I got stuck at a green light trying to go and almost got hit by a semi because my car simply wouldn't move. I am scared for my life to drive this car and this is an issue that needs to be addressed because I am still paying off this car, barely had it a couple years and maybe half of my loan time and can't even drive it. I am livid and will not put my life in danger because y'all won't issue a recall for a serious problem with this car. I have to be able to get to work and I can't with a car that is constantly trying to kill me. Please help!.
Transmission won't shift into 25 mph won't acelrate idles rough loud. Stahling.
When excellerating (between 5-30mph), the vehicle studders to gain power/speed-it almost feels like there's a delay in the execution when trying to excellerate. The vehicle will then lunge forward, then sulk back as if the engine has temporarily lost power. The lunge, sulk back and studder are progressively worsening, to the point that the plunge and sulk are occurring at more varying speed changes more and more frequently (accelerating or lifting off the gas peddle to slow down).
I called a dealership multiple times for a year stating that my transmission seemed to be slipping. They told me it wasn't possibly the transmission. However, I was just driving, stopped at a light, went to accelerate to go through the light, I heard click click and the engine revved, but the car did not move. I popped it in to low, tried again, nothing. Went to neutral, then to reverse, tried again, nothing.
2014 chevy Spark motor lost compression in two cylinders @ 60k miles, whitmore Chevrolet in west point, va. Took approx. 5. 5 weeks to replace the cylinder head, with no loaner car available to me. Service manager yelled at me for stopping when I would stop by to inquire about the cars status, same when I would call. Neither the calls or visits were even daily, he was horrible to deal with. In the meantime I contacted gm about this & they did essentially nothing other than state that dealers are independantly owned & they gave me 15 months of onstar. . . I would rather have a car the functioned as designed. Fast forward approx. 2 months & the ac stopped working. Tried contacting whimore about the failed ac system, service group either hangs up on me or simply do not call back. Contacted another chevy dealer & was told that I either go back to whitmore or pay to have the ac fixed at their dealership. After buying gm since 1987 I guess I will be looking into other manufacturers very, very soon as I now need 3 new vehicles.
Car motor will not shut off when key is not in the ignition and ignition is in the off position. Car is still drive-able, it will switch gears and is able to be driven. Motor continues to run. Had to shut down car by taking out a fuse under the hood. Car is able to restart using key. A week later car motor will turn off, but the inside chime is going off, leaving car parked! I read other reports on the exact same issue.
Went to store a couple miles from home, came out of store and car would not start. Thinking maybe the battery was at fault I tried jumping the battery and still nothing so turned the ignition off and took keys and got ride home. Then upon returning to store to pick up items purchased the car was running without the keys and the ignition was in the off position. I had the woman come out of the store to see this. And it also freaked me out on how this could happen. Then I called vic koenig in carbondale, illinois where I purchased the car, and at first they said it wasn`t covered under warranty because it had 39,000 and warranty ran out at 36,000 and that they never heard of that where a car just starts up without the ignition turned on. They wanted me to bring it in, I was afraid to even drive it so I called napa down the road and a couple of there mechanics come over to see that it had started with the ignition turned off. So then they gave me a ride home and the other one took the car back to napa garage to disconnect the battery cable and see if that would shut it off, for I did not even want to step foot in the car.

Engine light came on, and it was an issue to find out what was causing a rough start and a warning I could lose power. After I took my car to my shop, he found that my fuel injector was the cause of my problem. Po301 cylinder misfire #1 injector plugged. I was parked, and when I turn on my car, the engine light stayed on when the other lights went off. ,.
Recall my rpm is going up to 6 and 7 rpm range before it shift into the next gear or level. It is hard to go up hills. Now it is burning more gas now.
I have had to take this car in 4 times because the 4th cylinder keeps going out. The air barely works and I am just so disappointed in this car.
From may 2015 to sept. 2015, my vehicle high-revved and died on the highway three times. . . The same three lights would come traction control, check engine, reduced engine power. Due to the timing of incidents, autonation refused to accept the vehicle although it was warrantied. I called gm corporate and explained that this was a danger to the safety of others and jeopardized my life, and they made attempts to remedy the situation at hand. . Autonation called and apologized for the lack of customer service, but they did not schedule an appointment to find the problem. On a day off from work, I took it to the same autonation to have them run diagnostics, and the turned me away. This happened a document three times. I took it to another chevy house, and they also refused the car. Driving it endangered my life as well as other drivers. Fast forward a couple months, I find out the throttle body is bad, and no recall has been put out. On a separate occasion, condensation had begun on the interior of my vehicle. Upon further inspection, my floorboards were sopping wet, and water began to fill the cab of my car. Autonation did find that a hose had been cut and had been leaking fluid throughout the cab. Today, 2-9-16 at appx. 0426, my vehicle began filling the cab with noxious fumes and smoking upon parking from underneath the hood for no obvious reason. No lights or chimes initiated inside the vehicle. This vehicle could have set fire at any moment had I kept driving. This vehicle is very dangerous to myself and those around, and no one at autonation takes it seriously. I hope by advancing my problems with the 2014 chevy Spark will steer potential buyers the other way, and I also hope that gm will do the right thing and buy the car back. When a car dies on the most dangerous highway in texas for no reason and starts smoking, there is obviously something wrong.
Hello, below is an email detailing the issue I sent to hertz which I rented the car from hello, as a reoccurring hertz customer, I wanted to make hertz aware of a severe safety issue with a Chevrolet Spark that I recently rented. While on I-95 in connecticut, the car turned off completely and I lost power steering and power brakes. I was able to safely pull over and restart the car. If I as a driver had anything to do with the car turning off, the only logical explanation is that my knee touched the keychain which caused the key in the ignition to turn off. Such a light tap of my right knee while I am driving to potentially be the reason a car turns off is of great concern. I would like to keep renting with hertz but this incident has damaged my respect for hertz rented vehicles. Because of this incident, I would appreciate hertz inspecting this vehicle and providing reimbursement and other relief. The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Spark m300. The contact stated that the vehicles antifreeze level was low and the antifreeze reservoir was almost empty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the antifreeze canister had a leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 1st and 2nd recall completed but vehicle still does not run right. 3rd 4th and 5th recall has not been schedule by gm and are safety recalls. 1. Bolt on bottom has to be torqued to the right setting or could be lost of steering. 2. Airbag not deploying. 3. Need new hood latch as it could corrode vehicle could open unexpectedly. This vehicle should not be on the street.

We bought are 2014 Chevrolet Spark new and since we have had it these are the problems we have had. Four times we have went to start the car turned key and nothing happens, no warning lights nothing it's like there is no battery in car also key gets hot and 3 times we have lost power, once turning from a traffic light pushed gas pedal would not go over 2 miles an hour let off pedal pressed again bogged down let off pedal again then when pressed it the car shifted hard and took off fast. We took the car to dealer 3 times the service department said nothing wrong fed up called Chevrolet corperation took it back out to dealer they said still nothing wrong. Fed up.

I test drove a 2014 Spark on 3-6-14 at voss chevy dealership, the car that I test drove "check engine" light came on. I did not purchase the car that I test drove. . . The salesperson said that because it was a brand new car there was probably a minor glitch. I was informed that a new batch of 2014 Sparks was coming in, so I ordered a 2014 Spark, I purchased the car on 2-14-14, it only had 11 miles on it. I drove my car for about 4 weeks when, on my may home from work, the "check engine" light came on and it began to smoke profusely. The Spark had to be towed back to the dealership, I was informed that a whole new motor had to be put in the car. I do not know if these engine problems are a "known problem" with the 2014 Spark or if the 1st Spark that I test drove and the 2nd Spark that I bought were just from a bad batch.
A week after I got the car I was stopped at a red light and it just stopped. It has been doing this consistently for the last 6 months now. It doesn't matter if I am at a stop sign or a red light, but it is always after I have always started to drive the car and have come to a stop. The dealer can not find any code and has suggested I use a higher octane because sometimes when I put on the break it will accelerate and they think it is "starving itself". I have tried higher octane gas and it still turns itself off!! sometimes it won't restart right away which scares me because what if the computer turns itself off while I am driving and I have no control!!! I have found other people on the internet with similar problem with this car! there is a you-tube video of a Spark owner showing his car turning itself off!! I have a manual so it would be hard for me to video and drive at the same time!! also, the last time I took the car to the dealer they told me there was a recall for the air-conditioning unit and I would have to come back to have that fixed but I can not find this recall anywhere? do you know anything about this recall? the dealer said the unit was turning itself on? it seems scary to me that the computer on this vehicle turns itself off and now is turning on the air-conditioning unit on it's own!! this sounds more like a computer problem than an air conditioner unit problem!! any help would be greatly appreciated! I am very worried about driving this vehicle!.
Rental car - chevy Spark. Went to make a left hand turn and was not able to power vehicle. Slowly started rolling into fast moving traffic (from both directions) and could not accelerate. Not sure if this is a faulty ignition or a power failure. Car was going from a fully stopped position to a left hand turn. Very dangerous and would have been in collision had not other cars in traffic come to a stop to avoid a collision. I am unsure of year (2013 - 2015) as did not record this information.
Vehicle loses power when merging on to interstate or taking off almost hit in tail in . And still acts as if its hesitate when taking off . Was told by chevy dealership mechanic its because its a four cylinder only had car a few months now and scared to go far from home in it. Talked to others that have the same car and they have the same problem just would like to know does it take someone getting hurt or killed before the problem is fixed.
