I recently purchased a 2014 chevy Spark with 49,000 miles. Within a week of using the vehicle the radio, chimes and warnings stopped working. I was driving and touched the rear window defroster. The radio went off and would not turn back on. I thought maybe a fuse had blown so I checked all related fuses. Then I did some research on line. I found numerous articles and recalls for this very same issue. I am the third owner of this Spark. The first owner had a recall service performed on the Spark that was related to the radio. Just a week before I purchase the Spark the second owner had the radio "repaired" at a chevy dealership. Chevrolet at this point does not recognize that the problem is recall related because the recall service was performed once.
Car was working fine and shut off in parking lot. Then an attempt to restart it a couple of minutes later lead to failure to turn over (cranking was heard). Console lights were lighting intermittently and varied, including check engine and safety lock. Wipers started occasionally. Could not put in neutral to push it. Over a few hours, the battery was completely drained.
2016 chevy Spark ev - 35,233 miles. Driving straight on downhill city street. Stabilitrak failure message appeared, then brakes stopped responding. Steered car into curb to force it to stop. Brake alarm symbol displayed on screen. Car towed to dealership. Dealership said brake electronic control module was faulty & needed replacement and reprogramming. This is 2nd brake related issue. Prior issue was less than 1 month after leasing in oct 2016. Brakes also failed completely.
In August 2019, as I was driving on a major highway my vehicle check engine light became illuminated and my brake, gas, steering column, and vehicle loss complete function. This incident almost cost me my life. Thank goodness I was able to exit the highway in time. After weeks and months of failed repair attempts, I contacted gm hoping to gain some resolution. After filing a complaint in December 2019 there was no response until last week. I received a letter in the mail from ,mrs. Neelie oconnor-global executive director customer experience operations, stating that my mechanical issues may indeed be at the fault of gm. They would pay for damages ,only if my car was under 120,000 miles ,and their mechanic confirms the damages.
My radio dash and audio indicators blackout without warning this weekend when I turned my car on. No blinker sound, no radio, no keys in ignition warning. Nothing. It's the same characteristics of the 2016 recall that was issued but gm will not fix it because my VIN does not appear on the recall list.
About a month ago my car, while driving, started acting up. My odometer would fluctuate and not give me my speed, my lower tire pressure came on, my check engine light came on, power steering would go in and out, and acceleration would fluctuate. I brought it in to be looked at, after 3 days of hearing nothing I called and they told me something was wrong with the onstar module. After 4 days of having my car back, same problems. Brought it back in, they called an engineer in since they had no idea what was going on and a week later I got my car back. 4 days later I again had to bring it in for the same stuff and after 9 days of playing phone tag then gave it back. I have had my car back for 2 weeks without any problems, today while 35 miles away from home every single light was flashing on the dash board. My odometer didnt work at all and I could only go 30 miles per hour. I stopped my car, shut it off and turned it back on and nothing changed. The newest ordeal is my break light will turn on and beep at me anywhere from 3 seconds to 5 minutes. With it being the holidays and having to work all week I see no point in bringing my car in for nothing to be fixed for a 4th time and being without a car because I'm only 20 for who knows how long when I have a job to get to that's only 5 minutes away. I'm am so beyond irritated and want to throw this car into a trash can.
Car lost power and took longer to accelerate than normal while I was driving it. My car's dashboard showed the check engine light, reduced engine power light and a loss of traction control light. A car diagnostic recommended to change the throttle position sensor which I have done with no success. A dealership diagnostic said there was faulty wiring which would cost $600 to fix. I have not gone through with the repairs as of yet. I have met at least 2 other people that have this problem.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 chevorlet Spark. The contact stated that the alarm system will not work. The vehicle was stalmost stolen three times. The vehicle never alarmed or sounded once the vehicle was broken into. The lock would go up and down on it's own. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to plattner's arcadia chevorlet Buick (863) 869-2228 210 s brevard Ave, arcadia, FL 34266 where they were informed that nothing could be done about the vehicles failures. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure is not related to recall. Failure mileage is unknown. Jw.
107,000 hwy/city miles. Catastrophic failure of the 2014 Chevrolet Spark's cvt control module and transmission. Dealership inspection revealed; permanently frozen actuators and control valves which cause the vehicle to stall, with engine running, on mild inclines, on ramps, off ramps, in heavy traffic, and stop lights. Very little time between the onset of mechanical - electrical malfunctions which include bucking, slippage and loss of momentum, before the amber "check engine light" deploys. By that time, it's too late. . As stated earlier, loss of momentum on fast-paced interstates and heavy flow traffic lights, placed myself and passengers in unwarranted danger.
Bought a 2014 in July 2016,not even had the vehicle 6 months the radio, onstar, seatbelt chimes all went out. It should have been on the recall list dated 6/2016. Now having issues with the ignition, wont start. Something needs to be done with this. God forbid if the vehicle locked up while I am driving. Thank you.
Vehicle was in motion on street, going straight, when steering locked up and car could not be controlled. This resulted in car going off in a ditch. Speed was approximately 35mph. Right front wheel locked in position, and no control was possible. This was approx. One-eighth of a mile from home. Car was backed out of ditch, and very carefully and slowly driven home. From there it was towed to sapaugh Chevrolet in herculaneum, missouri. Inspection results have been inconclusive. Reported to general motors. We are now afraid to drive the vehicle.
I was going south on i95 doing 70 miles an hour engine light flashed off and on traction control light on car lost speed and will not shift high rp not speed. Was almost in a very bad accident.
I have had to take this car in 4 times because the 4th cylinder keeps going out. The air barely works and I am just so disappointed in this car.
