Service Brakes Problems of Chevrolet Spark

I was driving downhill with the car in l on a highway and brakes failed. I could not engage the brakes at all but somehow the car slowed to a stop and I managed to pull into a parking spot and park. Two lights came service intellitrak and service brake assist. The car has been inspected by the Chevrolet dealership that sold the car to me as well as an independant shop. One technician at the Chevrolet dealership reported he got zero brake pressure and claims that the car needs a new brake pressure modulator. The independant shop reported that they could not replicate the poor brake performance. Two technicians from this shop reported that the car is working as intended.

Vehicle brakes went out suddenly after hearing a loud pop sound. . . Brakes wouldn't respond and pedal hard, ran off road and could only glide to a roll stop and not really then. . . Fortunately a repair shop adjacent so drove their and rolled stop. Initial look shop advised vacuum pump needs to be diagnosed. . . They came back with a 'caution on file #pip5598a which advised of known issue but no recall. . . They came back with a 479$ fee to diagnose exactly what's wrong (those pics enclosed) they are now staring they will not guarantee week or warranty and say engine must be replaced. . . They are still working up quote to repair vacuum pump, camshaft and timing chain but now are saying will be well over 2k to just see if will work and wont guarantee.

Brake system fails while driving. Brakes go soft on car while in use and unable to brake properly. Warning lights and abs brake light comes on the dashboard. This has occurred 4 different times. Each occurrence was followed with several months long repair visits to the dealer who says it’s the brake pump malfunctioning. I have lost control of brakes while driving. Two cases have been directly reported to general motors.

This is the third time while driving that my brakes have simply just gone out. It’s usually on the freeway while at high speeds and I’m nearly not able to stop. This is the third time in three years. No lights come on on the dashboard and no warnings happened at all the brakes just simply stopped working. It takes extreme pressure to try to stop and I’m usually told that it’s some part of the vacuum.

Both brake assist and stabilitrack go out in conjunction with failure lights (no fore-warning). The vehicle was repaired by a Chevrolet dealership with qualified ev tech. Within two weeks that same brake system failures occurred. The issue greatly increases the force needed to press the brake pedal and lengthens braking distance significantly. It also causes a failure in the braking system while at a stop. So after about 16 seconds braking power is reduced to the point of the car rolling forward / backward while the brake pedal is fully depressed.

I have had my 2016 Chevrolet Spark ev in for repairs to three chevy dealers for issues regarding random brake stuttering and complete brake failure resulting in running stop lights and stop signs going 30> mph. Failure and issues are intermittent, but it appears to be an overly sensitive abs/ regenerative braking system locking up the wheels and causing my brake peddle to become ineffective at stopping the car for brief periods of time. All dealerships have been at a loss for how to resolve this and have put me back on the road only to run more red lights after approaching at safe speeds. The rear right wheel makes odd clicking while this happens, leading the techs to believe it was a faulty sensor issue. However, all parts are out of stock for this car in the us and therefore I cannot get the vehicle repaired.

Électronic car brakes stopped working while driving. Had to push hard on break pedal to stop the car. (and I was driving at max 10km/h) after 2 or 3 restart, the break pedal start working again.

My fiance and I were driving on the freeway, and all of a sudden out of no where (no warning lights, nothing). . . The brakes would not stop. The pedal was hard to push down, it wouldn't go down at all. No way to stop. We were on freeway doing about 65/70 mph in chicago!! they traffic is always busy over there. So scary when your car doesn't stop at all!!!! we were driving mostly straight until we could sagely slow down enough to get off on an exit. ( which we had to let it coast down to be able to maneuver the car) this is a major safety alert, I'm scared to drive my vehicle.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Spark. While driving 35 mph, the brakes seized without warning. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation and was driven home. Capital Chevrolet Buick GMC of lexington (96 radio dr, lexington, nc 27292, (336) 248-5108) was contacted and stated that diagnostic testing was needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that an investigation would be started. The failure mileage was approximately 54,990.

When my alternator failed it caused an over current through the abs relay causing damage to the wiring harness melting the bracket and breaking one of the clips the other clip broke when the GMC dealer was doing their inspection. I'm working with an extended warranty that doesn't believe the damage was caused by the alternator and not the dealer.

Got the car in January of 2019. Under 18,000 miles and I was driving on the highway saw smoke and took it to Chevrolet they said the brakes needed to be repaired with boosters and other parts.

I drove from south san francisco, CA, to san francisco, CA (8 miles). The car was operating normally. As I approached the 6th st. Exit, I applied the brakes to my car. There was no response; the brakes felt �locked� under my foot, and the brake pedal would not depress to the floor. The car was moving rapidly forward at freeway speed, and I had no way to slow it down. I then saw the display had a warning something to the effect of �service brakes soon. � I was travelling at approximately 65 miles per hour and very afraid of a collision due to not having any means to stop. The 6th st. Exit had a high ramp, and there was still no response from the brake pedal. Fortunately, the car slowed enough going up the ramp to avoid a collision, and I coasted to the first intersection where I pulled over to assess the situation. The brake pedal would not move at all, and I turned off the car. After about a minute, I turned the car on again, and the brake pedal was working again. There was no warning on the display. I safely pulled out into traffic and continued for about half a mile before parking to meet my husband. Approximately one hour later, I started up the car again, and it appeared to work; there was still no warning signal at all about servicing brakes. I began to make my way back down the street when, two blocks into the drive, the warning signal came on and I was unable to apply the brakes. I was fortunate to be slowly moving through an intersection, and I was able to safely pull over into a parking space at the side of the road. I called my husband, who came in his car to help me. We called for a tow truck and my husband saw to it that the car was taken to serramonte Chevrolet in daly city where it was repaired (cost: $3727. 91, miles: 34,136). The chevy Spark ev does not have a handbrake to manually stop the car, putting the driver at extreme disadvantage.

Got a "service stable track" indication and brakes would lose assisted power randomly while driving down the road. (which is not very safe. ) before this I had a similar problem with loosing assisted brakes after stopping that dealer replaced the brake booster just after I bought it. This time I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and the computer was throwing lots of weird codes. So they took it to the chevy dealer and they determined that the bolts that mount the ebcm to the bpmv were loose. They decided that the bolts weren't tightened enough from a warranty repair on the bpmv that I didn't realize was done less than two years ago since I bought the car used. Technically I feel like we don't really know for sure if the bolts were tightened to the correct torque in the first place or not. I have seen a number of brake problems reported on this model. It sounds like the issue could cause false codes to be reported because the ebcm is not grounded well and also causes air getting into the brake system. My concern is this might not be an isolated incident, but I don't know for sure.

The contact's husband owns a 2018 Chevrolet Spark. The contact stated that the brake booster failed while driving at various speeds on several occasions. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer yearly for the brake booster repair since the initial failure; however, the most recent failure occurred within six months. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

There were two incidents involving the same problem. While driving the vehicle on the highway and then on a main road the brakes locked and I had to use the emergency brake to bring the vehicle to complete stop. My mechanic replaced the engine brake vacuum pump after both incidents. The pump was broken in pieces on both occasions leading to metal parts falling into the engine during repair and needing to be retrieved to prevent engine damage.

As I was driving my brakes got hard preventing me from stopping ,I was driving on my way to pick my sister up and as I went to stop to turn into her driveway my brakes are super hard and I was unable to come to a complete stop for about a quarter of a mile when I took my car in to get it inspected they said my brake booster was out and when they took it off the brake booster vacuum also had to be replaced they said this rarely ever happens but there is also been multiple complaints of it and that there is no warning signs.

105000 miles: lost brakes extremely hard to push brake pedal. Lost vacuum, enabling to stop car safely. Took brake vacuum line off vacuum pump and plug pump so oil don’t leak out pump. Then join the line to an existing vacuum line. Problem solved no issues since. 205000 miles: repeatedly theft mode, flickering dashboard, and dead battery issues. Battery was good charged, alternator charging right. To lead with fusebox circuit board needed to be re-soldered. Have no idea how it happened but no problem since. I still have all factory parts on car. This is a stick shift 5 speed. Get 40ish bit more miles a gallon. Keep oil changed as normal. I float gears when putting around. Leaving less stress for clutch issues. As I’m 208000 so miles still have few miles before replacing factory clutch brake pads belts plugs etc… I keep check at all wear clean up dust collected grease all joints every season. So can’t say much about car being a problem.

From time to time when braking, a thumping sound is heard in the rear drum brakes of my brand new chevy Spark. I cannot decide which one the noise is coming from, or both. It will go away after a while. It occurs more frequently when I need to brake hard, but not always. And it does not happen every day. The car is new. When I took it to the dealer for the very first oil change, I asked them to look into it. They kept the car 3 days. They said they drove it but did not notice any noise. To my surprise, during those three days, the dealership did not pull the wheel and look inside the drum for a broken spring, warping, delamination or some other component defect or system failure. I've never had a car with drum brakes making this sound.

I had taken my Spark for a oil change in April 2017, I had asked to check , replace filters, check and top off all fluids, tire rotation. After all this , I noticed my brakes were squeaking when I move forward slowly. It was recently recall for it's passenger air bag. I'm afraid my brakes will be defected.

It was diagnosed that the brake bleeder valve on the rear passenger wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was advised the contact to call NHTSA. On the way back to my san francisco home from the novato Chevrolet dealer where I had just purchased a new black 2016 Chevrolet Spark ev my brakes stopped functioning. Just coming off the golden gate bridge, on a significant downhill grade, my brakes stopped functioning properly. At first the brakes started to be harder to push and then with my foot to the floor, provided almost no stopping power. The stopping distance was dangerously long. Very dangerous! just over 2 miles. There was no way for me to stop the car immediately. Only minimally . With my foot to the floor, I was able to slow the car enough that 2 miles later, I was finally able to pull over and come to a stop. On the display panel, there were warning lights continuously - "service break assist" - "brake" warning light - "abs" warning light - "tcs" warning light I was lucky to pull over with no (fatal) accident, and then waited almost 3 hours from dusk to night in the dark to have gm tow it back to the dealer, then get a cab, paying out of pocket to go home. The odometer read 37 miles.

Slowly pulled car into the driveway. Entered the garage with my foot on the brake. Half way into garage, the engine over accelerated and made the car lunge forward. My foot was still on the brake pedal. The brakes went into abs mode, with pulsating. The car rammed into some storage totes and also my snowblower. The over acceleration of the engine stopped. All of this took about 10 - 15 seconds. No amount of pressure on the brake pedal stopped this car. No, I did not have my foot on the gas pedal. The car went into my local chevy dealer 2 days later. I was told that they ran some tests, had it up on a lift & even had a mechanic take it out to try to duplicate the problem. Of course, they couldn't find anything wrong. Someone needs to do something about all these over & under acceleration problems before lives are lost! my car has a few minor dents on the hood, from falling totes my snowblower is slightly dented but my nerves are shot. I am really scared to drive this car.

I was driving on the turnpike near west palm beach and I lost control of the vehicle completely. My wife was driving 3 car lengths behind another vehicle. They stopped at a red light, so she applied the brakes. She said the brake pedal was stiff and did not move, also, did not stop vehicle. After fully charging up the electric vehicle, going down hill at approx 40mph, lost all power in brakes, steering control and the forward propulsion system. Due to loss of power veered out of control onto oncoming traffic and braking system was not responding to pumps. After pulling on steering wheel hard finally got vehicle under control and pulled to the side. Vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to dealer. Did not have vehicle and did not drive the vehicle more than 30 miles before incident happened. 2014 chevy Spark electric vehicle. Returned vehicle to dealership permanently.

My husband was pulling the chevy Spark into a parking place when four people decided to cross over it. When the brake was applied to allow them to safely pass, the car accelerated instead. The brakes pressed back against his foot he said and car eventually stopped. We were both confused, surprised and afraid! the car was not driven again until I took it out two days later. It happened once more when I was braking at a red light behind a large truck at a very low speed. I pressed the brake harder a second time and then took my foot off the brake. This time the acceleration continued even after my foot was taken off the brake. I shoved the car into park to get it to stop. I sustained a broken toe and fractured ankle from the force of trying to stop the car. A few months before this, when applying the gas, the car would not accelerate at two consecutive red lights. Engine was very slow and car was not able to accelerate to the speed limit and hesitated all the way home. The car has a factory recall on the air conditioner right now as well, which we received from gm. We are terrified to drive this car not knowing if these defects will continue! the car is in the service department and we are in contact with the dealership about a buy back from gm. We bought the Spark August 30, 2013, so it is not even a year old. I have done a search for others who may be having the same or similar issues. There are reports of very similar incidents on sites for complaints for both issues of brake acceleration and the gas pedal hesitation also reports of the Spark engine stopping in traffic. This is very concerning and dangerous. We hope this is taken seriously and investigated.

Hola my carro chervolet Spark 2014 e tenido muchisimo problema cuando manejo casi me a chocado I enbolucrado en un accidente tiene mucho problema con acelerar voy manejando regular avese cuando aselero como que no me quiere acelerar se traba o se trata DE ahogar el motor y no hacelera el carro que queda en medio DE la calle hasta que se le antoja el carro darme acelerar avese estoy esperando por la luz y el carro cuando la luz se pone verder el carro como se ahoga y no me quiere acelera y eso en muy peligroso ya estoy cansado el carro como que se pone bobo y avece estoy en el freeway velociday 60 mph y trato DE siempre que darme y trato DE seguir la velocida y como que se boba el carro y cuesta muchisimo que suba la velocida ya lo lleve a dealer me dijiero que no encuentra nada ya estoy cansado tendo dos niã±o y tengo muchisimo miedo que alguien me pueda pegar por que el carro no me deja acelerar regular se atora el motor y no mueve si me llama le explico mejor por favor ayudemen.

On multiple occasions I have driven my car and parked it. When I have returned to the car it will not start. On star diagnostics tells me there is a problem with the transmission, engine and anti brake system and that I am to get it to the dealer/repair immediately. I have had to wait several hours before I can get it started again. I have been in situations where I am in an areas without phone or cell reception to call for help. It has been to the dealer repair shop 4 times and they are unable to correct the problem. They say until they can replicate the problem - they cannot fix it. Finally with this last (4th) visit they were able to replicate the problem twice. But I was informed they have no idea where the problem is coming from and they have no solution at this time. They will return the car to me after 9 days as is with no fix. I am afraid to drive across colorado for fear I will be stranded.

I was going to park in a parking space and 4 people went cross in front of me and I applied the brakes and the car accelerated on me and I almost hit them. I hit the brake again and it stopped just in time. Two days later my wife was behind a truck and she had to apply the brake and it did the same thing to her and she broke her 4th toe and sprained her ankle and hurt her hip. The only way she got it stopped was shoving it into park. I had the dealer at crews Chevrolet to toe it in and they say they can find nothing wrong. I refuse to drive it because I am afraid it will happen again. I want gm to take it back and refund my money.
