Engine And Engine Cooling problem #1

After performing all preventative, regular, and even proactive maintenance, the vehicle started shaking and shutting down with 2 miles. We are now being told (by 3 separate mechanics) that it needs an entirely new engine.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #2

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the messages “coolant control valve” and “acceleration reduced – stop vehicle” were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the coolant control valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 104,849.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #3

The engine siezed up due to the issues that are related to the recall. Currently waiting for a new engine, it has been almost 5 weeks and no time frame on when it will be fixed.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #4

While driving on interstate xxx on 4/17/2026 my vehicle lost power I had to pull over on the shoulder thankfully I was able to do so. Restarted the vehicle for just a short bit and it said loss of engine oil pressure and died. Would not restart. Ultimately had to be towed to a gm dealership lynch Chevrolet in [xxx] . Was told the engine was shot and was covered under the safety recall. There was a recall on the motor I had brought it in to get rectified sept 2025. A heavier weight oil was added and filler cap replaced with 40 weight oil identification. . I just had an oil change the day before the incident on 4/16. What is concerning I'm worried about the long wait plus plus online blogs that indicate the engine failed numerous times even after replacement. I was told from the dealership that the engine was on back order and they cannot give me a time on when it's going to be available. But again I'm worried about this vehicle in general in moving forward or trying to anyway. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #5

I purchased a 2023 Suburban on March 6, 2026 with 52,980 miles. I drove it home to my house and parked it. On March 7, 2026 about 6pm, I started the vehicle and heard a loud engine noise. I called the dealership and let them know about the noise. On March 9, 2026 I towed it back to the dealership. The vehicle has been in service since then and was told it needs an engine. Metal spun threw the engine block and has to replaced. I just purchased this vehicle and drove it one day.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #7

Regarding a catastrophic engine failure involving my 2023 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with the 6. 2l l87 engine. There is an active gm service bulletin that we never received from either crabtree or gm. Vehicle details: • purchased in north carolina in 2024 • approximately 4,000 miles at purchase (used, still under factory warranty) • currently at approximately 60,000 miles • within the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty at the time of failure incident details: on Friday 2/20, the engine experienced a confirmed catastrophic failure while my wife was driving on the interstate at highway speed. The vehicle abruptly lost power, creating a significant safety hazard. She was able to maneuver to safety, but the situation presented a serious risk of injury. Gm has since towed the vehicle and confirmed catastrophic engine failure. We have been provided a rental vehicle - not a comparable one either (they refuse to address that also). Given the safety exposure and warranty status, I am evaluating potential potential claims including breach of warranty, implied warranty of merchantability, and any product liability considerations. I am also interested in understanding leverage for buyback, diminished value, risk of serious injury to my wife, or extended warranty resolution. I have preserved documentation, service records, and a written account of the incident.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #8

Engine rattles and noisy, now auto light and message board states "add engine oil).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #9

My 2023 chevy Suburban high country had the l87 engine loss of propulsion (related field action: see special coverage n252494003) recall performed on it and completed on August 15, 2025. Higher viscosity oil was put in. This was at approximately 55,000 miles. While driving on the highway at 60mph on December 29, 2025 the vehicle twice lost propulsion and indicated the vehicle needed to be restarted. I took it to a chevy dealer to have looked at in early January 2026 and they could find no issues or codes. On January 31, 2026 while driving on the hwy at 75 miles per hour the vehicle started to rattle and it lost propulsion. The dic indicatd "system failure" and I had to pull off to the shoulder of the highway. The dic repeated "system failure" and that the vehicle needed to be restarted. The vehicle would not restart when attempting to press the brake and restart. This happened on a busy interstate and the safety and well being of my family inside was put at a risk that could have been avoided, likely if the engine would have been replaced in August of 2025. The temperature outside was in the single digits and there was no air pushing through the vehicle while we waited for a tow truck and another family member to pick us up off the highway. There was no warning lights or messages prior to this happening. The vehicle is currenlty undergoing diagnostic testing at a chevy dealership. This happened at 69,000 miles. This is highly concerning that this could happen in a 95,000 dollar vehicle. This is absolutely a saftey risk. I'm lucky I was able to merge on the interstate in a vehicle that could not maintain the speed with traffic and pull off to the shoulder.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #10

The code that originally came up was p0300 a (engine misfire). I had this truck for one year and it says my fuel injector went bad so I’m getting the whole tune up done. I have the my Chevrolet app connected to my vehicle and it’s saying: the engine/transmission system needs service and the emissions system! mind you I e only had this vehicle for one year I bought it in February 2024 and it’s a 2023! I bought it from lindsay Ford in wheaton MD. I feel as though all this should not be happening in a matter of one year l believe I was sold a defective truck.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #11

After just getting our vehicle back on 12/11/25 from our incident on 11/9/25 when my wife was driving at 70 mph on the highway when the engine blew the first time. Approximately 1300 miles later and 15 days after we picked up the vehicle when I was merging onto the highway the vehicle had a sudden power loss and a smell that filled the cabin. We were able to drive to the next exit and while the vehicle was idling it sounded awful. The check engine light started to flash along with the tcs light and the collision warning lights. After getting to a parking lot when called onstar to tow our vehicle to the closest dealer. I have not received any updates yet but it is very similar to what happened the first time when the engine needed replaced.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #12

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed coolant control valve. The contact was informed that the coolant control valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact referenced a special coverage program: n252508341, however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. In addition, the contact was informed that the NHTSA could add the VIN to the special coverage program. The failure mileage was approximately 134,943.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #13

My 2023 Chevrolet Suburban high country (VIN: [xxx] ) suffered a sudden and dangerous engine failure while my wife was driving 70 mph on the interstate returning from our child’s sled hockey tournament in ohio. The vehicle gave no warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages before the failure. While driving in the right lane, the vehicle began losing power and making a loud noise. My wife exited the highway and contacted onstar, who told her the tow would take over an hour and only cover three miles to closest dealer, leaving her stranded in an unsafe area. She attempted to carefully reach a nearby dealership. During this attempt, the vehicle completely shut off and she lost all engine power. The vehicle lost all power making the final turn into the dealership coming to rest in the middle of oncoming traffic of a four lane road. The Suburban would not restart. A tow truck arrived and transported the vehicle to a dealership. When they arrived, the tow driver noticed smoke and a strong burning odor coming from the engine compartment and told her to move away from the vehicle because it could potentially catch fire. The vehicle was left in the lot with the hood open and positioned away from the building for safety. The dealership has determined the engine suffered a catastrophic failure and requires complete replacement. Multiple related components may also be affected. This occurred on a vehicle with only 54,000 miles that was purchased three months earlier. This incident created a serious safety risk for my wife, who was nearly stranded on an interstate and had to maneuver a powerless vehicle across several lanes of traffic. I am reporting this to NHTSA due to the sudden failure at highway speed, lack of warning, and potential fire hazard. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #14

I was driving the vehicle and without warning it just stopped shut off and immediately shot an error code that there was a critical issue with the engine and that the oil pressure was low, and the vehicle would not start and was not drivable. It had to be towed to a dealership.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #15

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, there was an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the engine, with the check engine and traction control warning lights illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact restarted the vehicle and drove to an independent mechanic. The mechanic performed a diagnostic test on the vehicle and discovered a misfire in cylinder #3. The mechanic replaced the cylinder #3 ignition coil; however, the failure persisted. The contact then had another independent mechanic at the same shop inspect the vehicle, and the mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #16

I am driving a 2023 Suburban z71, continually on and of of the engine light and "reduction in acceleration, drive with care" this truck has the same issue and same engine as the recall, but is not included. Yesterday I was almost t boned at an intersection because the vehicle would not develop enough power to get across a street at a stop sign. One of the scariest and near disastrous occurrences of my life. This truck is deadly.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #17

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #18

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - initially, the vehicle began making loud 'clanking' sounds from the engine, which immediately affected the ability to drive the vehicle. Upon further inspection by a third-party mechanic, it was determined that the crank shaft had malfunctioned. This is a known recall for our vehicle type (model, year, engine), however, no recall notice has been received at this time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - the vehicle was slowing abruptly while in drive mode, potentially causing a vehicular accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - yes, we did not deliver the vehicle to a dealer, as no assistance was initially offered when we made an attempt to call and inquire. However, a third-party mechanic was able to determine the issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? - not at this time, as the dealer we initially inquired with did not seem inclined to assist. We consulted with a third party. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -no. Failure messages or icons came on after the engine failure began.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #19

Not sure the exact cause yet. But another big leak of coolant from the car. This is the 4th big problem with the same issue. I have been dealing with engine/radiator/coolant problems with this car since April 2024. It has been in the shop 2 separate times for 9 weeks total. With other visits in between. There is something wrong with this car.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #20

Our Chevrolet Suburban has 57,000 miles on it. We have started getting a check engine light and I’m getting code p1098 for the cooling control valve. This is a very common issue on these vehicles I’m noticing now. From what I’m reading in February of this year (2025) gm gave this issue an e code so these valves would no longer be covered pay the powertrain and they would now fall under emissions for a much shorter warranty coverage. This has been and ongoing issue since 2020. These valves are also commonly found to be on national back order causing long lead times and driving of the vehicles without properly functioning. Gm knows these are and issue and shortening the warranty is not the fix. These vehicles weren’t bought with a short warranty and shouldn’t be able to be reduced to a short warranty.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #21

Its been over a month and the dealership is unable to remedy this defect. I also called gm and they said the recall in incomplete and its in the preliminary stage. We are concerned that this is a serious safety recall and gm will not offer alternative solutions in a reasonable time.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #22

Dealer attempting to sell 2023 Chevrolet Suburban with 6. 2l engine and no corrective action under n252494000.

Engine need replaced because the common lifters problem in 5. 3l engine. It happens at 41k and now at 100,00k. Dealer don’t want to admit this safety issue and need to be investigated this is not acceptable.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #29

I’m filing this complaint regarding a serious safety concern with my 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle is affected by NHTSA recall 25v274 related to a potential defect in the crankshaft or connecting rods. Gm has confirmed the recall, but there is currently no fix available, and dealerships are not equipped to inspect the engine to determine if it’s defective. This leaves us driving a vehicle with a known risk of sudden engine failure, especially at highway speeds or while towing. In addition, my vehicle is also experiencing a transmission issues and is expected to be in the shop for up to three months for repairs. The combination of an unresolved engine recall and a failing transmission makes this vehicle unsafe and unreliable. We are a family of six with four small children (two in car seats, two in boosters). We purchased this Suburban specifically for safety, towing capacity, and long-distance driving. Right now, we are left without a safe or functional vehicle. Gm refuses to provide a comparable rental and has offered only $44/day, which doesn’t cover anything close to what we need. We’ve attempted to work through gm and our local dealership to resolve the issue, but we’ve been passed back and forth with no solution. I’m concerned that gm is knowingly allowing vehicles with unresolved safety defects to remain on the road with families inside them. I’m asking NHTSA to investigate the handling of this recall and the delays in the transmission repair that are putting families like mine at risk.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #30

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #31

The 2023 Suburban started shuttering on idle and loosing power on drive due to a misfire in bank 4, the fuel injector was changed, but the problem persisted. And now the dealer says that I need to change all 8 injectors. 2900 job on a car with 54000 miles. Crazy.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #32

Driving on the expressway my vehicle would not accelerate over 53mph. I then noticed the vehicle losing power where I then had to pull over onto the shoulder. The vehicle lost power and would not restart or go into neutral. Ultimately the vehicle had to be towed.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #33

Without warning my 2023 chevy Suburban started making a terrible noise, lost all power and died in the middle of the road. I was unable to restart the vehicle. It was towed to the nearest dealer 75 miles away and has been sitting there for 30 days with no idea when an engine will be available.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #34

6. 2l l87 engine failure with 36,000 miles on it. While driving on the highway and attempting to pass another vehicle that was traveling on a 2-lane highway the car suddenly died, and the transmission shifted into neutral. When I noticed the vehicle would not accelerate, I looked down and saw the push to start warning and tried to restart the vehicle with no response. I had to allow the vehicle I was passing to get ahead of me before I could swap back into that lane to get out of the way of oncoming traffic eventually coasting onto the side of the road to a complete stop. The vehicle I was passing slowed down after the engine died not knowing what I was doing and drove right beside me blocking the lane until I signaled for them to go ahead so I could get back into the lane. If the vehicle in the oncoming lane had not slowed down to allow me time to get back into the proper lane a head on collision would have occurred. This 2023 vehicle was purchased used 14days prior from a gm certified dealership and had no warning lamps on the dash and showed no indication a failure was about to occur. The vehicle was driving perfectly normal until the failure occurred. Once the vehicle was towed to the dealership it was determined the engine had failed due to crankshaft bearings. The dealership explained there were no available replacement gm engines and could possibly be a lead time of 6 months before a replacement engine could arrive. I purchased the vehicle for $60,000 and the engine fails 14 days later and now I could be without a vehicle for 6 months and the dealership did not have any loaner vehicles available.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #35

My 2023 high country Chevrolet Suburban's v8 6. 2l engine failed 6 hours from home while our family was en route to colorado. It was towed to the closest city and the dealership informed me the engines are on a nationwide backorder and it could be months before one is made available. The dealership stated that gm will not release information as to where the customer is on "the list" of recipients. My car has 44,000 miles and is well maintained. It has been in the shop for other repairs - suspension issues, tech package problems (wifi, onstar, google and navigation not working properly). Spoke with gm representative and was told if the engine makes it onto the recall list the repair will be expedited. Not sure how that is possible with so many engines failing. Maybe gm/Chevrolet will be forced to increase production.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #36

My 2023 Chevrolet Suburban with the 5. 3l v8 engine has experienced lifter failure twice within less than [20,000 miles]. Both times the vehicle developed a misfire, engine belt like noise and was diagnosed by the Chevrolet dealership as having collapsed afm/dfm lifters. All oil changes have been done at the dealership using gm-approved oil. The issue appears to be a known problem on 2021–2023 gm vehicles with the 5. 3l l84 engine. Gm has a technical service bulletin (pip5776h) regarding lifter collapse, but no permanent fix has been provided. I am concerned this could lead to engine failure or stalling while driving, creating a safety hazard.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #37

Transmission valve control failed. Rear wheels locked up. Vehicle downshifted quickly. No injuries. Vehicle is at dealership for repairs. No warnings.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #38

Middle of engine started making a tapping sound. Went to closest dealership service department. They said it was most likely an issue with the valve train but we should be able to get home. Within 10 miles, the engine completely seized up while on the highway loosing all power. Was able to get to the side of the highway. Towed the vehicle to the dealership that we bought from. They said it was going to need a new engine just as soon as they could find one.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #39

Engine failed while driving on highway. Would not restart. Towed to Chevrolet dealer who determined engine full of metal debris requiring total engine replacement.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #40

Without any warning driving 65 mph down a freeway the Suburbans motor totally shut down. We had to cross over 2 lanes without getting hit by all the traffic. No dashboard lights ever came on until after we got onto the shoulder and sat there for an hour then the check engine light came on. We got stranded 2 hours from our vacation spot in az and now we’re stranded 1,600 miles from our home in mn. After 5 hours in the middle of the desert the tow truck finally showed up and towed the vehicle to sands dealership in surprise az. We have never had any other problems before this happened. Never thought at 2023 vehicle with 30,000 miles would blow motor. Waiting to hear from gm on what our options are to get it fixed and get us back home!.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #41

The engine seized while I was driving. The dealer discovered a crack in the engine block, which caused the oil to leak out. Unfortunately, the warranty had expired at 60,000 miles. The dealer replaced the engine with a brand-new one. So, I had to cover the full repair cost of approximately $6,830. 29 out of pocket.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #42

I was cruising at 45 - 50 mph and the vehicle went into neutral, shut off, would not restart, and would not shift into drive. I pulled into a publix. I pressed the start /stop button and the dash turned off. I turn pressed the brake and pressed the ignition button and the Suburban started up. Drove out of the parking lot and began accelerating when the vehicle shut off again. I could not restart the vehicle. I was able to coast into a gas station parking lot, but half of the vehicle was sticking out into the road. The vehicle would not go into neutral and would not start. The vehicle was towed to palm Chevrolet in ocala, florida.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #43

My 6. 2l v8 engine blew up while I was driving across bridge and I barely had enough time to get it off the road out of traffic.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #44

I was on [xxx] in athens, GA. Going about 65mph in the left lane, casually passing a slow truck. It was rainy, in a construction zone, heavy traffic. With no warning lights or indication there was a problem the engine suddenly died and shifted itself into neutral. I had just started going up hill, no left lane median but I managed to barely make the right shoulder, when the vehicle came to a stop it shifted into park, from that point forward the vehicle was locked down. I was so close to the traffic I had to fold the drivers mirror. I literally sat on the passenger side of the truck with my seat belt fastened because I expected to be hit. Took about 1. 5 hours for tow truck. The tow truck driver was nearly hit trying to load the truck, several accidents were narrowly avoided by people trying to move over. Truck taken to auto gallery Chevrolet in commerce GA, after three weeks they confirmed the engine had to be replaced and it would be done under warranty. I have not been told the exact nature of the failure, but they did confirm the engine could not be rotated. They could not tell me how long it would take to find and engine but there was another vehicle with the same issue that was ahead of me. To the best of by knowledge Chevrolet has accepted the failure report completed by the technician but have not otherwise engaged. I have not been provided any documentation from the dealership. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #45

Replaced battery 2/1/25 car shaking terribly, my kids screaming we were going to “explode” , car smoking, white smoke coming from exhaust -chevy service dept. States there is an engine issue, they will need to break down and replace parts / repair.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #46

I was driving the vehicle at approximately 45 mph when the vehicle suddenly had no engine power. There were no warning signals or symptoms of an issue that would indicate there was a problem, but the dashboard told me the vehicle needed a restart. I was able to pull the vehicle out of traffic at a cross street and coast to a stop in a parking lot. Had I not been where I was at the moment when the engine failed, or had there been oncoming traffic that would have required me to stop coasting, I would not have been able to pull safely out of traffic. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was purchased. They told me the next day that is was an internal engine failure.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #47

Traveling [xxx] on [xxx] through pascagoula, ms at approximately 70mph. The engine revved high then put itself into neutral and shutdown. I was able to coast safely to the shoulder of the road. There had been no prior warning of potential problems. The vehicle engine seized up and could not be placed into neutral for the tow service to safely load it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #48

Traveling at high speed on major highway and engine stopped. Unable to get car restarted and in fact the instrument panel and information center blanked out. Was forced to have vehicle towed approximately 60 miles to purchasing dealership for diagnosis. Dealer indicates engine is seized and will require replacement. Vehicle has had excellent, verifiable, maintenance record. We have owned this vehicle for approximately 18 months and currently has approximately 62,000 miles. Upon research, I have learned that our vehicle is not the only gm product to have this premature failure.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #49

January 19, 2025, driving on interstate 90 westbound at mile marker 150, 4 miles east of moorcroft, wyoming, the vehicle lost power and engine quit. We made it to the side of the road and vehicle would not start. The temperature was negative 5 degrees. With cell phone service, we were able to secure a ride and a towing company before we got extremely cold in the car. The vehicle was towed by manning's towing of gillette, wyoming to white's frontier motors, 444 skyline drive, gillette, wy 82718. After 10 days in the shop, the service department diagnosed the engine was inoperable and the vehicle would need a new engine. There was no indication of the engine failure prior to its failure. To date I have had 15 communications with the service department at the dealership and gm motors with no resolution or date of repair.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #50

Wife is rn at a trauma hospital going to work in the morning on a busy highway. While in front of hospital truck started to indicate to hit starter button. Truck was already running! wife stopped at red light. Truck stopped running would not start. Stuck in middle of morning rush hour traffic had to have truck towed to dealership. At the dealership they indicated they found metal parts in the oil pan. They indicated a further look into the engine indicated it was beyond repair and had to be replaced. Truck only had 42k miles on it. They stated they had another one same situation in the shop as well and that it would take several weeks to repair. I have learned that this is a major problem with this make and model and engine. Engine quit with no warning in middle of major highway. Thank god not in an intersection or freeway.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #51

In October 2024, the vehicle just shut off while we were driving down the road. Had to pull off to the side and got it going after about 5 minutes. Couldn't get the vehicle to replicate the problem so nothing chevy could do. No check engine light. No codes were given. On January 4th the vehicle started making a horrible noise. But then stopped making the noise on January 5th. Called olympia, washington Chevrolet to get it in to be looked at. Soonest appointment they had was February 5th. I made the appointment. February 11th, the engine seized and quick working completely. February 13th, had the vehicle towed to the nearest Chevrolet. Getting the vehicle into neutral and on the tow truck was terrifying. Makes me question the transmission. My vehicle has been at Chevrolet since January 13th. Today is March 11th. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle once it does get fixed. It has left me stranded twice. Once when it just shut off and another when it actually broke down for good.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #52

I was driving my family to san antonio for a vacation when the vehicle suddenly stopped working. The display read restart engine but the car just abruptly stopped and I was forced to pull to the side of the road. Once the car came to a complete stop the car shifted into park and could not shift out of park. The car would not start, display would read conditions not met? I had to have the car towed to the dealership. They are giving me a hard time.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #53

When traveling at highway speeds our vehicle suddenly lost all engine power. Driving in the passing lane of [xxx] at 75 mph our 2023 Chevrolet Suburban rst 6. 2 lost all engine power and went into neutral. We were barely able to make it over to the right breakdown lane without getting hit and making it with no power. We were stranded on the busy interstate for three hours with my wife and three young kids in a very dangerous location. They were scared and because we barely made it into the breakdown lane and so close to speeding traffic had to stand outside of the vehicle close to the woods further from dangerous traffic. The Suburban was flatbedded to nearest Chevrolet dealer where we were told the engine was seized and would need to be totally replaced. We were lucky to be alive but now stranded 1000 miles away from home as we were returning from a vacation in florida. The sudden lose of all engine power traveling on the highway with our entire family was both scary and dangerous. The Suburban has now been in the shop for three weeks with no date in sight to be ready and 1000 miles away. This was a truly dangerous situation and thankfully we came out unscathed but I fear someone else may experience the same type of failure and not be so lucky. Engine And Engine Cooling problem #54

On January 1st driving east bound on road 520 in central florida. I was driving around 65mph when the vehicle suddenly shut off. The displayed showed a warning saying that something of the sort that I needed to press the brake to start the engine even though I was driving normally. I had to coast to the side of the road and I pressed the brake. Once the brake was engaged the vehicle immediately went to park and will not start. I press the ingition button and the screen would go blank and no sound or warnings were displayed. I had to call the police to provide a safety as the vehicle was in a very dangerous area and all my family was on the vehicle. The police laid down flares and I contacted a tow truck using onstar. Onstar was unable to communicate with the vehicle to diagnosed the issue and no warnings or errors were displaying. The vehicle was towed to carl black Chevrolet of orlando florida. The dealer stated that the engine is locked (l87) and was not able to turn, therefore the vehicle does not start. The dealership technicians have informed that the vehicle needs a new engine and gm needs to approved, the vehicle is still under warranty and I've contact gm and until today, 17 days later, gm has not responded or allowed the dealership to fix my vehicle.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #55

While driving my family home from our christmas vacation on the garden state parkway (NJ) the engine shut off and would not restart. This happened on a stretch of the highway with no shoulder while traveling at 65mph. Thankfully we were able to coast far enough to a section of highway with a shoulder. This incident left my [xxx] , [xxx] , my wife and I and our dog stranded in the freezing cold 100 miles from home. After a stressful next few days the Chevrolet dealership diagnosed it as blown bearings in the motor. It has now been over three weeks and no word from gm when a new motor will be available. Engine And Engine Cooling problem #56

I was driving on [xxx] in rural montana (zero cell phone coverage) on [xxx] (freezing weather, snow packed roads). Without warning the Suburban just shut down. It seemed to still have "power". Interior lights worked ect. But the engine just died. I tried to pull mostly off of the road but I couldn't get it entirely off of the road because of the snow pushed off of the road by snow plows. I tried to restart the vehicle several times but it would not turn over. I assumed it was an electrical issue at the time. There was zero warning that there was any engine issue. When a mechanic finally had the opportunity to look into the issue he told me the engine has seized up. I had to walk several miles in the cold hoping to get cell phone service to get to a place to warm up. I also couldn't get the vehicle off of the road and I was sure the vehicle was going to be hit or cause an accident on the narrow highway. Engine And Engine Cooling problem #64

On April 7th 2024 we were traveling on vacation 2 1/2 hours from home and our vehicle started making a ticking noise and traction control, engine light, service emissions, and front collision warning all came on. It was idling very rough. We had to stop for the night with our kids and take it to the closest dealer the next morning. They diagnosed the car and confirmed that the lifters needed repair. We had to leave our vehicle and get a rental to make it back home. The dealer made repairs and sent vehicle back to us. Fast forward to 1/15/25 I was on the way to work and the same thing started happening. I then had to tow the vehicle to the dealership and they have diagnosed it with the same issue on the other side of the engine. As a brand new vehicle this should not be happening. Each time we were stranded with kids and without a vehicle for a long period of time.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #65

Brand new 2023 Suburban radiator ruptured at 14,000 miles. Radiator and hoses replaced April 2024 and the car has ongoing issues since then. Most recently the car has a strong coolant smell and the dealership states they cannot find a leak or source of the smell. I have worked with 2 different dealerships on this matter. I was told that the radiator was a “poorly manufactured part” when it originally ruptured. No safety warnings ever appeared even when the oil was dripping out of the bottom after the original rupture. Oil and coolant had mixed in the coolant reservoir and no warning light ever signaled. The most recent coolant smell poses a safety risk to my families respiratory system as the manufacturer states they cannot find the source of the smell and have tried to return to vehicle to me twice with the strong odor coming out of the vents. We have had the coolant reservoir flushed several times as oil remains in their, hoses replaced, and ongoing service visits for a year for the same thing since the original rupture in April 2024.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #66

While driving the vehicle on an extended road trip trip on the interstate the vehicle randomly shut off while driving at highway speeds. When the vehicle turned off all interior and exterior lights did not work. The engine turned off. In order to begin driving again the vehicle needed to be restarted. This issue happened 3 separate times. In between, the vehicle has been turned off. It is a safety issue to have your vehicle turn off randomly while driving at any speed. The issue has not been reproduced by the dealer. The vehicle has been seen by the dealer and stated "they are unable to find any issue" there was not indication before or after the 3 events that would indicate issue.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #67

Driving the vehicle on an interstate highway with the flow of traffic at 70 mph, without warning the engine shut off. This caused loss of speed and loss of power steering, almost causing me to be hit in the rear end twice at highway speeds. There were no warning lights or any instrument indication prior to the failure. After barely being able to get the vehicle into the brakedown lane, the vehicle would not restart. The electronics all worked, there were no warnings or indicator lights but the engine would not start despite multiple attempts by myself and the tow truck driver. The vehicle is currently at the dealership being diagnosed.
