Windshield Wiper/washer Motor problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe

The windshield wiper comes on and off intermittently. Without prior warning. Dealer is aware of the problem. Ts this vehicle runs off of ethanol. At times, the wipers will not shut off. Repairs have not been made as of yet.

The NHTSA campaign id #98v150001 to replace this part included vehicles prior to my VIN #. I want to report that I also had problems and finally had to have windshield wiper motor circuit board replaced. I want you to be aware that additional vehicles may need to be included in the recall for this replacement. I paid $50 for labor and $53. 47 for the part. I believe gm should reimburse me for this cost.

Windshield wipers will intermittently stop working. This vehicle is not part of recall 98v150001.

While driving and using the windshield wipersthey only work intermittently, causing poor visibilty. The manufacturer has been notified, but my VIN is not under the recall even though chevy trucks made from 1994-1996 were recalled for the same problem.

Front windshield wipers intermittently stopped working, causing poor visibility . Wire was strapped down to the motor housing causing pressure . The dealer was notified.

Windshield wipers become inoperable in rainy conditions due cracks in the solder joint. Vehicle not included in recall 98v150001 due to VIN.

Solder joints near wiring harness connector cracked, causing windshield wipers to become inoperable. Vehicle not included in recall 98v15000 due to VIN. They stopped completely in middle of windshield almost causing an accident.

Windshield wipers malfunctioned, causing visibility problems which could result in crash. Dealer repaired circuit board. But charged consumer because this vehicle wa s not included in the recall due to VIN. Please provide further information.

I replaced windshield wiper motor at my own expense/ circuit board did not come with new motor and had to be transfered from old unit. This was covered under a recall NHTSA 98v15001 however it covered vehicles mfg. Up to 5/96 mine was mfg 6/96 yet it has the problem covered in the recall which is to correct an intermittent wiper failure. It's a real treet to be driving down the interstate and have your wipers quit. You can pull over, open the hood, and slap the wiper unit and it will resume working for a while. .

Windsheild wipers work in raining conditions for a certain amount of time and then stop. They will attempt to start back in 5 minutes , and start the same problem all over again. Consumer has mentioned the recall to the manufacturer. But this vehicle was not under the recall. Dealer isn't correcting the problem because the VIN # doesn't match the recall.

Windshield wiper will turn off during operation or it will not work at all, causing poor visibility. Consumer claims recall notice was sent out, but manufacturer and dealer claim this vehicle does not fall under recall due to VIN.
