Two problems related to power steering pump have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The steering appears to over compensate during cornering. It feels as if there is a sudden boost in power steering pump pressure to the steering box. This causes the driver's existing turning pressure on the steering wheel to turn the truck to abruptly during cornering.
When slowing up to make a turn power steering goes out. Mechanic thinks the power steering pump is defective. Consumer has not repaired vehicle at this time. There is an open investigation at this time, ea-99-011.
