Three problems related to air brake wheel speed sensor have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
During the past 6-9 months, my vehicle anti-lock brakes activate while attempting to slow/stop from slower speeds. The result is a severely increased breaking distance and threat for impact. This has occured several times.
In reference to the current investigation of gm trucks and suvs for brake problems (abs) at low-speed. This was reported on the news today (05/02/05). The corrosion around the abs hub sensors is a well-known problem. My 1999 chevy Tahoe has had this problem for months. Most repair places want to replace the hubs for a very high price ($500+ per wheel). This is ridiculous!!! I pulled my abs fuse until I can get rid of the corrosion myself. Recall these vehicles now! the chevy/GMC truck-SUV community has been aware of this forever, gm ignores it!!!.
Nhtsa recall 05v379000: at under 5 mph rear-ended another car. Despite standing on brake peda 1999 Tahoe 4x4 would not stop. The stopping distance was approximately 35 feet. Often when front tires were turned right rear tire locked. I think the abs sensor problem extended to more states.
