Chevrolet is well aware of the horns not working from 97 to 2006 horns not working. The horn failure happens with no notice. This can lead to death by not giving warning to others. It's a bad design flaw they've gm is well aware of. The contact switch corrods and will not make contact. Gm wants $800 to fix the problem. Do a quick search and you will see 1000's of complaints on the issue. I'm sure it has lead to numerous deaths that the cause was unknown. We almost dead today when someone pulled out in front of us with no horn.
The light showing what gear you are in has gone out. It starts on then fades off. I looked up and found a recall - #05v055000 which is what is wrong with my car. When I called chevy - they said my VIN shows no open recalls. This makes no sense to me being that I am having that exact problem and my year make and model show that as a recall? how can they pick and chose which cars were affected by the recall??.
While traveling down the highway the sunroof glass came off the roof and shattered. I have electrical problems with this automobile and I am now assuming it is related to this sun roof problem. I have found there was a recall at one time, but my vehicle was not repaired. What do I do?.
Was driving to work when my truck read "reduced engine power", luckily I was pulling into the parking lot of my job! today I'm in a whole other city and it just happened again so I'm stranded!.
My rear liftgate and window for my 2005 chevy Tahoe will not unlock. This is a dangerous issue. I've read a blog of almost 300 different owners that are having this issue . . . Read more...
The liftgate and glass will not unlock and there is no release from the inside so you are trapped if something happens. I have looked to see if there is a recall and there is not. I have contacted gm with no response as well as seeing hundreds of other people post online that are in the same situation. This makes the car a death trap in case of accident, fire, going in water as you cannot get out of the car from the inside if you are in the rear nor can someone run around the back and open the handle to try to get someone out in the case of an emergency. Something needs to be done ASAP!.
When attempting to crank vehicle, it just turned over acting like it was not firing. Will finally crank after several attempts. After having issue looked at by a mechanic, he stated that ignition was sending a false signal to cam. Shortly after the odometer started giving a error and cannot get the present mileage any longer. Just learned of this site and was trying to see if others were having the same problems. Have not yet taken to mechanic on issue with odometer.
When releasing the emergency brake I heard a loud snapping noise. I noticed that the release lever was very lose and my emergency brake had not fully disengaged. I had just picked my kids up from school when this happened. I was still able to drive at a slow speed with an annoying chime going off since the break had not fully disengaged. My husband being a mechanic looked at the release lever when he pulled on it the lever along with the bicycle brake wire came off. I could not believe gm used such a cheap wire. This wire had snapped and started unraveling. If I would have pressed on the emergency brake again I would not have been able to drive. We ordered a new oem part that my husband will be putting in. This is on top of all the the other repairs that have been made on our Tahoe last year our transfer case went while I was driving 72000 miles on the SUV. The transfer case had to change along with having our transmission rebuilt. Our stability control message was going on and off. I haven't seen this message for awhile now. Only one light is working on the steering wheel these lights burnt out on our third year of ownership. A year ago while driving my kids to school the truck completely shut down no warning just shut down. I had to put it in park to restart it. I called the dealership close by they said they had never heard of this happening but next time it happens bring it in. This was our first brand new car purchase back in 2005, we own two other cars that were pre-owned both BMW they are over 20 years old and we have not had half the problems we have seen with our Tahoe. This will be our last american made vehicle we will purchase BMW, mercedes, or Toyota will be our next family vehicle. We will not purchase another gm. Quality and dependability is definitely not a priority.
Approximately 1 year ago the gear shift indicator began to be dimmer than the other dash displays. The dealership said nothing was wrong. Since then it is now no longer visible and it is not possible to visually determine what gear the vehicle is in. I have been told that it is not covered under gm recall 05023 (NHTSA 05v055000).
The speedometer only works intermittently. It will seem to be reporting the correct speed then changes to a speed we could not be going. Usually under reporting the correct speed. We will be going between 50 and 60 mph and it will read 30. This has been going on for several years and we have tried to compensate by using the tachometer but lately I don't feel I can trust it either. The repair is between $400 and $500 and I now read others are having the same problem. I'm sure there are many others like me who have not reported this issue because I only found out about this site today.
The oil guage on my 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was replaced on April 6, 2011. The needle was as far over on the right side of the guage (looking at it) as it could go. It clearly was not reading the amount of oil pressure. The entire dash panel had to be replaced to correct this problem after it was determined there were no bad connections to the unit. The dash part was $350. 00.
