1 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2011

When I pressed the power lock opener to unlock all the doors in my Tahoe, the liftgate where the children's seats are located did not unlock automatically. It was then I discovered that there is no emergency or manual way to open the liftgate in the event of the actuator failing! there is no release on the inside and no key slot opener on the outside. A little research told me that this is a common problem with this model of car. I don't understand how there was not a recall on these vehicles that are an obvious danger to children and / or other passengers. An emergency lever or keylock should be mandatory on these vehicles.

2 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. While the vehicle was parked, the electronic hatch rear door would not open. The vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer or mechanic. The vehicle was not been repaired. The contact was concerned since someone could become trapped in the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 67,392 and the current mileage was 67,692. Updated 08/24/10. The rear hatch/liftgate lock function became inoperable in the locked position. The locks are all electric and there is no way to open the back end of the vehicle. Updated 08/25/jb.

3 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2008

The lift gate and the rear window on my 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe will not unlock and therefore cannot be opened. The lift gate unlocks with the keyless remote or the passenger or driver door unlock buttons, neither of which presently opens the tailgate or rear window. There is no way a passenger can exit the vehicle from the tailgate and this is a safety hazard along with a useless cargo area. This failure occurred at 50,000 miles.

4 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated the rear lift gate would fail to open. The dealer replaced the lift gate actuator remote control to correct the failure. The failure recurred within two years. The dealer advised having a diagnostic performed before making any repairs. The contact was concerned with the safety of the vehicle in the event of a crash. The failure mileage was approximately 55,326 and the current mileage was approximately 101,000.
