The digital information center (dic) located in the instrument panel cluster (ipc) has stopped working. However, all of the non-digital gauges such as speedometer, fuel, etc still work properly. All of the digital displayed info such as odometer, gear select, mpg, tire psi, etc, is no longer visisble. This defect/malfunction occurred unexpectedly about 4 months ago. The defect/malfunction occured while the vehicle was parked (not moving) in my driveway. I simply got in and turned the key on to start the engine, and the dic was noticeably blank. I looked on-line and called several dealerships for info regarding repairs,, and I quickly learned that this exact defect/malfunction is extremely common among 2007-2016 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Gm should be held responsible by issuing a recall. Also, for no reason and without any cause, my dashboard cracked above the passenger side airbag. This is also a very common defect with my specific vehicle make/model. If the airbags were to deploy, would they deploy properly? and even if the airbags deploy properly, im afraid shards of the plastic from dashboard will shoot all over the car resulting in injury.
Takata recall , previous gm recall complaint #49152. It has been a year and a half since NHTSA and Chevrolet was notified of my request to have passenger side airbag replaced. My Chevrolet dealership (country Chevrolet) denied my request to have airbag turned off until replacement parts were obtained. Every time my wife rides in the passenger seat she is putting her life at risk. Instead of the government taking these big fines against the companies, why don't they buy the air bags to replace the defective ones. Do you think that 18 months is an acceptable time table for fixing a national recall? it is no wonder the average citizen is so disgusted by the snail like pace that the federal government works. It seems as if our government agrees with these behemoth corporations that it is easier and less costly to just pay the family after they have lost a loved one than to proactively solve the problems.
Takata recall / gm recall 49152. My wife & I received the aforementioned recall from gm. In the body of the recall letter it states that takata had decided our passenger side airbag is defective. Gm states they will issue a recall unless the can prove the airbags are not defective. So, I called gm to see what is the time frame to complete this investigation. Gm could not provide me with any information on how long it would be for gm to finish it's investigation. In fact gm didn't even indicate they have started yet. This is unacceptable to me as a consumer. Now I'm left with a car I purchased new from gm and am not able to use the vehicle for it's intended purpose. One has to assume that gm did their due diligence when purchasing the airbags and now that a recall has been issued by the manufacturer that decision is not good enough for gm. It's obvious to me the longer it takes for gm to prove the recall is not warranted the fewer recalled vehicles will be on the road which I have no doubt will be a benefit to gm but certainly not to the consumer. The simple question "how long will gm's investigation to prove to NHTSA's safitsfaction the recall is not needed take?". This leaves the consumer in a situation with no idea of when a resolution to the problem will come.
The dealer has done nothing to replace the passenger side air bag parts called them a month ago reff# 8-2304849524 this is a takata recall.
Passenger side airbag explosively inflated while driving approximately 30 miles per hour on an inner city street. No jarring or collision occurred directly prior to this incident. This appears unprovoked and poses a major safety risk to consumer. We have young children who could have been seriously injured in this incident. Thankfully they were not in the vehicle at the time and it was the passenger side which exploded and not the driver side. Any of theses scenarios would have (and did) easily endanger the driver and other individuals on or near the road when incident occurred. I immediately turned into a Chevrolet dealership and am currently awaiting word on what exactly caused the airbag inflation.
Dashboard is cracked in three locations. 1st and 2nd: over passenger side airbag from upper corners of the airbag to the air-vent panel 3rd: approximately 8 inches along the top of the driver instrument panel to the air-vent panel. Additional separation between panels is created during temperature changes or running the heater in cold weather. Have had two dealerships tell me it is a normal, known, and reoccurring problem with the body-style but offered to replace it for over $1,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated the dash is cracked above the passenger side air bag as well above the speedometer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that it was a common problem with this model vehicle and gave a quote to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue however the stated that they considered the failure as cosmetic. The vehicle failure mileage was 111,000. Kh.
All side airbags curtains deployed for no apparent reason. The dash board has a long crack nearly the entire length.
The passenger side air bag has a big crack in the dash right above the air bag. This concerns me as I have 4 children and am scared that this may deploy while one of them is in the front seat. I see that there are many complaints on this same issue. I also have an issue with the asb light and stabilitrak lights where they are both on in the driver display dash. Every once in a while they will reset, but then in a day or so these error messages come back on. I also noticed that there are many complaints on this issue as well. Please gm do a recall on these issues!!.
Dash is cracked in 3 places as of today 9/30/14 and one place is next to the passenger side airbag.
I noticed a crack in my dashboard about 5 months ago. This crack is directly beside the passenger side airbag and is about 1-2 inches long. The opposite end of the crack (not connected to the airbag) has splintered off into more than just one crack. My concern is if the air bag is deployed, will this cause shattering and debris to fly into the face of my passengers and myself?.
Tl - the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the front and rear side air bags deployed erroneously. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised that the insurance company should inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 75,000. Kmj.
I was traveling on a state highway to an event. This was the second day of the event, so I had traveled the same road the day prior. I slowed to cross railroad tracks. While crossing the tracks, the front and middle side airbags deployed on both the driver's and passenger's sides. The force of the deployment also cracked areas around the interior walls and blew out the rear overhead light. I am not sure exactly what, but something struck me on the top of my head at the time of the deployment. Fortunately, I had slowed to cross the tracks or there could have been a different outcome.
The dash has cracked behind the passenger side air bag for no apparent reason. I am afraid if the bag deploys it will throw the piece as a projectile and hit the passenger. Many complaints on the internet, gm is selectively assisting in repair. I was informed they would not help me because I have an aftermarket radio and alarm, neither of which is anywhere near the passenger side.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving approximately 55 mph the side air bags of both the front and rear of the vehicle deployed. The contact stated that he was not involved in any crash nor did he hit any debris. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they informed him of the repairs and that he would be responsible for the repair cost. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that an inspector would inspect the vehicle but did not say when. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
I own a 2007 chevy Tahoe. One morning while driving, I applied my brakes and changed lanes to avoid getting hit. My side curtain air bags deployed without any explaination. I called gm to report the incident, they sent an investigator who came out the very next day to inspect my vehicle. He took pictures of my vehicle and downloaded the sensor information. The gm manager told me that the air bags deployed as they should have in an event of a rollover. It was evident that the rollover never happened as there was no other damage to my vehicle. Gm denied any fault and denied my claim to get the air bags and my seat belts fixed. I contacted my insurance company, who also inspected my vehicle and replied that the car had a mechanical malfunction and that gm should be liable for my damages. Gm has closed my claim and will not talk to me any more. Gm has done nothing to correct this failure in my opinion. My vehicle is still under gm extended vehicle warranty and they are not willing to fix it under that claim either.
Dash board crack. The crack appears to have compromised the dashboard all the way to the passenger-side airbag and a much larger crack above the instrument panel. If something were to happen. . . I was in a wreck, and the airbag were to deploy. . . There's shards of dash going through the cab. I am the original owner on this 2007 Tahoe.
Serious and extensive cracking of the dashboard above the instrument cluster and at the passenger side air bag. The crack would cause dangerous caving of the entire dashboard area in the event of a crash and could interupt the efficient deployment of the airbag system.
In our 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe the dash is cracked just above the passenger side airbag which could cause serious injury in a crash. The interior wiring must be faulty, the passenger window sometimes won't roll down from drivers side, but sometimes it will. Also our battery mounts different than what is called for in automotive centers (top mount , not side) making it difficult to order proper battery for this vehicle.
Dash has cracked in two separate areas. One above the driver side instrument panel and one above the passenger side airbag. I called two different Chevrolet dealerships on two separate occasions, neither of which willing to correct or report to gm. Entire repair would be at owner expense. Dash has had very little sunlight exposure.
There are 2 cracks in the dash. One crack is 2" long, near the passenger side airbag. The other crack is 7" long, driver side, "hump" above the instrument cluster. I have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. It isn't. I am a member of a facebook group who has the exact same problem with their Tahoes and similar models. . I dont understand why gm will not fix the issue with cracks in the dash! it is u safe as one is located right at the passenger side airbag. What it I have an accident and this breaks and parts fly and hu6a passenger. This is not safe.
All side roof rail bags have been activated without any reason and accident .
The dashboard has two cracks one over the steering wheel and one over the passenger side air bag. I also have the light on and off saying (air bag service required) and the cruise control n has not been working neither for like 2 years all. It is a safety issue and concern when I travel with my family and this issue should be addressed immediately. Thank you eppi.
