Dashboard cracks at the corner of the passenger air bag!.

Hello, there is a crack in my dashboard of my 2008 chevy Tahoe that may very much affect the deployment of my airbag. I really and truly feel that if an accident should occur they air bag will not function properly. I just purchased from BMW in macon on 1/6/2016 and I have an expended warranty.

The dashboard has a cracked from the driver's side to the passenger side of the vehicle. The crack involves the passenger side airbag cover.

The dash board o the vehicle is cracking all around the takata recall airbags. The cracks are spidering across the dash, there are so may complaints with this dash board cracking and it is a safety issue if the airbags go off the dash board is likely to shatter and potentially be a projectile causing injury or death. This should be invesitigated and be a recall. You will find thousands of vehicle have this problem, gm is aware and its all over facebook and online. A crack has developed on the dashboard behind the instrument cluster. The dashboard was completely replaced under warranty by the dealer (bryan Chevrolet, metairie, la) in 2010. This is a widely common problem with all gm trucks and SUV in this "class". This is a defect and should be considered for recall due to possible injury due in the event of a crash.

Mutable cracks in dashboard. This is a well know issue with 07 to 11 gm's. There was no abuse or reason for the cracks. The cracks are causing sharp edges and points that are directly in front of the driver and passenger. As well as exposing internal equipment that could lead to failure including air bags.

I have the same problem with the cracked dashboard as hundreds of other people and the more serious concern is that my brakes go out when I am stopping sometimes causing my car to jolt forward and it sometimes does the same with the gas when I am starting to drive, where it will stall and jolt forward. The dealership has "fixed" the problem two or three times replacing first the hybrid battery and then the regular battery. Neither truly fix it. A couple of days ago, I came within inches of hitting another car because my brakes went out again. I know it has something to do with being a hybrid because there are hundreds of others with the same vehicle who have had the same problem.

The driver side dash board is cracking.

The dashboard has a 6-8" crack, vehicle is garage kept & sunshades. No damage caused to vehicle to cause the crack.

I have 3 cracks in my dashboard that have appeared over a course of approximately 2 years. I have 2 that are above my odometer and one that is coming from the passenger airbag area of the dash. Driving down the road it is making crackling noises as if it is slowly spreading.

April, 2015 I noticed small crack in right side of dash in front of passenger and larger crack in driver dash. May 2015 the cracks were significantly larger. The vehicle lives in a garage in florida when not being driven. It is not primary vehicle driven. Dash pad was replaced by palm Chevrolet in ocala, florida on June 2, 2015. The cost was $721. 41. .

Dashboard is cracking around the airbag and on top of the odometer/ speed and is a safety issue if passenger side airbag goes off. Potential for it to shoot plastic shrapnel into cabin and it's occupants. I have children and I feel unsecured riding my truck.

Have two area on my,dash board where. Cracks are located, running from the steering to the passage side. Never use any cleaning products, just a damp towel.

I have done everything in my power, knowledge and experience to address the issue of my cracked dashboard/pad. I have reached out to dozens upon dozens of other Tahoe/yukon owners who have experienced the exact same issue and have reached out to gm for further assistance to only have been turned away.

So I take very good care of my truck its garage kept always have sun visor on when in the sun but that didn't matter. I first noticed a small crack above the instrument panel maybe a inch and with a month it's cracked all the way up almost around to the front. This is not he fault of the consumer. There are thousands and thousands on facebook, on the news and all social media. Gm needs to get this recalled immediately.

Dash has cracked in multiple places. First crack is on right side of dash, top left of the air bag panel. Second crack is on left side of dash over the instrument panel. Most people don't think about a cracked dash being dangerous. However, if the airbags are deployed, fragments could become projectiles that can harm passengers. Chevrolet/gm needs to make this right.

I previously filed a complaint regarding two cracks in my 2008 chevy Tahoe dashboard, which have now increased to three. This has now left the entire piece above the passenger airbad detached from the rest of the dashboard. Also, I now have inside components that have broken, fallen through the dashboard compartment and fallen on my feet as I am driving. The pieces are very sharp and are a distraction while driving and I am concerned for other pieces that may fall and impede my ability to operate the gas or brakes properly.

Cracking dashboard. This has happened over time and cannot be attributed to the speed, direction, or orientation of the vehicle. I feel this can be a safety issue inhibiting the safe deployment of the airbags.

There are numerous cracks in the dashboard around the airbag. I am worried if the air bag will prematurely deploy, or will not be able to deploy as designed with the cracks. My vehicle is a 2008 Tahoe ltz. There are countless people with the same issue, with the crack in the same place. I have no idea what is going on with the electrically system and what the cracks might be doing.

Takata recall dashboard cracking more and more. . . Falling into pieces. Worried it may affect airbags or prevent airbags to work properly.

The front dash board is cracked, it happened in 2014, there was a crack across from top to bottom on the driver side, I did not contacted the company because it was out of warranty already but just a few months ago another crack appeared in the passenger side across from where the air bags deploy, this got me concerned for safety reasons, I started reading more and found out that this is a common issue with most Chevrolet trucks/SUV's. Action needs to be taken from GMC to correct this issue and replace cracked dashboards.

There are very large cracks on my dash board, the worst one being around the airbag plastic cover on the passenger side of the dash! you can see under the cover showing all of the components under the dash! the crack that is on the drivers side is above the steering column running from the defroster to the top by the speedometer displays, etc! I feel as if these cracks, specifically the one on the passenger side, is a huge safety hazard! without crashing, there is no way of telling if the passenger side airbag will deflate properly due to this! I feel that to find this out, it should be at no ones expense! I have filed a complaint & a claim with gm a few months ago only to be told by the dealership that gm contacted on my behalf that the responsibility is mine if I wanted this problem to be fixed! the dealership informed me that it would cost $850 to $1000 to have the dash replaced! the dealership also said that they are very aware of this problem in the Tahoes because they have replaced some dashes! gm is not taking any responsibility for their faulty equipment & refuse to issue a recall! there are thousands of other customers who I know for a fact that are also facing the same problems with their trucks & suvs! please do the right thing & issue a recall on these faulty & cheap made dash boards! thank you!.

The dashboard has cracked for the 2nd time it was replaced a few years ago under warranty but has cracked again in 2 places. I have a 2008 Tahoe with 51000 miles. I have been in contact with gm trying to get this repaired at their experience. I have done some research and found many complaints about the dash cracking, a recall needs to be released to fix this issue.

Noticed two sizeable cracks in the dashboard, one of which is right near the airbag. I researched the issue and noticed there are several other Tahoe owners that are experiencing the same thing and that it is a defect in the dashboard. The cracks seem to be getting bigger and I'm concerned pieces of the dashboard will splinter creating flying projectiles if the airbag were to ever deploy.

A crack started to form on the dashboard above the upper left corner of the passenger airbag. The crack has spread and has caused pressure and strain on other parts of the dashboard leading to major cracks in the plastic all the way from the passenger airbag to the drivers side dash 'hump' above the steering wheel. This has been identified as a very common problem/defect with the chevy Tahoe model from 2007-2011. The cracks are a safety concern since they are starting from and are surrounding the airbags. Any deployment of the airbags are at risk of malfunction as well as possibly causing damage to passengers due to the cracked pieces potential of breaking off and being hurled at passengers upon impact/deployment. Gm should recall these models and fix the safety issue.

Dash has cracked to the point if the air bags came out it would be very harmful with all the plastic pieces flying everywhere! didn't get the recall notice. This needs to be fixed since it is the manufacturer using inferior materials.

Dash is cracked in three (3) locations. One location is near air bag and passenger air bag light will not engage. Dealership and gm directly have advised they will not repair. The airbag could deploy on its own, or could fail to deploy if needed, both of which are a safety issue. Dash cracks are large. Thousands of gm owners are experiencing this same issue. Electrical system has gone haywire. After three attempted repairs by a dealership, they finally replaced the negative battery cable. The vehicle would disable completely at random, requiring tows on too many occasions to recall. Electrical issues still remain. I am afraid that the vehicle will catch fire, as the electrical system appears to be engaged and operating when there is no power to the vehicle. Door handle on drivers side will not engage with automatic lock feature. Other doors lock and unlock, but drivers side will not. This is a serious safety issue, as the door has failed to open when needed in an emergency. The door handles have chrome covering coating. The coating is peeling off and is very shar, resulting in cuts to your hands. I have attempted to file down the coating, but have finally covered it with duct tape to avoid further cuts to my hands and my passengers hands. On a cosmetic note, the coating on the steering wheel is all peeling off. All of the issues I have reported are happening to thousands of gm owners and gm has failed to accept responsibility for these issues. I have also been overcharged by an authorized gm dealership for time expended on repairs to my vehicle.

We own two chevy Tahoe's and both of them (2008 & 2012) have cracking dashboards. I am concerned with the safety of the airbags. There are many complaints online regarding this issue and is a hazards to drivers and passengers.

Dashboard has cracked adjacent to corner of passenger side airbag panel and along top of driver side instrument cluster panel. Cracked dash continues to expand. The cracked dashboard is a safety concern in that shards of the plastic may break off during an accident and/or during deployment of the airbags, impaling the passengers. The sad part of this is that I had to replace all the exterior door handles also because they all broke off from the cheap plastic clip that holds the handle in place - no recall on that either. This is inexcusable when you look at the cost of the ltz vehicles. Both of these defects are safety issues - mishandling of aibags when deployed and someone able to enter your vehicle through a broken handle!!!!!!!.

I purchased my chevy Tahoe in July 2013. I was only the second owner. I did not notice right away but the dash board was cracked above the cluster. Since I purchased the card I have used a sun shade to protect the interior of the car. Since I purchased the car there has been another crack located at the passenger airbag. My main concern is if I were to get into an accident would the dash stay intact or would the cracked pieces then become similar to shrapnel? I have contacted gm customer service regarding this, all they did was set up an appointment with my local dealership and did not explain the problem. I was then contacted by the local dealership and after some time was told that there was nothing they could do for me other than paying for the repair out of pocket. They claimed it was due to the fact that I am not the original owner and my mileage is too high. However on numerous on-line forums there have been different stories and amounts people are being charge for replacing this item that is a known problem. This problem effects 2007 - 2013 Tahoe, silverado, yukon, denali, sierra and suburban.
