general problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe - part 1

I confirmed the vehicle has a recall. Called the dealer and they informed me that the dash may crack while performing the recall but is not included in the recall. Any cracks in the dash would be customer pay. This doesn't seem right.

Stability track issues trunk issues want open or go up tires keep having to replace for no reason at all airbag recall traction control.

I took my vehicle into sunset Chevrolet in sumner washington, in November of 2022 and had them complete the takata air bag recall on the vehicle. I drove it for a few months and put it in storage. Since the recall the dash is now cracked where the dealer replaced the passenger airbag recall. It was not cracked prior to the replacement. I have talked to the dealer and they are saying they will not cover this. This is a hazard issue and can cause additional shrapnel to come flying at you if the vehicle is involved in an accident. The vehicle was stored in the garage and not driven. The dealer won't even examine the vehicle to see if the bolts were inadvertently overtightened on the technicians side. This is not right and this is something that should be covered. The vehicle has about 88k miles on it. My dash was not cracked at the time of the repair and now it is. This is not right to put me at more risk than what I was at prior to the recall. I read that the takata airbag recall stated to repair the cracked dashes. Mine cracked after gm performed the recall. This is a hazard and is something that should be taken care of. I am disabled individual.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed the recall repair; however, while driving the vehicle a week later, the contact's wife noticed that the dashboard was shaking significantly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact's wife drove back to their residence, where the contact inspected the dashboard and noticed that it was severely cracked on the driver's side behind the steering wheel and on the passenger's side. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the dashboard replacement would be at his own expense as the manufacturer would not cover the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the dealer should have informed them that the dashboard would be cracked prior to the recall repair and after the failure; however, the manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,500.

Dashboard is cracked from the corner of the passenger airbag cover to the seam in the dash panel need the defroster. We were involved in a rear end accident and the crack appeared after the accident. I'm concerned it could affect the air bag deploying.

For over two years I have not received a recall for replacement of air bags. Gm recall number 2049151 said waiting for remedy from manufacturer, what the heck is taking so long long ?.

My dashboard has cracked above both the driver and passenger airbags. While looking to see if these cracks are repairable I learned that this is an issue with certain Tahoes (between certain years) and could be a safety issue concerning airbag deployment and was advised to report it here. (I don't think it pertains to my issue, but my vehicle was stationary at the time the cracks appeared).

I contacted a Chevrolet dealership to have my vehicle serviced as it relates to the recall for the airbags. I was told that the remedy is not available because there are no parts yet. If something were to happen and the airbags deploy, my passengers and I could be in very bad shape. This complaint is about the recall being issued; no way to service our vehicles. This is not acceptable! I need to have my vehicle serviced ASAP.

I took my vehicle to don ringler Chevrolet, temple, TX as soon as I received the recall notification, in 2016. I was told that they did not have the parts available , they would call me when they get the parts. I call them once a month and I went by last week and they are telling me the parts are still not in.

Nothing has happened, thankfully, but these vehicles have the takata airbags and we still aren't able to get them repaired. How long until there is action. Commercials tell us to get the repairs done, but we can't yet.

Nothing has happened but I don't want to get to that point. When is this takata airbag recall going to be resolved? it has been over 3 years since it was put out. I would like some answers. If I wait for an incident to occur, it will be too late. My wife sits at that passenger seat and we live in georgia where it is very hot and humid. All of these conditions suggests a high probability that an incident may occur. Please reach and assure your customers that a fix is in the works and not ghost the population that owns and operates these vehicles everyday. Thank you.

�service airbag� message appeared on my dashboard screen. Possibly connected to numerous cracks on passenger and driver side. Vehicle has approximately 90k miles. Cracks appeared when it had approximately 40k miles. Dealer said it was not covered at that time.

Dash cracked , could send pieces into face in a crash .

I have two cracks in the dashboard. One is on the passenger side right near the airbag and one in one the drivers side. I have read many complainants about this issue and it puzzles me why chevy would not do a recall. My 2011 is very well taken care of so it is not neglect on my part.

Takata recall, air bag service light now on. Recall open since 2016, need to know why its taking so long to complete recall. Wonder if my air bag srvice light activation is related to recall issues and if safe to drive? gm dalers offering no assitance in matter, only suggest a $135 diagnostice evaluation.

I bought my 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe about 4 years ago (used, but in great condition) - within a month my dash had cracked. Nothing that I did at all! my normal driving everyday keeps me with 20-30 miles maximum, on very well made roads (nothing extreme). I paid to get it fixed (the first time) and now 4 years later and it has cracked again. After the first time I paid to get it fixed, they actually didn't install the dash correctly and then said that it was my fault that it was messed up and demanded that I pay for it. I refused and said that I was done with it. It's a safety hazard because it's right above my airbags, and like I said, this is the second time in 4 years that my dashboard has cracked.

Dash around airbags and steering column is cracked. Noticed one about a year ago but it has grown much bigger and now a bigger crack is on the other side of the vehicle (noticed today). Concerned if in accident and the airbags deploy the cracked dash will splinter into flying plastic shards. Online research indicates this is a recurring problem with this generation of chevy Tahoe. Takata air bag recall, our car is on their list but they are not releasing the money to replace the air bag at this time, despite the danger it poses my family.

I just bought my used 2011 chevy Tahoe. After I drove it home I noticed that the dashboard under the windshield keeps jumping bad due to 2 cracks. My concern is that it may cause the airbag to deploy. The dearship says I bought it as-is and I feel it is a safety issue that should have been repaired before sale.

The dashboard has developed a crack next to the passenger airbag cover. This is a widespread manufacturer's defect for this type of gm vehicle. However, gm refuses to instate a recall to address it's customer's concerns. With the plastic of the dashboard compromised, a deployment of the airbag could send fragments of plastic into the cabin.

I own a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. My dash began to crack completely from one end to the other. I called the dealer today, george Chevrolet in bellflower CA, and I spoke with the service manager jose. Of course my Tahoe is included in the takata recall and no parts for it are available yet. I did ask him about the recall and then I explained the problem with my dash. It is so badly cracked now it seems to me that the airbags are not secure at all as the cracks have made the entire dash loose. I was told there was no recall and I am no longer under warranty so nothing could be done. I am the original owner of the Tahoe and have taken excellent care of the vehicle since I purchased it in 2011. It seems to me that there are many complaints about this issue so I hope someone will review and consider a recall. The cracking began at about 22k miles. I received a notice today stating that the airbags on my 2011 chevy Tahoe are defective and need to be replaced. I understand replacement of the defective bags would be at no cost to me.
