Carrier/rack problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe

I am writing to you asking for assistance in replacement of my dashboard . I use the October date as we have noticed the cracks over the last couple months. One of the cracks is directly above where the passenger airbag is. I have discovered that there are 10000 members on a cracked dashboard site on facebook. I do not understand why gm does not stand behind this. I am concerned if the airbag deploys and someone is in the passenger seat they can be impaileded with hard pieces of plastic. I love my 2014 Tahoe ltz and has planned on trading it in on a new Tahoe or suburban. I am concerned that this will impact my resale value of the vehicle and im of the understanding that general motors will not stand behind this and fix it. I am working with my dealer but having the same problem. I cannot really determine whether the vehicle was stationary in motion etc. I just believe that the cracking has happened over time. I use a sun visor for the most part and live in northern virginia so it we do not have extreme heat for the most part.

Yesterday while driving home, my dashboard exploded open. I guess this is a common problem with these cars which should be a serious problem to the manufacturer. After safely pulling over I was able to see that I now have a large crack in my dashboard. Parts shot out of the dash and could have hit me while driving. Please investigate!.

My 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe has a 2 inch crack in the dashboard on the passenger side tthat starts at the top left corner of the rectangular "cut out" to the edge of that piece of the dashboard. I am concerned that the effectiveness of the air bag if the car is impacted and do not trust gm's analysis of this question. From what I am reading on the internet, this problem is happening all too often and needs to be fixed by gm. This problem could absolutely be a serious, life threatening issue in case of an accident.

While I was washing my 2014 Tahoe ltz I noticed my front dash board was cracked in 2 places. Now when I drive it shakes and I am afraid that if the air bags deploy I could get the shattered pieces thrown back into me and my families face.

The dash board is cracking in several different places.

The dashboard has a large crack on the driver's side.

Dash cracked/broken over steering. Stationary. Obviously inferior/defective material used.

The dashboard in my vehicle like many other peoples dashboard has cracked completely. I was told that this a huge problem with all 2014 chevy Tahoe�s. I believe gm should fix this problem for me and all the others affected. This will cost me a substantial amount of money to be fixed and nothing was done other than me driving and parking my car. I read this could affect my airbags as well.

My dash has cracked in two areas; by the instrument panel and by the air bag on the passenger side. I now have a constant chirping noise when driving.

Cracking dash board. My car was bought brand new and my first crack occurred at 3 years old to the left corner of my airbag. Second crack just recently occurred near drivers side. Chevrolet and my dealership are not helping me to replace my dash. My car is not that old and outside of warranty. When driving down highway it starts to crack more and raddle and shake . I am afraid that the dash or steering column is going to come off if there were to be an accident. I have called gm and they have no regards or concerns for my safety and told me its my problem.

Takata recall my dashboard is cracking on my 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz. I have contacted gm and my dealer that I bought the car from. Gm is doing nothing on the part of help pay for it. The dealer is giving a discount. But I shouldn't have to pay for this malfunction. I have done research and this is common with Chevrolet Tahoe's. I want to be compensated for this issue . Dash cracks near air bag and above steering wheel. I have read about numerous other vehicles with similar defects.

Defective cracked dashboard. The crack continues to extend and in case of an accident, it could potentially puncture the air bag, greatly compromising safety. Additionally, the brittle dashboard could become sharp flying pieces in case of an accident. I contacted gm/Chevrolet in may 2018 to report the crack and was given a quote for almost $2000. 00 to replace the dashboard. Plenty of data shows that the defect of gm dashboards cracking is widespread, however, gm fails to acknowledge their fault and recall affected vehicles. I am contacting you as a concerned owner and law enforcement officer concerned for my safety and that of my family. I have done everything to get the problem fixed by gm or the gm dealership that sold me the vehicle. However, they all have turn a blind eye to the issue. I hope this message does not fall in deaf ears and you can assist me in solving this hazardous situation I am in due to gm lack of concern for safety.

I own a 2014 Tahoe with only 34000 miles, a vehicle I'm still paying for. A few weeks ago, the dashboard cracked for no reason. I looked online and found out thousands of gm vehicles are affected by this same exact issue. The crack not only affects the value of the vehicle but also the safety of the passengers as it may puncture the airbag during deployment or sharp pieces of the dashboard can fly out as the dashboard is so brittle. As a government law enforcement officer I find it disturbing that the NHTSA has turned a blind eye to this problem. It is obvious a defect affecting thousands of vehicles and ignoring, putting hundres of lives at risk to save gm's bottom line, is unacceptable. I have exhausted countless hours dealing with gm's customer services reps and they all work out of a unified script and refuse to acknowledge the problem and replace the part. Now I find myself driving a time bomb with my family in it. I am begging your agency to look into this issue again and to not look the other way. I risk my life for this country every day to protect you and your families and I expect you to do the same for me and mine.

My dashboard has a 2" crack starting from the top of the airbag and running up to the heat exchange vent. The vehicle was being driven and I heard a popping/cracking sound and after I returned from my trip I noticed the small crack in the dash. The crack continues to grow and now has spread along the heat exchange. Chevrolet said I would have to replace the entire dash at my expense. The vehicle is in excellent condition and because such care has been provided it should be warrantied by Chevrolet.

My 2014 Tahoe dash is cracked between the passenger airbag and the windshield vent. I is just hard plastic. I have a sunroof and keep it open during the hot months and the windows are cracked to allow the hot air to escape. I also keep huge sun shades in the windshield. I tried to have it repaired. All she could do was try to mend the crack but didn't have any luck in filling the gap. She said she sees a lot of these and believes it is due to a design flaw. I believe it too. My dash still move up and down when driving. This should be a recall and repaired or replaced at gm's expense. I have asked my local chevy dealership how much for them to install a new one. It would be $ 1,500. 00. I need someone who knows what to do because it involves the airbag. I am a devoted chevy owner and have spent way too much money to have something like cheap plastic as a dashboard.

There is a dashboard crack near the passenger side dashboard airbag cover. This is a known issue with this year and model vehicle.

Dashboard cracked by air bag and now cracked by steering wheel.

Driving down the road, my dashboard cracked on the corner of the passenger side air bag. The dashboard was not struck in anyway or the car did not hit a bump. I'm afraid of the crack being there because it is so close to the airbag housing.

Several large cracks appearing in the dashboard above the steering wheel and along the speakers in the dashboard.

On Jan. 15th, 2017 my 2014 chevy Tahoe got a crack on dash board located on passenger side by air bag. Other issue is the driver side outside door handle is also breaking off. Took my vehicle to chuck nash chevy in san marcos, TX on 1-25-17 & service advisor mentioned these are way to common issues with these vehicles and chevy motors is fully aware of the issues. Service advisor mentioned the newer vehicles should not have these issues anymore. However, I am expected to pay out of pocket as my warranty out.

My Tahoe has two major cracks abode the instrument cluster and by the passenger side airbag and gm refuses to admit that they have a ongoing and serious issue that if the airbag was to deploy would be a safety issue.

The dash surrounding the passenger side air bag has developed multiple cracks. This creates concern with the integrity of the plastic if the airbag were to deploy. This vehicle is garage kept and only used on the weekends due to the use of another vehicle for work.

The dashboard is cracked in three places within two weeks of each other. I was driving 35 mph when I hit a bump in the road that caused the first crack to occur in the center. Then the other two happened just with no other pressure or driving hazards.

The dash has cracked and was told by my county officer that if I was in an accident my airbags may not deploy. Also I have been unable to put gas in my SUV due to it taking 27 minutes because it clicks off.

I recently purchased a 2014 chevy Tahoe with right at 40,000 miles on the vehicle. Shortly after I noticed the dash had cracked on the driver side by the top air vent. The crack has gotten even bigger in the following weeks. I also have a 2007 chevy silverado and the dash is cracked on it as well. I know several people who have had this same issue with poor quality gm parts. My Tahoe is an ltz and expect quality when buying such. I called the dealership I bought the Tahoe from and was informed they do not fix these unless I want to pay for it all out of my pocket. This is a gm quality issue that should be recalled and repaired by gm not the consumer.

Vehicle was purchased new and has cracking on dashboard near airbag. Both front doors have lost all plastic in the door handle making it nearly impossible to grip door to close the doors, no form left to door handle. Both door and dash have been this way for 2 years and out of warranty so no one will fix the issues!.
