I have a 2015 Tahoe that looses break pressure at idle rpm in drive, once you raise the rpms the brake pressure will come back. We have almost hit multiple vehicles when trying to stop in a parking spot or in line at drive thru�s. The problem is the brake vacuum pump is failing and I will be purchasing a new one and replacing it, I have been quoted upwards of $1000 for parts and labor for this faulty part.

My brakes failed in heavy highway traffic when trying to merge over. The vehicle was stopped then coasting and brakes would not work. Got towed to dealer for gm recall n192268490. Recall was performed. Brakes failed 45 miles later when slowly backing into driveway. The faulty program that has been recalled is known to damage the vacuum pump yet Chevrolet has only recalled the program and not the vacuum pump. I filed a case with Chevrolet Monday 10/14/19 and was told I would receive a call in 1 to 2 business days. I have not received a call back. I spoke with someone today who said the senior service advisor is scheduled to call me at 9pm Friday 9/18/19. My grandson and I waited over 3 hours for our onstar tow and he is absolutely devastated by the fear he experienced.
Brake pump failed and needed to be replaced. Gm knows of this problem and should do something about it before lives are lost, people are injured or property is damaged (from this point forward).

The contact bought the pump and installed it themselves. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000. The VIN was unknown.
I initially noticed difficulty with braking while backing out of a parking space at a very low rate of speed. The brake pedal became hard and the vehicle continued to roll backward, with full weight on the brake pedal. Approximately one month later I was in bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic and the brake pedal again hard and the vehicle continued to roll forward. This issue did not occur during normal driving conditions, only at low rates of speed and with frequent, repetive stopping. I took the vehicle to a local Chevrolet service department and they were unable to replicate the issue or identify the problem with diagnostic equipment. I was told by the service manager the problem was likely due to �over use� of the brakes and the brake is designed to be �pumped� rather than compressed for more than a few seconds. I took the vehehicle to a second Chevrolet dealership. The service department replaced the brake booster vacuum pump and this seems have resolved the issue. I was unable to drive my vehicle for approximately 2 months due to fear the brakes would fail. The vehicle has 54,000 miles and was purchased new from a dealership.

I have 77k miles in my chevy Tahoe. Recently, my brakes failed almost causing an accident. My brake pedal became very hard and I was unable to make a sudden stop. If there was another car in front of me it could of been serious resulting in major injuries. My vehicle continued to roll forward approx 20 feet before coming to a complete stop. When I contacted our local gm dealer I was advised to not drive the vehicle and get it towed. I've researched that many of this year and models have experienced the same defect with the brakes. Calling it the faulty vacuum pumps. What is even more frustrating is in September of 2018 I felt vibration in my brakes and the tech recommended to reolace my front brakes which I did. My vehicle is now getting repaired but in the meantime there are millions of the models out on the same roads your family and friends drive on, totally unsafe. Gm needs to recall and make this right for all of us.
The brake pedal becomes almost impossible to depress at low speeds causing the vehicle to roll without the ability to stop. Seems like the brake booster is failing to apply pressure to the brake system. Have read several complaints on this so I wanted to document one more case to push gm for a recall. My family almost had a bad crash the other day due to this and now it happens all the time. Abs is not activating to cause this, it is more a lack of boost in the brake system. We only have 40,000 miles on our truck.

I suspected an issue with the vacuum pump and had the vehicle towed to dimmitt Chevrolet in clearwater, FL the following morning. Dimmitt "verified concern. Performed diag. Found engine vacuum pump is weak and not pulling enough vacuum at times. " dimmitt "removed and replaced vacuum pump. ".

I was driving in traffic going about 5mph and when I applied my brakes they were not working 100% I had to push the pedal to the floor and the truck kept rolling. I had to had to figure out a way to safely move to the shoulder of the freeway to avoid accidents. I waited on the shoulder of the freeway for about a hour for traffic to stop. I was finally able to get off the freeway so I could check the brake fluid it was full. I knew there wasn't a problem with the brakes because they had just been replaced the prior month. I knew the vehilce was not safe to drive home so I left the truck at davis Chevrolet at their night drop. I talked to a service technician and he informed me that he has seen this issue a lot with 2015 Tahoe's, and infact 3 2015 Tahoe's were brought in the same day November 3,2017. Before looking at my vehicle the technician told me it was the vacume pump but he would call me back to let me know for certain. Once they looked at my truck he said it was the vacuum pump that needed to be replaced and it was not under warranty. I don't understand how gm knows about this issue and still does not recall it, this can cause major accidents and potentially cause a life. It's obvious there is a issue with tje vacuume pumps in tje 2015 Tahoe's and gm needs to take responsibility and do a recall before someone dies because their brakes fail due to a vacuum pump not working.
