general problems of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe seems to be known for thermostat failure. My thermostat gauge while driving would drop from 210 to 160 and stay pinned on 160 and the fans would turn on. I was told by an auto body shop that it seemed to be electric issues. I also had a wire under the car catch fire and the auto body shop said that is why my standing lights would not work in the rear but my brake lights would work. It’s very dangerous that the electrical failure caused a fire to start under the car. Then, I ran into another issue just this week where the vehicle has a cracked ac condenser and is slowly losing coolant. It’s a manufacturing issue because all of them seem to crack and we’re not made with a proper seal. Another electrical issue I have is when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right, even when the key is in and engine is on, the engine will shut off. The car completely shuts off and then I have to turn the key to the off position and then it will turn right back on. The steering wheel is also losing power steering and gets very tight when I have to make a turn. The fuses for my radio are blown and when you put new ones in, it blows immediately and doesn’t turn on. I have many issues with this vehicle and it’s obviously a manufacturer issue. This is not ok for a vehicle to all around have such horrible electrical issues. I have had issues driving over a pothole and I lose my radio screen or my whole dash screen and then the dealer and auto body shops say the electrical work is too in depth for them.

I have not had a wreck but the fact that when you press the brake pedal the dome lights blink and when you turn on the left turn signal, the dome lights blink. If you hold down the brake like if you’re at a traffic light the dome lights blink continuously until you let off the brake. Now, during the day, that’s no big problem but at night it poses a serious safety risk. A bright light in your eyes while driving is blinding and a sudden bright light in the pitch black dark could lead to an accident. I called the dealer to ask about it and was told yeah, they knew about it and it would cost me like $550 to repair even though it was a defect that they readily acknowledge.

On several occasions at various speeds, both driving straight and turning, my 2015 chevy Tahoe has turned off. During higher speeds the SUV will turn back on, instantly, by itself but during lower speeds and turning the car has to be manual turned back on by switching into neutral, pressing the break, and pushing the start button. The most recent time this has happened, it was dark outside and I was turning. I lost everything including my head and tail lights so it was hard for oncoming traffic to see me. I also almost hit someone coming in the other lane because I was unable to fully turn due to the loss of power steering. After this happens, I get many warning/action required messages across the dashboard but no check engine light or code have come up. I will be taking it to the dealer but since it does not happen every time the care is driven, I can only hope they can experience what happens.

Dome lights keep flickering. Not specific to any light. All of them flash sporadically. Looks like a camera flash at night. It is beyond distracting at night and the dealership could not find what is causing it to happen. It is making driving at night dangerous because it is distracting because it can sometimes flash non stop like a strobe light.

Braking systems not working properly. The vehicle failed to stop when applying the brake pedal. All brake pads are good; brake calipers are new; brake fluid is at max. I replaced everything I found online, but the issue is there on the vehicle. Dome light issue: the interior dome lights on the vehicle flashes constantly while driving.

The electrical software isn't functioning properly. The radio, onstar, the door/seat belt chimes don't work. None of the electrical works in the vehicle. I was driving and when I pressed on the brake and turning, the dome lights start to flicker making it difficult to see other cars at night. The back doors don't always lock when locking them.

My Tahoe showed stabilitrak issues when I first bought it a year ago. I received a recall notice and took it into the nearest dealer. It was ok for awhile but the same problem started again a month ago. The truck turns on and off for about 1 second as I'm pulling into a parking space. However, now I've had issues when I try to lock it with the fob; it does nothing. I have been stranded at a business because it won't turn back on and I have to wait awhile and try to crank it. It comes back on but this has happened to me more than 3 times. Now, I was driving to work and as I pulled into my work garage, everything turned off completely and this time nothing came back on. I had to quickly turn the ignition key to the off position, thankfully I had my foot on the brake and I had to turn it back on again. I was worried because this is in the downtown area and this is a very busy city street in the morning hours. I was lucky it turned back on at all. Another time, I could not start my truck when I got off of work and I was stuck on the 3rd floor of my parking garage. I am concerned that I'll be driving and all of a sudden this Tahoe will shut off while I'm in traffic. I have to travel 3 freeways to get to work and back home during heavy traffic, I'm worried about my safety and others as well because since this is an issue where the truck turns off completely, I will have no control on getting hit or hitting someone else at a high rate of speed (65 mph).

Flickering hurts eyes, in addition causing headaches and potential for seizures. Flickering occurs when the vehicle is in motion and when the breaks are used and/or the left blinker is turned on. First off, my dome lights. They flicker on and off every time I hit my breaks or every time I turn my left blinker on. Secondly, my air conditioner! I live in a very hot and humid state. I have already fixed the a/c in my Tahoe once at the beginning of the summer. Now I am having the exact same issue as I was then.

Every time I press the brake or use my directional all the interior lights flash. Its extremely distracting when I drive at night. I did't know I could report this here. I spoke with my dealer last year and he told me it would be very involved to fix since my warranty was up. He said if it doesnt bother you that much it would be better to leave it. :(.

Was parking and the service brake turn hard as a rock. So at a slow speed drive around the lot to found the service brake with no warning would just stop working. Like the brake booster lost vacuum and needed time to build back up. Had towed to dealer. Mileage 37,500 give or take 100 miles at no time did any warning lights come on . Same thing happed at the dealer then tech and service writer drove it . Also right side drl seems to fail in every one I see.

At slow speeds car dies shutting off all electric power and locking us in the car. Steering wheel jerks and car dies. Backed out into highway at night two nights ago and car died in middle of road with no lights. There was enough of a hill to let the car roll off of highway or my family could have died. Car has around 60k miles on it. Have read other issues similar to this. No evidence on computer when we take it to dealer. We have had this issue happen at least five separate occasions. The last one was the worst and most dangerous.

The dome lights in second row flicker every time I press on the brakes. The dome lights also flicker occasionally when I put on the blinkers. I have complained to the dealer several times and they want to charge a high price or they act as if it is a small issue. Dealer is sports chevy in silver spring, MD. This has been going on for over a year.

Second inquiry on this problem, a detailed description was sent previously and no response was ever received. 2015 chevy Tahoe in short, interior led lights flash when ever the brake is applied. Interior led lights flash when left turn signal is activated. Dealer stated that a service bulletin was created for this issue as an obvious safety issue at night. Electrical tape over the second seat led's dealer wanted at the time $180. 00 to remedy the problem. (documented) dealer on next recall visit, customer service stated that they were unaware of such an issue, and also that this was the first that he had heard of it. Internet is well aware of the electrical issue.
