Vehicle has a rough idle and trying to die while in gear drive or reverse it is more noticeable and worse when vehicle is stopped in gear.
I put our Tahoe into park and went into a convenience store. Unfortunately, when I came back my Tahoe was gone. It had rolled down and out of the parking lot into an electric pole guide wire. But, after much research, video replay and trying to duplicate the problem, I think I might understand happened. You can actually put the gear shift lever in a position where it thinks its in park, without the transmission being in park. The indicator says its in park, and the doors unlock, thinking its in park, but the transmission isn't actually locked in park because the lever is in an up position and not back. If you hit the power button with the lever in this up position, and get out of the vehicle without looking at the display saying the "shift to park", the car can roll because its actually in reverse. For me no display should say its in park if its not.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while pressing the brake pedal the vehicle would not immediately stop and the stopping distance was extended. The contact indicated that on occasions the brake pedal would be stiff and hard when pressed and on occasions the pedal would extend to the floor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and serviced under the NHTSA recall campaign number 19v761000(brakes) but the failure continued to occur. The contact also indicated that the transmission was faulty and after taking the vehicle to the dealer no trouble was found. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 26,000.
Vehicle stutters and loses power and lunges after coming to a complete stop and taking off ususally between 2nd and 3rd gear and 3rd and 4th gear. Has been idling rough as if it is missing or out of time. Veh has had a power surge and accelerated independently. Has down shifted from 4th to 2nd while travelling up hill and veh slowed and would not shift again. Veh has to be turned off and restarted.
Tahoe has been in the shop 9 times in one year, "service 4wd", "slow to 3mph to shift to 4wd low" and "service stabilink". Vehicle has tried to pull to the right while driving at highway speed, almost causing loss of control. GMC has replace several shorts in electrical system ( while never finding cause).
On 3 separate occasions, the 2016 Tahoe I am driving has jumped from drive to neutral while driving down the road at speeds between 45-60 mph. On one occasion, I was fortunate to avoid a major accident while merging on the interstate. I have since turned the vehicle in. Gm dealerships in baton rouge, la refuse to fix the vehicle. I have seen quite a few complaints on this same issue and hope that gm steps up to the plate before someone dies. Owners around the world need to be notified because somewhere someone may have already lost their lives in an accident and did not live to tell about why the accident occurred. The family should be getting retribution from gm. Very sad. My last gm vehicle.
While driving on highway , when needing to accelerate to pass vehicle using medium to medium heavy acceleration, instead of transmission kicking down to passing gear, it hangs up into neutral and engine revs up to and pass redline before I was able to release accelerator pedal. After letting off accelerator when the engine winds down to around 3500 revs it severely engages into gear with a loud bang and jolts the entire vehicle. This has happened 3 times and is going in to dealership in 4 days. Vehicle has 4473 miles on it. Vehicle also has several other severe electrical issues but after exhaustive procedure to have gm replace or buy back vehicle they have refused. This is my fourth Tahoe and will be my last. A loyal Tahoe owner for a long time and the new one is the worse. Terrible customer service for a vehicle of over $77,000 and less than 5000 miles on it.
