The "service stability" warning message displayed, abs warning light, tc tire deflation, and brake failure light. The first failure occurred on or about February 13, 2012. I took the vehicle to the Chevrolet dealership immediately and the repair was completed by March 27, 2012 after 3 attempts. The computer tester was alleged to show that the ebcm had failed and was replaced. This did not clear the defect and the same warnings continued when ever the car was washed or became wet from rain. The defect was said to be in the wire that powered the ebcm in the proximity of the firewall. The wire was stated to be frayed. When the wire was replaced the problem was corrected. I am concerned that the wire may have been damaged from abrasion near the firewall combined with corrosion from road salt. This could have lead to failure of the abs, airbags, and stability control at a time when it is most needed.

On a number of occasions when stopping the vehicle at a low-speed, typically pulling up to a stop sign, a vibration can be felt in the brake and the vehicle does not slow down. Under additional pressure, the brake pedal then slips down a bit and the brakes then engage. I have not taken the vehicle back to the dealership yet as the problem occurs infrequently. So far, other than an extended stopping distance, there are not been any adverse consequences. The most recent incident 07-may-2005.

Driving on 93s in somerville MA in am rush hour traffic. The van in front of me stopped and I applied my brakes, they never worked. I was travelling approx. 10-12 mph and never stopped, therefore crashing into the van in front of me and pushing him into another car.
I have a 2000 chevy tohoe which has massive corrosion on the anti lock brake system. We bought and used this vehicle for couple years in minnesota. We now reside in texas. We have been told this problem is not covered and is common with vehicles from up north. We find this hard to believe. The vehicle is only 5 years old.

I have a chevy Tahoe 2000 new and my car has a very difficult time stopping at slow speeds. I have been having this problem for about a year now and have brought the car into a GMC service station numerous times. Each time they have just charged me for breaks and not fixed the problem.
I own a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe which I purchased from a private party about two years ago. The mileage at the time of purchase was in the mid 20,000, and is now just under 35,000. Having driven just 15,00 miles during the past two years makes it evident this vehicle has not been abused. I have recently experienced frequent problems with the anti lock brake system which often is activated for no apparent reason, resulting in a expensive brake job way before that type of repair would normally be anticipated. My mechanic has seen this same problem in several other general motors vehicles, and is convinced the problem is related to the wheel speed sensors. He is also of the opinion that general motors has known of this problem for some time, yet has failed to issue a recall which would correct the problem without cost to the owner. Why hasn't this been addressed, and are there any plans to do so? thank you.

Antilock brakes activate at under 10 mph on clear road. This is on a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe.
A loud air blower sound could/can be heard from the car. Took the car to two mechanics who both told me the abs system had failed and needed to be turned off in order to not drain the battery. The only corrective action is to purchase $1,200 part + labor from the same manufacturer with no guaruntee the part will work. Was told by mechanics they see the abs failures in chevy products daily. In November I was in an accident because abs system had been disengaged due to failure. I do not feel safe driving this car and will sell as soon as possible.
Brake system failure.
A leak in the vaccuum booster caused the brakes to fail which resulted in a collision.

The brakes are improperly designed and do not operate correctly. Brake pedal too high; pedal depresses too far before engaging; brakes lock up irratically. No manufacturer explanation.
Driving on freeway, brakes faild and rear ended truck at 55mph causing a chain reaction.
Under normal driving conditions (not snow and ice), I have experienced numerous brake failures. On one occasion, for example, in April I was driving at approx 40 mph on a suburban road (no ice or snow) when the traffic light ahead changed from green to red. There was one vehicle in front of me. I applied the brakes as usual, and the abs brakes engaged. The truck shuddered and shook as I was accustomed to feeling when the abs engage in snow and ice. But there was no stopping the vehicle. I was forced to swerve off the raod to avoid hitting the car in front of me. This failure has occurred many times, but the dealer has been unable to reproduce the failure. Other chevy service departments have not found the problem. I called gm and was given a "file number": 980 496 553. But gm told me that they have had no other reports of faulty abs and they insisted the dealer is the party responsible for fixing the truck. My truck has spent many many weeks in various dealerships, to no avail. Now I understand that the ntsb has documented thousands of such failures in gm vehicles. But apparently not on 1997 models, only 1992-96 models. Let me inform you that the 1997 model chevy Tahoe has the exact same problem as the vehicles that were mentioned in news reports last week, reports that 3. 5 million gm vehicles are being recalled to fix the problem. Can you advise me what I am supposed to do since gm has closed the door on my case and insists that there's nothing to be done with my brand new truck. By the way, this problem surfaced within the first month that I owned the truck and has occurred intermittently ever since. Furthermore, many other people who have driven the truck have reported the problem to me, so it's not a problem with my perception of how abs brakes are supposed to work, as gm insists. Please advise me of where I should go to get this matter solved.
