2 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 02/20/2023

Gm has a known problem with the sensors for the side detection system that are placed outside in the rear of the vehicle. Tires splash water and salt directly on the sensors causing them to short out. This short not only causes the side detection to misreport whether a vehicle is in your blind spot, it also manifests itself with lift gate malfunctions and various other messages displayed on the dic like service park assist system or service trailer brake. My Tahoe has had all these issues. To date gm has not recalled my Tahoe or any other gm vehicle with this problem. The dealership quoted me $1,700 for the fix and are having trouble sourcing the new sensors since apparently I am not the only one affected. Howabout your agency looking into this and suggesting to gm to man up on this and cover the repair through a recall and a reimbursement for those who paid out of pocket.

4 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 10/25/2020

I am writing to you asking for assistance in replacement of my dashboard . I use the October date as we have noticed the cracks over the last couple months. One of the cracks is directly above where the passenger airbag is. I have discovered that there are 10000 members on a cracked dashboard site on facebook. I do not understand why gm does not stand behind this. I am concerned if the airbag deploys and someone is in the passenger seat they can be impaileded with hard pieces of plastic. I love my 2014 Tahoe ltz and has planned on trading it in on a new Tahoe or suburban. I am concerned that this will impact my resale value of the vehicle and im of the understanding that general motors will not stand behind this and fix it. I am working with my dealer but having the same problem. I cannot really determine whether the vehicle was stationary in motion etc. I just believe that the cracking has happened over time. I use a sun visor for the most part and live in northern virginia so it we do not have extreme heat for the most part.
