The power window on the driver's side of the vehicle will stop working all of a sudden. It is not all of the time, but sometimes, when I have the window down, and I push the power switch to close or open the window it will not work. This could lead to a very serious problem, if for some reason I am unable to open the door and then the window will not go down. We live in michigan and you recently recalled vehicles because of a problem with the master power window switch causing fires in the driver's side door, which ended up melting and/or burning the door. There must be corrosion of the wiring in my vehicle that is causing the problem with my window. I know that your recall was not for the same year as my vehicle, but it sounds like the exact same problem and I don't want to end up having my car door catch on fire, especially if me or my family are in it, or if it is parked in our garage it could burn our entire house down. When we purchased this vehicle from the dealership it was brand new, and there have been no other owners.
The dash cracked on the passenger side above the airbag. After researching I found that this is a common problem with these vehicle.
Driver and passenger interior door handle chrome peeling, slices fingers.
For the past couple of weeks my Tahoe will crank start but only run for about 1 second then shuts off. After doing some internet research I have found that thousands other gm owners are having the same issue. This problem is very annoying and inconveniencing. Im sure its cost many people there jobs or at minimum gotten them in trouble for being either late or unable to come in to work. I am in the military and the my car wont start doesn't come off very well with my superiors. Something needs to be done about this.
The speedometer would not decrease speed, and but would register an increase, and consequently would not reflect actual speed. I could correct problem by repeatedly starting vehicle, until eventually it just would no longer register a change in speed at all. Now I have no idea what speed my vehicle is traveling.
I was on r&r leave from the middle east from 26 oct 2011 thru 09 Nov. On the 2nd of November I attempted to open my driver side door and the pealing chrome on the door handle slit through my middle finger. The pealing is razor sharp and left a one inch cut in the center of my finger. I had to place tape over the door handle to prevent being cut again. Who can I cantact about this hazard. I am active duty army and I am out of the country quite a bit so if there is a recall on this I need to know. I am the first and only owner of my Tahoe.
I can be going down the highway running 65-70 mph and the reduced engine power light will come on and reduces my speed to 10 mph! I pull over, disconnect the battery cable and replace it, then I could continue for another week or so. Finally, I left the diagonstic computer in my truck and was able to capture the code p1125. The mechanic said to replace the throttle body. That was done in October. It ran fine for a while, but it started doing it again. The throttle body was replaced again! now, two months later, it's doing it again! no one can seem to fix the problem. Meanwhile, I am a female who travels the highways everyday going back and forth to work and I have been in several dangerous situations due to this problem that will not stop! as of now, I can not drive my truck and having to rely on carpooling again until it's fixed for the third time in the past 6 months. It also appears that several people are having the same problem with no results. Someone is going to get killed if this is not addressed soon!.
I have a 2006 chevy Tahoe z56. When I went to check the condition of the plugs and wires, I noticed there is an exhaust leak around the # 1 & # 8 manifold areas - as evident by the blackish coloring on right under the valve cover in these two areas. After further review, it was evident that the # 8 bolt had already broken off (detached head), and the #1 bolt was spinning/stripped, just ready to fall off. I am reporting this since it apparently is a common problem on these vehicles and needs to be recalled. ***** as I stated, this is a 2006 Tahoe with only 59,082 miles on it. This is a manufacturers defect that needs to be addressed. *******.
Support bracket weld to transmission dipstick tube broke. Dipstick tube loose and only held in place at transmission. Caught at a gm lube location in charleston, wv during routine lube and oil change. They stated they have seen at least 6 of these breaks in late model gm suvs. In worst case tube could pop out of transmission and leaking transmission oil could hit exhaust and cause a fire. My fix is a small hose clamp around the bracket and tube to hold it in place.
Door handles keep breaking off.
There are several cracks in the dashboard of my 2008 chevy Tahoe. There are two separate pieces to the dash= the first: "panel assembly, upper trim" has severe cracks on the driver's side and passenger side. The second: "panel assembly, instrument" has a small crack that is touching the passenger air bag panel & there is a crack leading up to the steering wheel. I am very nervous about these cracks because if a wreck happens then I fear this dashboard would just break appart and somehow interfere with the deployment of the air bags. I have searched this complaint online and I am not alone with this problem. I have read where gm will replace dash for a cost or sometimes for free. I have contacted them and hope to have an answer soon. I think this should be a "recall" for these types of vehicles.
Hinge on rear liftgate window separated from the window and prevented window from latching. (the hinge failure cocked the window and made it crooked on the liftgate. ) this window has only been opened maybe 2 - 3 dozen times total in 7 years. If I hadn't been focused, I might have driven off and window might have blown off the vehicle as most of my driving is on highways. If someone else had been driving it and not noticed the imperfect way the window closed (which would be probable), the window most assuredly would have blown off due to wind turbulence.
2004 Chevrolet Tahoe "reduced engine power". Occurs intermittently and only allows you to go about 25 mph. Very unsafe if on a highway. Gm dealer replaced the faulty wire harness and plug that plugs into the throttle body. Also replaced throttle body itself.
This morning after a heavy rain last nnight, while taking the kids to school, I heard a water sloshing sound coming from the rear passenger side door. Got home and investigated the door- it was literally filled inside with water. Upon further investigation, I found that all doors had water in them! scary! I had to leave all 4 doors open for approx 20 min for water to stop draining out! my saftey concern here is if these doors are filled (and I'm not exaggerating when I say filled) with water, there must be a risk of electrical shock from the different electrical components inside the doors for windows and/or the power locks.
My husband and I purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe 8-16-11. I cut my left middle finger on the chrome driver side interior handle 8-17-11. After further investigation, we discovered all the handles on the vehicle are peeling and very sharp. We have a small child & I am very concerned that he also start cutting his hands when opening/closing the doors. I feel as though we spent too much money on the vehicle for the handles to be slicing our fingers open.
Chevy Tahoe 2007 ltz exterior left rear chrome door handle partially detached. Still functional, but loose and will require repair not covered under warranty. Have read that this defect is not uncommon and is completely unacceptable for a $50k car.
Chrome peeling off of driver interior door handle sliced finger of driver while actuating the door handle to exit the vehicle. Minor injury treated with out-patient care. Upon detailed inspection, both interior front door handles exhibit same characteristic of sharp, peeling chrome on the top of the handle. Chevrolet dealer advised that Chevrolet was aware of issue but offered no remedy to the cause.
Dashboard has spontaneously started to crack in several spots. Sharp edges may cause injury in the event of a crash.
I got on hwy 26 at the white rock ballentine exit. I was traveling on 26 when I saw a maurice barbaque truck come onto the highway so I moved over one lane. As the truck was coming onto the highway, at an extremely fast speed, at the lake murray entrance I saw something fly out of his truck. It had to have flown out his window and it hit my windshield and made a crack in it. I immediatly tried to honk my horn to get him to pull over. He gave me the finger. So I slowed down went behind him took his plate number down and called maurice's bbq number right away. I unfortunatly didnt have time to follow him because I was in the middle of taking my kids to an emergancy doctors appointment. I felt I took all the right steps to make sure I reported this properly. I continued to call maurices 3 times a day and left messages and no one responded finally 3 days later a woman called me and told me she sent it to the insurance but they werent gonna pay for it. The insurance company called me and said the driver said he didnt do anything wrong and because you didnt follow him we wont pay for it. This is so unfair to me as I didnt even get a chance to state my case. . . I am appauled and discusted by how maurices bbq handled the situation . . . Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
The chrome plated driver side door handle is peeling. When the plating starts to peel the chrome is very sharpe and cuts like a razor. I have cut my fingers three seperate times. The dealership wants approx. $100 to replace the chrome plating. In other words, to replace a sticker. This is completely unacceptable and very hazardous.
The inside chrome door handle on our 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe is peeling and causing injury to those getting out of the car. Currently, the affected handle is isolated to the driver's side door.
Heavy oil consumption. The car says oil is low about every two weeks or less.
My 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz has chrome door handles which are all comming loose. Two of them are so loose that they are about to break off. The other two look as if it is only a matter of time. When you try to use the handle thats loose you can get your fingers caught under the handle and smash them up if you aren't careful.
Fuel guage on 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe does not accurately report fuel level.
Door locks failed to work with key remote as well as buttons on the doors. Ended up paying $560. 00 to have locks and latches replaced.
This is a problem with the "rear window/door hinge" of my Tahoe. There has been a recall for 2003 models which use the identical hinge. My 2000 Tahoe has th esame faulty hinge Chevrolet/gm used for the rear window and it is broken on the top right. My rear window is hanging on one side and water coming in. The only thing holding the window right now is the left faulty hinge ! I called gm many times to make point that the faulty hinge they used on rear windows in 2003 is the same hinge I got on my vehicle. It is faulty also. Service confirms it but can't do anything until gm says go fix it. I am driving around with a hanging rear window because of faulty gm hinge. Gm knows the hinges are faulty but only agreeing to fix 2003 models. I have been emailing, calling gm and talking to my local service also, just to change the faulty hinge they put on my vehicle, I nedd to buy a whole rear window costing $1,000. Outraged !.
The dash has major cracking around the airbag and on top of the dash in the area of the steering wheel. The first incident occured in April 2010, had the dash replaced under warranty approximately sept/oct 2010. The second incident occurred in August 2012. Same cracks in dash around airbag. I can't help but wonder if these cracks compromise the airbag in any way. Or if the vehicle is involved in a collision will the dash pieces become airborne projectiles. Have spoken with gm and while they acknowledge that they have had issues with the dash cracking, they do not acknowledge a defect in the dash. A simple internet search provides several instances of these same cracks occuring in many 2007 Chevrolet Tahoes, avalanches, and 2007 GMC yukons. Yes, I could pay to have a new dash installed but it will be the same defective part that will crack again causing the same safety concerns.
2007 chevy Tahoe ltz cracked dash, I have been to many different websites with pictures of the same exact cracked dashboards as mine, 3 and half years a dash should not crack, these are luzury vehicles and expensive and should be made with good quality. . . Read more...
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that on March 19, 2010, the driver rolling up the rear passenger side window when a passengers finger became stuck in the weather stripping. The passengers right index finger was amputated about 1/8th of an inch on the tip. A hospital report was available. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000. The current mileage was approximately 53,700.
Transmission had to be replaced and I paid for half, gm goodwill paid for half. When you pay over $42,000 for a vehicle it should last more than 50,000 miles!.
Door handles. I has the vehicle for 12 months when the chrome on all four door handles started peeling. The chrome is sharp and causes cuts that have been deep.
My only complaint with the entire vehicle is the door handles, made of plastic. They have all broken off. This should not happen.
The hinge that holds the rear lift gate window onto the vehicle has broken/separated from the glass due to stress or improper installation. The window is in tact, but the window part of the lift gate cannot be opened and closed properly and when closed, it is not seated in the proper position. This part of the lift gate has probably been used about 5 times in the life of the truck which now has about 53,000 miles on it. I have reported the problem to Chevrolet which denies any knowledge of this happening to other vehicles. I am concerned about the possibility of the window breaking loose entirely during the time the vehicle is being driven. Chevrolet's only option is to 'try' to glue the part back onto the window or replace the window entirely at my cost of nearly $1000. This is not acceptable and in my opinion, is a serious accident waiting to happen. I believe it needs to be addressed as a safety issue and a recall issued to have this taken care of.
Exaust manafold bolts breaking off. Epa emmisions . Exaust leak under hood can get into passanger compartment.
Peeling interior paint - two of the four doorhandles paint is peeling causing sharp and jagged edges resulting in cut fingers. Brakes - all brakes and rotors bad at 39,000 miles and had to be replaced. Way too early! now the brakes squeel all the time, are soft and had to be flushed 2 times within 6 months of each other. Windows - continuing issues with the windows screetching when going up and down. Attempted to fix three times and just keeps repeating. Is starting to scuff/scratch the glass and leave oil streaks. Was told this is normal. Rear liftgate (manual) - struts freeze every winter so that the tailgate does not go up all the way. Have hit head on this numerous times. Been replaced 3 times and counting.
The speedometer on my 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe is not working. When im sitting still it is reading 75 miles per hour. My rpm gage stopped working about 2 weeks ago and now its moved to the speedometer.
I have a 2007 chevy Tahoe. Since I bought the car these are some of the issues I have had with the car- all within the first year - some issues are ongoing. Three of the four door handles are frayed and cause cuts. The center console was literally coming apart at the seams. I can hear the sound of wind very loudly with the windows up. Shortly after I bought the car - I returned to the service dept. At the dealer (moreno valley Chevrolet) advising them that the door locks are not properly operating with the key fob and that the sound of wind was/is very loud and the tires are making noise. Well , they replaced, reset, and whatever else to the door locks - and the electronic fob still did not (and does not) work. Even after three (or four) attempts to reslove this - I have to use the key, the fob does not work. The dvd player plays at will. At one of those visits - where I advised of excessive noise, the dealer replaced three of my tires and my dvd player - without my request. The service tech says - "OH, they hooked you up. " I asked and asked "why" they replaced these things and no one, including the service manager, had an answer. And still - the tires wear unevenly, are loud, and the ride is not smooth and the dvd player plays when it wants to. I took my car to jiffy lube for an oil change and the guy there said, "one day, your tires are going to fall off, this (what the name was-I can't recall) is broken. . . It's just a matter of time before it falls apart. " I took it to the dealer (moreno valley chevy) and they said "cannot duplicate. " never, ever another chevy.
Gas mileage on my 2007 chevy Tahoe is much worse than the advertised 21mpg. I am lucky if I get 13mpg on regular gasoline. Don't get me started on the e85 scam - less mpg and only $0. 30 cheaper than regular gasoline? the dealer scammed me into believing it was an apples to apples comparison of e85 and gas.
Chevrolet is discontinuing on star emergency call signals from all 2002 vehicles without any option to renew. We depend on the 911 auto call feature.
I leased a 2007 Tahoe in June 2006. After about 10k or 15k I began to hear alot of noise when turning left or right. I asked the Tahoe dealership to check it out and they stated it was not a problem. Months later the problem continued to get worse an louder. Same dealership states it not a problem. The clicking, squealing noise have gotten worse. Third time same dealership states there's nothing wrong. May 21, 2008, I go to a different dealership for a service and because all my friends say there has to be something wrong. I was told that it is a known problems with gm model, I. E. , Tahoe yukons suburbuns. The intermediate shaft that is installed wears out, and has to be replaced, in models dating back to 98 at least. He states I would have to pay for repair. I researched an found that hundreds of complaints and forums about the very problem but there is no recall about. They have been using the same shaft for years and now have improved part that consumers have to pay for out of their pockets. How can they knowlingly place bad parts in vehicles and not be responsible for repairing. I was told that unless they had a new for the intermediate shaft it would have to be replaced every 10k miles.
At 3700 miles noticed front tires were feathering. After visiting dealer and questioning they asked if I had tires rotated? I explained the mileage on the vehicle was too low so they suggested rotating and coming back. Also, window trim on 2 rear windows coming off since first day of ownership, recently been told this is a recall and a known problem.
: the contact stated the whole front of the child safety seat base shook while the safety seat was fastened securely in the vehicle. The manufacturer was alerted and informed the contact there was other complaints concerning this model of child safety seat and the company was working on a new design for the base. The make of the child safety seat was cosco; model number: 22-630 hpn. The manufacturer date was 10-04-05.
Upon returning from a 2000 mile trip my wife left her place of work and upon exiting the lot heard a loud thup she looked in the mirror and noticed that the entire spare tire assembly was lying in the roadway. A fellow employee ran over and collected the tire and the additional partsthat use to hold the tire up. We are taking the vehicle to the dealer. My warrenty just went off in September. I feel that this is defenitly a safety issue that we should not be charged for along with the fact that some one could have been seriously hurt or killed as a result of a fully inflated tire hitting the roadway I will let you know the results I also climbed under neath the Tahoe and noticed the the cable is very small in diameter I have a suspicion the cable is rusting out near the crimped end. This really needs to be looked into by general mtrs.
The speedometer will not register correctly. This has not worked for a week. Took it to the dealer and the dealer said it is not covered on warranty. Called gm and they said the it was not covered on warranty and the dealer would have a fee. Have not tried to fix the problem because of he feels the vehicle has a safety defect and gm won't cover it.
Over the past 2 years have had multiple incidents of low speed brake failure/inadequate braking, especially on down hill grades. Parking lots. Feels like abs is malfunctioning. Multiple mechanics have worked on system, all relate it to abs malfunctions. Awaiting info on ne recall due to salt corrosion affecting abs. News media stated the entire system would have to be replaced to correct situation. Only luck has prevented an accident so far.
I seem to have a problem with my abs brakes. I believe it was a contributing factor in 1 accident. Resulting in damage to 2 trucks. It was repaired but the bodyshop, associated with a gm dealer, failed to repair and or indentify the brake problem.
Speedometer sticks and can get caught can go all the way up to 120 mph when not moving. The only way to get the speedometer back to zero is to start the car and stop the car and the speedometer will drop by 5 mph each time. I have asked several people who drive Tahoes and denali and they have the same issue. I have a 2003 chevy Tahoe 5. 3 v8. Brought the car to dealer and it is always back to zero by the time I get to the dealer and they cannot reproduce the issue. Unable to rely on speedometer for accurate speed always questioning if it is reading properly.
My anti-lock brakes kick in when applying the brakes at slow speeds. This happened last year and we had the parts replaced on one side (but don't remember the exact date). It is now happening again, and we believe the other side needs replacement. Also had the problem one time when I was just going slow in a parking lot and not applying brakes. Also having a problem with engine knock. Mechanic said it was a defect with the cyclinder.
I noticed, searching on the NHTSA home page that there are 2 recalls on my 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe I don't know about and my question is how I can get these problems whit my car fixed since I never received any recall notices on my car and I fear it can cause me a bigger problem or fatality can you send me information how to proceed or if I need to call the manufacturer about it to let them know about my concern for this safety problem. Thank you in advance for your time and support.
Odometer fraud. I purchased a vechicle and later found out that the miles have been rolled back almost 100,000 miles. I would like information on how to proceede in filing both criminal and civil charges against the responsible party.
Vehicle was going 35mph when chimes/ reduced speed light, and engine light indicator illuminated. Vehicle slowed down while accelerator pedal was still pressed down. Vehicle was losing power, and not responding to speed up. Eventually, vehicle rolled to a stop and stalled. Vehicle experienced the same problem on 3rd of June, but had progressed. Dealer was contacted, and throttle was determined the cause of the problem. Pleae provide more information.
My mother-in-law was getting in our 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. As she was closing the door the handle nicked her finger and cut her. After further investigation, we found that the handle had began to peel and had created a sharp edge. We put a piece of tape over it and have had it that way since. She had a 1" cut on her index finger, which we treated with alcohol and a band-aid.
1997 Tahoe had a stick substance in the cargo area. The black rubber piece that is attached to the iron bar that the tire is mounted to has been melting and dripping into the cargo area. The substance was very strong and made the consumer feel sick while driving the vehicle.
Consumer requests information about general motors vehicles. Consumer would like to know if these vehicle are more likely to catch on fire in a crash. A friend of the consumer has a 2002 Tahoe which caught on fire minutes after a slight front end collision caused the gas line to rupture. The consuemr also owns a 2002 Tahoe.
There is no indication on nstrument panel or door alarm to indicate that doors are ajar.
Consumer bought a bar to hang clothes on from the dealer. When adding weight to the bar, the hook came out and caused the bar to fall. The hooks fell out of the ceilings anchor ports and allowed the bar and clothes to fall which was located above the rear seats.
While driving 65 mph, the driver noticed that smoke was coming from the front rear of the vehicle. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. Please provide further details.
I have had nothing but headaches with this Tahoe. No safety defect listed.
While trabeling on highway depressed the gass pedal, and vehicle stalled without indications, engine check light came on. Dealer has been notified, also manufacturer.
This is the safest vehicle on the road, don't raise the insurance rates because of small car paranoia.
The consumer would like an update on this vehicle. Recall#00v122000 scc.
