2006 chevy Tahoe, rear hatch will not unlock/open. Window will not open as well, keyless entry so I have no other options. Safety issue as I have 5 children and there is no manual way to open the latch from the outside or inside of vehicle. Just spent $400 on a faulty acceleration sensor that went out while driving on the highway. Lost power to vehicle on the highway, another safety issue that might need to be investigated.

Driver's side door lock will not work unless I push it down manually. If you don't lock the door manually and press "lock" on the key fob - when you try to open the door the alarm goes off.
2006 Chevrolet Tahoe w/ 3rd row seating. The liftgate lock failed without any indication that it was going out. This is very fearful for our family for which we have small children who may become trapped and unable to escape this vehicle in the event of an accident. I read 11 complaints online from other consumers with this same matter. Chevrolet are aware that these complaints are out there and know the risk in which are involved. Why should they wait until someone is seriously injured or a death occurs due to a defect on their end. I would hate for this to happen to anyone and I hope that you all can look into this. Not to mention that this particular vehicle doesn't have a key entry to unlock it as well. Please look into recalling what others have identified as the actuator. Thank you, tangela david mpressinu2@yahoo. Com.
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe has faulty chrome door handles owned the SUV for a little over a year. All 4 have been replaced but with the same faulty handles. Recently the drivers handle broke again. This time my husband had to tie and hold the door closed to get to the dealership they wanted us to pay for the last 2 b/c it's out of warranty. They said it's a one time comp. The next time we will have to pay. Dealership says they have nothing but problems with the chrome handles. They need to be recalled and replaced with a new design.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated he was unable to open the rear lift gate automatically or manually. The local mechanic inspected the vehicle and noticed that the power lock actuator had failed. The vehicle was repaired. A local mechanic replaced the power lock actuator. The VIN information was not available. The failure and the current miles were 70,000.
2006 chevy Tahoe exit door for 3rd row seating has no manual emergency exit and also has become locked and will not open. Repair est. At 600+ dollars but still wil not provide emergency manual exit through this liftgate or window behind 3rd row seat. Extremely dangerous for children or disabled needing out incase of emergency. Ada should review this problem for disabled needing equiptment and access through this door!.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the rear windows and rear lift gate would not open. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.
Rear glass hinge in 2003 Tahoe ripping from hinge. Window must now be forced sideways to engage locking mechanism to close rear glass hatch. Lifting entire hatch effects the glass hinge as well. Rt corner of window now protrudes above roof line and I am concerned this will "catch" during highway speeds and blow off as has been reported previously. Local chevy dealership repair facility informed me this is common and they have repaired 2 that week for the same issue. They informed me that their repair statistics do not go up towards chevy corporate for trend and failure analysis. They referred me to the chevy customer service number. Chevrolet customer service was called and they conducted a 2 hour investigation to determine hinge defects are normal wear and tear. Current costs to repair are approx $1000. 00.

I tried to open the window hatch and the whole thing fell off its hinge. In looking into this to try to get this fixed, I have noticed that this seems to be a very common problem and seems to be a manufacturing defect. There needs to be a recall on this. If I was driving down a highway and this was to fall off, this could be devastating and can cause deaths to anyone behind me.

2006 chevy Tahoe, 63,000 miles, rear liftgate stuck in locked position. No manual way to open, in the event of an accident/emergency you can not exit from the rear seriously increasing the potential time to exit vehicle. From all the blog posts etc. . . This appears to be a defect in the locking mechanism itself. The right thing to do would be to identify correction and replace before someone is seriously injured or killed-one death would be one too many.
Driver's door and driver side rear locks failed. Neither door lock would operate manually or with key remote. Access in/out had to be from passenger side. This is the second occurance. First time repairs were in excess of $400, this time repairs for both doors are $580.
In April 2011, the front passenger door would periodically not lock unless I manually locked it. Eventually it would not lock automatically at any time. A couple of months later the front driver door began doing the same thing. The car was under warranty until August 2011 so we had the locks replaced by a Chevrolet dealership in July 2011. I was told this was a known problem. They refused to give me an extended warranty on the new front locks or the rear locks that were not replaced b/c at the time they were working. In February 2012 the rear driver side door will not unlock automatically. About a week later, the rear passenger side door began to occassionally stay locked. I consider this a very concerning safety issue b/c I can not open the door unless I manually unlock the door by either climbing through the other side-if it opens or through the front seat. In the event on an emergency and the door locks fail to unlock, I (or emergency response crews) would be unable to remove my infant son whose car seat is placed in the middle seat or my three year old daughter who is on the passenger side. It is an enormous hassle to climb over car seats or through the front to unlock doors, but more importantly I am very fearful of driving with the kids in the car in case I were unable to remove them from the car if we were in an accident, etc. I called the chevy dealership again and was once again told, it was a known problem and my car was now not under warranty so I would be responsible for payment. I explained I had the front door locks replaced in July and the person I spoke to said "if it is not broken, chevy will not fix it. " they have suggested I can request/apply for the gm assistance program. I feel very strongly that because it is a known problem and definitely a safety issue, there should be a recall or they should replace the locks at no cost.
2006 Chevrolet Tahoe hatchback & liftgate won't open.
I am writing to advise a complaint regarding our 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz door handles. In April 2011, the outside drivers side door handle came partially unattached from the body of the vehicle. The handle came loose only on one side (the far left) leaving it attached from only the far right. The exact same thing happened to the drivers side rear passenger within the last week. That is 2 handles in 2 months. My 5 year old daughter pinched her finger in the unattached space while attempting to open the door. I have taken our vehicle to the dealer and they are charging $172 per handle for the repairs. Vehicle is a 2007 with only 25,000 miles.
I had noticed that on my 2005 chevy Tahoe I was not able to open the tailgate it seemed to be locked, I tried to unlock it manually and it would not unlock from driver door when you hit to unlock everything manually. I also cannot push the button and open the glass manually either. Nor can I open it from crawling inside the truck to try to push the tailgate open. So if there was a accident there seems to be no way of getting out through the back entrance which is scary. I have tried multiple times to open it and it will not open, I cannot for any reason use the back tailgate anymore which I find a inconvenince and was one of the reasons I bought the truck in the first place.

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz door handles have been replaced at least once and now going on to the second set. These are poorly made exterior door handles.
The door lock actuators on my 2008 chevy Tahoe have been replaced 5 or 6 times, 2 or 3 the first time and 3 more the last time a few weeks ago all under warranty. The Tahoe has 33k miles on it this problem has occurred on every door at least once this is a safety concern and should be recalled immediately as sometimes the door will only work manually by actually pulling up the door button to open the door from the inside or out. In some cases the affected door does not lock when car is put in gear which can result in a child or an adult inadvertently pulling on the door handle while going down the highway and the door swinging open or in an emergency not being able to open the door without having to enter through another door chevy dealer suggested I get an extended warranty because after 36k miles it will cost $325 a door to fix the faulty actuators when they break again. This is the first time I have never had a vehicle with any kind of door lock issues and to have 5 or 6 problems within 3 years is a problem not to mention a huge saftey concern for drivers and passengers alike.
We own a 2005 chevy Tahoe. Rear hatch lock actuator assembly failed, causing the rear door to be stuck in the locked and closed position. There is no manual release from the inside, nor a manual keyhole to unlock from the outside, which poses a safety hazard. Current and failure mileage 89,160. Vehicle was taken to dealer who charged $626 to replace assembly.
Doors will not all lock or unlock. Dealer said that lock actuators in each door need replacment.
Passenger lacerated right hand middle finger on sharp edge of peeling chrome on the top of the rf door handle. The rear doors exhibit some roughness of the chrome overlay indicating probable failure of the bonding on these as well. The drivers door handle was replaced the prior week at the owners expense for the same issue.
Drivers side door will intermittently not open from inside or outside. Must climb out other side door. This would be a death trap in an emergency.
Own a 2005 chevy Tahoe, the rear liftgate and window will not open using the unlock on the door or depressing the key fob. Has worked without a problem and all of a sudden quit today. We checked all of the fuses and then began searching on the internet. Have read similar problems and am assuming it is an internal part. However, there is no way to open the door from the outside or inside manually. I often carry my daughter and up to 5 other girl scouts. In case of an accident, there is no way to exit the vehicle from the rear. This is a safety issue and should be addressed by chevy. Don't know if new versions have a manual unlock, but is a hazard for those models that don't.
Liftgate glass fell on head when opened. Appears weak bracket at top of glass is insufficient in quality, considering liftgate glass is rarely opened/closed. Mileage at incident was 58,102. . . Vehicle is 3 1/2 years old.
Two exterior door handles broke off in my hand in the past year. Seems to be more of a problem with the chrome ones than the other types.
Outer door handles frequently break sometimes coming off completely. These handles provide best emergency access to small children in rear child safety seats. Lack of reliable access posses significant safety risk.
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe ltz all door handles have broken, now a pinch hazard and major defect on the SUV.
Drivers door, front passenger, and driver side passenger doors do not lock or unlock using key less entry and driver side door lock button. 2008 Tahoe lt withonly 38k just out of warrantly.
The automatic door locks no longer work. When using the key fob to lock the doors, they do not go up or down. When placing the car in drive, the locks do not go down. When placing the car in park the locks do not go back up.
I have had an ongoing problem with the passenger side rear door lock not locking properly. It seems that the is a problem with the actuator. I have researched this and found that it is a huge problem for many Tahoe owners.

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and over the past 3 months, the door handles have begun to come loose and pull off the vehicle. I've done research online and I've found that this is a very common problem. The piece is made of plastic and snaps into place and thus has become loose. All 4 of my doors are experiencing this problem and we've been told that gm is not covering this under warranty (I have an extended warranty as well) because it is considered a "trim" piece for the vehicle. This is another reason why I won't buy another gm car and hope they fail next time. I can't beleive the government bailed them out and I would like a return of my portion of taxes given to them for their ignorance, lack of quality and lack of professionalism.
Rear liftgate and window fail to unlock or open with keyless entry fob. There is no way to open or unlock. Dealership said it was a failed actuator and almost $600 to replace.
2007 Tahoe interior door handles. Peeling plastic chrome. Cut fingers.
The safety equipment locks and actuator have started to fail one by one on my 2008 chevy Tahoe lt3. The first was covered by the warranty, but the last one was not. It appears this is a problem that gm has a problem with, but has failed to acknowledge.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. While the vehicle was parked she noticed that the rear latch had become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure. The dealer performed a diagnostic and advised her that the latch would need replacing. She called the manufacture and was advised that there were no recalls and referred her to the dealer for further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 164,039 and the current mileage was 165,039.
