Started my tahoe to drive home and I'm going 70 mph down a highway when all of a sudden my engine light pops on and says engine power is reduced plus it says service traction control and service stabilitrak. I went from 70 mph to 20 mph in less than 5 seconds and now my tahoe is sputtering and has no power. The whole vehicle is vibrating. I've shut off the vehicle multiple times and I can't get the error to go away. Sitting at an idle my rpms fluctuate consistently. Unknown but I have a feeling that the throttle body is going out on the engine, it would be the only thing I can think of that would cause the engine to drop speed and sputter like this non stop.
When I press down on the gas, my vehicle stalls about five seconds before it actually takes off. When I try to stop, it does not stop right away as I press down on the break. I've almost rear another vehicle on several occasions while sitting at a red light. I have to stay at least 15 feet away from the vehicle in front of me. My vehicle has shut down while I was driving. My engine light comes on and goes off periodically. If I turn my wheel to sharply (reverse or forward), it jerks, makes a loud noise, and then it feels like its about to cut off. I feel really unsafe driving, however, I have no choice because I have to work.
When driving around and at a stop light the engine will go into auto stop. When applying pressure to gas pedal the vehicle will hesitate and then lurch forward. Vehicle will also get a high idle between 1500 rpm and 2200 rpm and fluctuate between those rpms. Also when idling below 1,000 rpms the engine will rev up and down as if pressure is being applied to the gas pedal but there is no pressure being applied at all. Been having this issue for quite sometime and I figured it was just some bad fuel but it has been consistent. Also have no lights illuminated on the dash, no check engine lights or anything. I haven't taken to dealer yet because I am waiting on the supplies for the air bag recall so they can work on the vehicle while replacing the air bag.
When started (usually the second time of the day after being driven to work and then having sat all day) the vehicle coughs and runs rough for a second. Then the throttle does not respond to input for a variable period of time. When it does respond it may respond to previous input causing unanticipated acceleration. I have had to use both feet on the brake to avoid a crash. Throws no codes. Dealer says they cannot diagnose it although they have reproduced it. In addition, an independent shop says that on start/restart there is a grinding noise in the starter/transmission (the electric motor in the transmission is used as a starter). Dealer denies hearing this although the independent says it happens every time.
