I was driving when one of the lifters collapsed , I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle I submitted another complaint a while ago and hadn't heard nothing , now my back hatch wont open my doors on the passenger side don't lock with the button or remote I have done nothing but put money into this vehicle since I got it , it has an oil issue it fowls out the number 1 plug all the time ,ive changed the oil sensor and sending unit , the spider gear in the rear end shredded which there known for had to have that rebuilt ,I had the new valve cover put on , cv joint is leaking , paid over $2200 to have the collapsed lifter fixed , my check engine light is on again saying oil gage, already replaced that once my clock wont work its been in the shop more than my driveway.
Motor mounts were broken what's resulted in the vehicle lunging me forward when coming to a stop. The check engine light for the hybrid battery also came on. The result is the car shaking and shutting off more than once when attempting to accelerate from a stopped position. Once was in a very busy intersection. It shut off when coming out of a bank parking lot and turning on to a busy street.
On numerous occasions (35 plus times in past 2 months) I have experienced a terrifying complete loss of power to every electronically controlled component of my vehicle. For 3 to 5 seconds I have absolutely no power steering, traction control or headlights. My dashboard display goes blank, all radio and ac display goes off as well as their functions, my door locks repeatidly lock and unlock and my acceleration stalls out. After the power interruption all my dashboard warning lights (abs/ airbags/ stabilitrack/ traction control/ check engine) flash on and off for a few seconds when they all stop flashing the traction control and stabilitrack warning lights remain glowing. On 1 occasion while driving 75 miles an hour in the rain on a toll road with my daughter in the vehicle I experienced this situation only power did not return for 6 to 8 minutes leaving me to wrestle my rolling vehicle across 3 busy lanes of 75 mph traffic to the shoulder without power steering. I had to sit there with my child as traffic flew by until power returned and I was able to restart my car. I was absolutely terrified we were gonna be hit but we were on an elevated section of the roadway so the concrete barrier prevented us from getting out on the passenger side while contact fast moving traffic made exiting the driver side impossible as well. These issues have occurred in every type of driving scenario or condition. Randomly occurring while turning, accelerating, driving on an incline, braking, hitting bumps with no consistent factor being present. The date below indicates the onset of these repeat occurrences.

When I press down on the gas, my vehicle stalls about five seconds before it actually takes off. When I try to stop, it does not stop right away as I press down on the break. I've almost rear another vehicle on several occasions while sitting at a red light. I have to stay at least 15 feet away from the vehicle in front of me. My vehicle has shut down while I was driving. My engine light comes on and goes off periodically. If I turn my wheel to sharply (reverse or forward), it jerks, makes a loud noise, and then it feels like its about to cut off. I feel really unsafe driving, however, I have no choice because I have to work.
My complaint towards my 2008 chevy Tahoe Hybrid is while driving my trucks stalls, twice already while driving off a parking lot onto the street it has shut off on me. Is getting to a point that I am afraid to drive it, I took it to the chevy place they kept it for 8-10 through 8/17, pick it up and the very next day the truck began stalling, dropped it off on a Monday 8/21, called the service department on Friday 8/25 and they said they can't fix it but they are going to keep it over the weekend to see what they can do. I love my truck but afraid of it. . . I feel I am risking my life and the lives of the other drivers while I am on the rode.
Airbags do not deflate upon impact and electrical system short circuit on the printed circuit board and harness electrical short.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. The contact stated that the service engine warning light and various warning indicators randomly flashed at a high rate of speed. The instrument cluster randomly shorted out while driving approximately 75 mph. Also, there was a drastic reduction in speed and the vehicle stalled. The contact had to apply extreme force to the steering wheel and the power steering assist failed. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence due to the sudden failure. An independent repair shop inspected the vehicle and was able to review the diagnostic trouble codes, but was unable to provide a diagnosis to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was to be inspected and diagnosed by a dealer to determine the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
Out side rearview mirrors, will not open and close, using inside switch. Have to roll down windows to adjust mirrors. This is done when entering or backing out of the garage.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. After driving the vehicle and aproaching a stop, the vehicle was supposed to shift from gas to electric. However, it involuntarily accelerated even with the brake pedal depressed. In order to stop the vehicle, it had to be shifted to neutral. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure. The failure occurred multiple times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled after depressing the brake pedal. After the failure occurred, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle could be operated after the failure using the vehicle manual control feature. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the entire electronic brake control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was approximately 142,000. Djr.
Its about a corner I have just got a used chevy tahoe hybird 2008 at a dealer in NJ with 30 day warranty, and now the doors from lr-driver left rear and rr-passenger side rear lock doesnt open or lock! had my friend in back and doors didnt open from no way!! hope in god that theres a fire or emergency how does my kids, family get out? thats my problem. I think in every case safety is alway first! and hope chevy should fix it as a recall!!.
Sirius xm signal is not working and I have had the dealer do a reboot/reset on the radio. The reset worked for 2-3 months when I took it to gilchrist Chevrolet in tacoma wa. I have lost signal again and dealership is not very helpful with this type of situation. Sirius xm points their finger at gm and gm is pointing their finger at sirius xm. I just want my radio to work. Dealership does not seem knowledgeable about hybrid cars that gm manufactured.
Rear door locks (actuators) stopped working. First passenger rear lock failed to open or close. This happened after warranty coverage had ended. After some research I have found out that this is a widespread gm issue especially with 2008-09 gm SUV type of vehicles. My understanding is that the actuator motor fails. It is also my understanding that this electrical failure is due to a very inexpensive electrical actuator is used for the locking mechanism. This is a real safety issue and I am wondering when gm will be held accountable.
The electric door locks that engage when the vehicle is placed in gear have stopped working. If a parent relies on this system the doors may not lock resulting in a dangerous situation. This is a system failure. . .
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. The contact stated that while attempting to open the vehicle's hatch door, the locks would not disengage. The failure recurred on several ocassions. However, the contact also stated that on a separate ocassion and while driving at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled causing another vehicle to crash against it. There was no medical attention required and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,475. Kr.
I have never had any issues other than the recalls with my tahoe. I pulled into a parking space at my bank. As I got into the space. The brakes went to the floor and I put both feet on the brake pedal at this point. The rpms went up. It was like the engine came to life by itself. It self accelerated over the concrete spacer and sidwalk into the bank's brick wall. The airbag deployed upon impact. There was never a time it decelerated. There was no one in the car but me thankfully. There were no warning lights. There were no bells warning of the failure. I would estimate it took 2-3 seconds to go from almost stopped in a parking space to hitting the brick. I am so shaken by this incident and I have no idea what to do. GMC has been informed.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. The contact stated that the keyless entry malfunctioned. After locking the doors electronically, while driving 25 mph, the rear passenger door opened. The contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealer who replaced the door actuator on the rear passenger door. Now the front driver and passenger side door actuators were also malfunctioning; the vehicle was being repaired by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Complete vehicle failure - gm has admitted that they are at a loss as to how to fix the many errors (22) that show up on diagnostics. It was towed 3 times in 5 days & has now been at the dealership for 2 weeks & is still not functional.
