Two problems related to front suspension upper ball joint have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving at a moderate speed (~40 mph) the front end of the vehicle began to shake. I slowed down, and turned on to a side road. As I came to a stop the front, driver's side wheel collapsed inward. Fortunately, there were no injuries or further damage to the vehicle. There was no previous hint of a problem. Per the garage mechanic, the upper ball joint on the driver's side had "separated", causing the wheel to collapse. The part was replaced, and the damaged part (which I viewed) was thrown away. The vehicle rides fine now, but I worry about the other ball joints.
While exiting the interstate, the right front wheel collapsed with a broke upper ball joint.
