No problems with my 2003 chevy Trailblazer previously. Went out to start it and it wouldn't go in reverse. Needed new tranmission at a cost of $4,000 dollars. My understanding is that this is a common problem with Trailblazers but it has not been addressed.

7 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2008

I own a 2003 chevy Trailblazer ext with 4wd. On several occasions the vehicle has rolled away while in park. Also, the vehicle on 2 separate occasions went forward when the gear select was in reverse. Finally, on 4 occasions the vehicle put itself in neutral. Twice at speed and twice while waiting at traffic lights. This vehicle nearly ran over my 3-year-old child and the dealer claims all of these instances have been driver error. I've had it with gm and their unwillingness to see any urgency with this huge safety related issue.

8 Automatic Transmission problem

Transmission lines rotted out. Lost fluid and tranny went south!. 1400 for repairs!. Thanks alot gm. Junk!.

9 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2008

My Chevrolet Trailblazer ext, that I purchased 4 1/2 years ago and it has 44,000 miles on it, has a transmission problem. The Chevrolet dealership tells me that it is a 2000 fix. I am angry and disappointed that a vehicle with relatively few miles on it is having such a major problem.

10 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

Transmission will not shift into 3rd gear and has high rpms (3500-4000).

11 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2007

Transmission went out at 63,000 miles -- clutch fan went out along with transmission. No warning -- nothing. This seems to be a common problem with Trailblazers. Gm should order a recall --overall expense is over $2000. 00.

12 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2007

The automobile starts out in 2nd gear and at highway speed the transmission hunts for the correct gear shifting back and forth.

13 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2006

We have a 2003 chevy Trailblazer and have had nothing but problems with it since we bought it brand-new. It was back in the shop within 2 months of purchasing it due to needing the entire fuse box replaced. It has been back in for repairs numerous times for engine failure and problems with the gauges. We have had the entire speedometer panel replaced at our expense and spent $1200 on repairs related to the transmission. We returned it to the dealer 2 months later due to the exact same difficulties with the engine stalling and they told us the computer needed to be reprogrammed. We paid for that and not one week later the vehicle is continuing to stall on us. It has been extremely dangerous and in at least once circumstance has almost caused an accident. This vehicle is unsafe to drive. The engine has quit on us on at least 12 different occasions within the last 2 months, despite being in for repairs twice for the same issue. We are extremely disappointed in this vehicle and are saddened by the fact that we have spent so much money and to no avail. We have since learned that many, many other people are experiencing the same trouble. We are taking it back to the dealer tomorrow and trading it in. We need something that is reliable and safe out on the roads. And this vehicle is definitely not safe.

14 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2006

Well maintained 2003 Trailblazer transmission had to be replaced due to 80,000 mileage. Therefore, a defective design must have lead to this occurrence. We paid over $3,000 for a gm rebuilt transmission with a 3 year and 100,000 mile warranty. Thus with this type of warranty, the manufacturer must have been aware the initial product was defective.

15 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2006

Multiple problems with this vehicle with only 40,000 miles on it! power window assembly broke and repaired twice on the same door, inoperable climate control unit, front dashboard gets extremely hot at all times, brakes squeal all the time (dealer could not figure it out and was remedied with ceramic brake pads after multiple attempts), transmission has poor shifting pattern (bulletin provided a new shift program for the transmission and the dealer installed but is right back to it's original problem after 3 months).

16 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

We have a 2003 Trailblazer and very early on after purchasing the vehicle, we started having transmission problems. We have had it worked on numerous times and the last time at our cost. Now almost a year after paying to have the transmission's repaired at a Chevrolet dealer, the same problems have arisen again.

17 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2006

2003 chevy Trailblazer with 57,000 miles failed to shift from second gear up could only drive in first and second gear. Stranded two hours from home. Transmission needs to be rebuilt.

18 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2005

Second time to dealer with transmission problems, had to be rebuilt, only 26,578 mi on it, never towed anything. Brought back 3rd time 1/3/07 now out of warranty, transmission fried needing replacement. Local aamco very familiar with Trailblazer transmission problems claims the sun gear reaction shell is junk and not powerful enough for reverse. Chevy continues to use this part. Transmission problems reported all over the internet.

19 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2005

My vehicle was taken in the crain on several occasions for the transmission, leading up to this incident. I took the vehicle in to crain on September 26, and was told that the transmission was completely gone. Of course, they quoted me a price of $2,000. 00 which I feel that I shouldn't be out of pocket for anything because I repeatedly took the vehicle in because the transmission wasn't shifting proper. Of course, they sent me on my way and stated that there wasn't a mechanical problem with the transmission. The service advisor pulled all of my service tickets that showed that the vehicle was brought in for the transmission. . . . They then agreed to split the amount with me; however, I feel as though I shouldn't have to split the cost because I made several trips to crain's service department prior to this last visit to the service department.

20 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2005

The transmission on my 2003 Trailblazer stopped working while driving out of my driveway and onto the highway. All gears including neutral grind gears when engaged. The car could not be driven and needed to be towed to the transmission shop. This cas has never been towed or plowed and rarely uses 4 wheel drive (winters only). It now has 39k miles and out of warranty, however, I now realize that there has been many transmission problems like mine in earlier year models as well as the 2003. I would like this organization to investigate the possible flaw in gm's transmission used in these vehicles. Thank you.

21 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2004

The transmission is very sluggish at times. Upon entering a highway or pulling out into traffic, the vehicle will periodically take off very slow. In a couple instances we were almost hit by oncoming traffic before the transmission kicked in. Upon taking it to the dealer for the fourth time in less than two years, they still insist there is no problem with the vehicle because the on-board computer has not recorded any codes. I'm getting very frustrated by this answer, because I feel the only way they will admit the transmission has a problem is when we are finally involved in an accident, maybe with a fatality. I would rather not get a resolution through this result.

22 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2004

When backing out of a driveway on a 50 degree incline vehicle rolled forward. As a result, vehicle crashed into a fence. Dealer stated transmission malfunctioned.

23 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2004

When shifting from revese to drive low rpms and almost stalls.

24 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2003

2003 Chevrolet trail blazer 2wd 4 spd automatic transmission experience roll back while on incline after vehicle has reached normal operating conditions.
