Tire Sidewall problems of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Upon return to my chevy Trailblazer I found that my tire was approx. A quarter flat. Drove to their installer tire works, where they found a 5/8-3/4 inch hole in the passenger rear tire. The installer said he found a piece of heavy gauge wire about 6" inside the tire and stated "this is what did it. " tires had 10133 miles on them with great tread wear apparent when the failure occurred.
