Engine Cooling System problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Three problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

Trailblazer was making roaring noise when first starting up and took about 2 minutes for it to run normal, voltage meter fluctuates as well as the lights dimming intermittently during this time. This started happening about 3 weeks ago. When first taking off after being stopped, engine accelerates unexpectedly. It jumps, and I have to hit the brakes. It has had this problem since I have owned it (since Jan '09). The last couple of days if the radio is left on, it does not automatically shut off like it is supposed to when you shut the door. The passenger side works. Just had clutch fan and water pump replaced and the mechanic says that it is a common problem with these vehicles. After having that done, it still makes a roaring noise for the first five to ten minutes of driving. Going to have another diagnostic on it to see what is wrong with it. The SUV is a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS, 4wd, 6 cylinder motor and has about 88,000 miles on it.

2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

I have a 2005 Trailblazer ext purchased new in July 05. Recently while driving, the car had reduced engine power, the check engine light then came on then my car just shut off. It started back up after pulling off the road but had to endure this the entire time while driving home. When I took it in for diagnosis I was told the accelerator pedal sensor needed to be repaired after having that repaired I drove home and the same thing happened with the check engine light and the car shutting off while driving. When I took it back again they noticed an additional problem " the fuel level sensor wiring was chaffing on fuel pump ground terminal" or in layman's term the wire was sitting in fuel so they had to remove the fuel tank and reroute the wires. This sounds very dangerous and if this is happening please report it. There are TSB reports on the issue with the accelerator pedal but gm has not issued a recall on this. The question is why not? I have also had to have the output shaft seal on the transmission replaced last year and again this year. Not very happy with this vehicle. In my opinion these are vehicle defects not problems you should be having with the normal maintenance issues. Gm needs to issue recalls to have these issues resolved. Oh in addition to the other problems I also just had to have the thermostat replaced in early June.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2005

I have had my water pump replaced twice in that last 1. 5 years. The first time was covered under warranty but the next time about 10 month the dealership claim it didn't work again. Just today 12/12 I went to drive to work after letting my car warm up for 5 minutes I decided to turn the heat on and nothing came out now I have to call and see if anyone can look my auto. Worse brand new auto that I have had.
