1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2018

Control panel on drivers door is no longer functional, during a heavy rainstorm I got out of my truck, closed the door and ran to my house. The next day the controls no longer worked. This is not the first time I've left my vehicle while raining but the first time the controls stopped working. This was a recall item in other years 2006-2007. Chery does not recognize this being the same issue in the 2005 model. Chevrolet Trailblazer recall - #13v248000. Fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.

Speedometer does not work any longer,4 wheel drive does not engage.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

My 05 Trailblazer keeps shutting off while driving down a city street. In a 2-mile stretch it shut off 5 times with complete loss of steering control almost causing a serious accident. The vehicle trembled and then turned off. It has shut off on me while driving on three other occasions on previous years but it only occurred once and then stopped on those occasions.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

Speedometer stopped working a few times until it completely has gone dead and doesn't work at all. My Trailblazer also has stalled if stopped at a red light more than once.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

I noticed my battery guage quit. Then after starting my truck a few different times, the gas guage read differently. Then my speedometer wduld stick on 100 when I was doing approximatly 60. Then the speedometer would not work at all. There needs to be a recall on it. My friend has a 2005 also and her cluster pannel went out too. Its a 400. 00 repair. This has happened to quite a few 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazers from what ive read online. Come on general motors. You need to recall these models.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2014

Transmission cooling lines are corroded thru. . . .

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

Driver's side passenger door left rear door latch on 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS is stuck. The door will not shut! I have read another complaint for the very same reason and a very similar situation to the ext and there is a recall on the ext but doesn't pertain to the LS. I can't shut my door because the latch won't connect. I opened the door and could not shut it after that because it wouldn't latch. We have looked everywhere and have not been able to locate the part at a reasonable price. I was in the process of selling it, but because of this faulty defect we cannot sell it. We have not been able to get it fixed. No one seems to have the part and we contacted dealerships and they looked up recalls but couldn't help us cause our VIN number isn't covered. What do we do now??.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2013

In 2007 we had installed an internal ignition switch then again in 2010 and now again 2013. The car would just stop and nothing would come on. This is what is installed each time it is done, installed 15242754 sl-n-switch installed 12177251 sl-n-fuse.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2013

Today driving down a highway at 70 mph in my 2005 chevy Trailblazer lt. We heard a loud clacking noise. As I turn around I see the large plastic piece of the tailgate fly off and the 3rd taillight just dangling. In my search tonight I have come to the conclusion I am not the only Trailblazer owner who has had this problem.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Driving down man o war boulevard in lexington, ky - all of a sudden the gas guage stopped working and went to empty. I called gm regarding this issue and they told me that they would not cover repairs for this defect. Since then I've ran out of gas with all 3 of my children in the car while moving at least 45 mph down the road causing cars behind me to slam on thier brakes. This in my opinion is a safety issue. It was their mistake and Chevrolet should pay for the repairs to correct it.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2012

I was driving during summer time and my fuel gage went from full to empty for no reason. I had just filled up, so I knew there was gas in the tank. It has since given me random readings. If I let the gas level fall below 3/4 of a tank. It will go to empty even if I filled the tank. It does work randomly sometimes.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

The rear spoiler looked like someone had tried to remove it with a screwdriver. Eventually it came to the point that it would "flap" in the wind when driving. When driving, it came disconnected from the vehicle while driving on interstate 5. Had it not been for the electrical cord, it could have hit another vehicle on the freeway. I took it to a repair shop. The shop fixes it, but it began doing the same thing within a year. I took it to the repair shop again. Again, the fix failed. I took it a third time and it has just failed again, I will take it to another repair shop and possibly a dealer shop to look at it. I am reading that this is a problem with 2005 trail blazers. I have paid for a repair once and find it difficult to have to pay for the same problem again that is no fault of mine or repeated tampering.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

The instrument cluster went out. I am not sure how fast I am going or how much fuel I have. From everything I have read on line this is very common. I don't understand why gm has not issued a recall.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2011

I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer. In the last few months the blower for my air/heat/defrost has been acting up. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Just recently in the last few days it stopped working completely. I can't use my defrost to clear my windows or use my air or heat. I was told the resistor and harness (which starts to melt and burn) is causing the blower not to work. I checked with mechanics and on line and there isn't a recall on the resistor and/or harness. There are a lot of compalints and was told that it is happening in all chevys.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

Drove to an appointment, when came out vehicle would not start. Called for tow. After approx. 30 mins. And before tow arrived, vehicle started. Was able to drive home and made appointment for service. Next day while driving to shop for service engine died while vehicle was moving. Managed to get off road and vehicle would not start. After a while it started and was able to get it to shop. Ignition switch replaced. Second incident occurred 6/1/2014. Had to have towed to shop. A second ignition switch replacement. Contacted Chevrolet to inquire why 2005 Trailblazer not included in ignition switch recalls and seek possible reimbursement of service costs for recurring problem and was told to contact NHTSA and report.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2011

Speedometer just went haywire. Readings all over the place regardless of actual speed. Same as many others have reported for this vehicle.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2010

Speedometer malfunction.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2010

Speedometer freezes and won't move at all or it goes up to 120 mph. This is really dangerous when driving especially on the highway!.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Speedometer quit working, first 70mph then 90 then 120 , it started bouncing around all over the place. Now it has quit working all together. I believe this is a major safty issue. I have checked into it and thousands of people are experiencing the same issues. This is my wife daily driver and she transports my kids in this vehicle. Chevy needs to man up and address this issue.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2010

Speedodometer on the 2005 Trailblazer. It went crazy on me at about 60,000 miles and after taking it to the dealership, they informed me there was a recall on the chevolet trucks with that problem, but not the SUV's, even though the equipment was the same. The cost to me is $500+ which as a retired person on low income I cannot afford. I have received 2 tickets for going over the speed limit. . . . Even though I am extremely careful and try to drive with the flow of traffic. I am furious. . . . Chevolet should recall this and pay to have the problem fixed. . . It is a defect as I have seen numerous compliants about this with the chevolet Trailblazer.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2010

I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer lt and live in birmingham, al. On my way home from church on a Sunday morning, I encountered a severe issue with my speedometer. As I was driving up on a police officer I looked at my speedometer, which said I was doing 70 so I began slowing down but my speedometer didn't - it continued to go up. I started hitting my brakes thinking that would make the speedometer go back down but it didn't. As I pulled off the interstate and stopped at a red light, the speedometer kept going up to 110 mph. Then as the light turned green, I started again and the speedometer went straight to the bottom facing the floor. I thought when I get home and turn the car off, the speedometer would reset itself. Well . . . It didn't!! I don't know what I'm going to do now! the economy is so !@#$% bad that I'm in the middle of a foreclosure and now this crap happens! gm should recall this faulty issues as it is a dangerous situation. If you don't know how fast you are going . . . How the !@#$% do you drive without a speedometer unless you are looking to get in trouble by the law!!.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2009

A/c was blowing hot air. Took car to mechanic to charge and replace freon and they found a large leak in the line under the gas tank. Called dealership for warranty and was told it did not cover corrosion and the part was on manufactured backorder for 3 weeks costing $1000. Local mechanic was able to weld a piece to fix leak.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Gas gage, shoes it has a different amount of gas. . When turned off it can say its at 1/2 a tank, then when the engine is on it showes that car has 1 1/2 tanks of gas. Its not consistent and I always have to guess how much gas is in the car. Also the check light is always on. The gas tank has issues too.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

In the beginning the speedometer would go all the way to highest speed immediately upon cranking vehicle. After a few months or quit working all together. The the gas gage quit working a few months after that. Then again a few months later all other gages quit working except rpm gage. That is only functioning gage on instrument panel.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2009

The dash board cluster stop working so the amount of gas I put in the car does not show how much. The speed of the car I can't tell how fast I'm going.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Fuel sensor within fuel tank has failed twice within 130,000 miles. Idler pulley has been replaced three times within 120,000 miles.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

I purchased my '05 Trailblazer new off the lot never had any problems until the speed odometer stopped working. Couple years later my oil & gas gage stopped working. I based my speed off my rpm & calculate my gas mileage after each fill up. Now my dashboard lights are dimming & I've noticed on many occasions my headlights flicker. . . I have replaced the battery twice & the water pump twice. Now when my check engine light or this other little chk gage light comes on, I don't know if a malfuntion of if something is truly wrong. Now it's running rough, acts as if it wants to cut off. They have checked all that they can but because the chk engine light isnt on, theres no way for them to identify the problem. And unfortunately, when the mechanic rides with me of course the car won't do it. . . And altho, these are seperate issues I can't wonder if replacing the battery is connected the same system as the dashboard. I've been told by 2 differ mechanics it would cost up to $600 to replace the whole system. But after reading all the complaints, many having the same issue as me I can't help but wonder if this problem could or should be on a recall & if not, why? if you view the complaints why not look into the very present & persistant problem! its very frustrating & agrravating to play a guessing game when your up & down a highway daily! not to mention a safety hazzard! surely, your company isn't so money hungry that you can't take responsibility for you product & offer to pay for some or all the costs to repair! I'm a single mother of 3 & I was blessed enough to pay my car off a year ago but I've paid more in repair costs & stressing whether or not I'll make it safely to & from my destination! I never had this many issues with my grand Jeep cherokee. I am truly disappointed in your vehicle. . .

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2007

Since the purchase my tb engine will stop when ac and heater is on on stop light, that it was delaying while driving. It got worse after "warranty was out, I believe in July 2007. No one can find the cause, but thinking its all system faulty. , engine, electronics, fans. Could I afford a new car, I would not keep this car, as now I know it was the worse year making of all. Now I only pray to stay alive while driving and not get into some beyond my control but faulty gm model makers.
