Power Steering Fluid problems of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

1 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. After driving 55 mph, the contact noticed fluid leaking from the power steering. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v455000 (steering). The contact also received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v755000 (exterior lighting) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000. 2 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2015

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer 360. The contact stated that the hard line to the rack and pinion fractured several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the rack and pinion three times, but the failure recurred. The independent mechanic stated that there was excessive fluid leakage causing potential steering difficulties. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic who replaced the rack and pinion a fourth time and the power steering pump. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a manufacturer's recall for the electronic power steering. The contact received a notice for NHTSA campaign number: 12v248000 (electrical system, visibility) but the part was not available within a reasonable amount of time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.
