2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2009

After our battery manifested a dead cell for the second time in 3 years I decided to do online research to see if any other 2006 Trailblazer owners had similar issues. I found a recall NHTSA campaign number 06v417000 concerning passenger side airbag sensor and aftermarket leather upgrade I contacted gm only to be told our VIN was not part of the recall. I proceeded to ask how a VIN could tell if we had aftermarket leather added by the dealer they said our VIN was not part of the recall nothing more. After calling another dealer I learned the 794 SUV's had the leather upgrades done by gm, not the dealers who sent them out to get leather installed. The remedy for the vehicles gm upgraded was gm purchased them back as no aftermarket leather was or is available that is compatible with the sensor in the passenger seat for the airbag. If this is such a safety concern why weren't the other Trailblazer owners who got aftermarket leather from the dealer notified of this are they liable shouldn't we get a notice of the safety concerns as well? still looking for answers and a resolution what can I do to make my vehicle safe for the front passenger??.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2009

I was operating my 2006 chevy Trailblazer when I slide on slippery pavement due to freezing rain. My vehicle began turning sideways then straightened out and bumped the left side curb parallel with my tires. Only the left side tires struck a 4" curb. Both right and left side curtain air bags deployed. The left one hit me in the side of the face and left shoulder. The impact with the curb could not have been at more than 10 mph. There is no damage done to my vehicle, the step bars, mud flaps and/or even a scuff mark on either of my tires. No one else was in the vehicle with me. Thank goodness my 1 yr old and 8 yr old daughters were not. This air bag deployment would have caused injuries to my daughters not a bump to a 4" curb. I have been driving for over 17 years and have only have one accident. I drive for a living and now I am terrified to take my girls in my vehicle. My car is not fixed and I have requested gm to do an inspection on the vehicle. Time will tell but I believe in safety but not in the name of failure.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving 30 mph, all of the side air bags deployed without a crash or impact. The vehicle was towed to the Chevrolet dealer and the diagnostic indicated that the vehicle was in a rollover state. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The vehicle was in good condition. The contact sustained minor injuries to the neck from the air bags burning her skin. The failure and current mileages were 26,000. Updated 12/30/08 updated 01/02/09.
