Engine Stall problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Two problems related to engine stall have been reported for the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the engine stalled and all of the warning indicators were illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who recommended the replacement of the ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

2 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2010

The gm ls2 engine installed in the Trailblazer ss models has a known oiling issue which causes the engine to be starved for oil and thus, spins a rod bearing. Being that the Trailblazer ss is a limited production vehicle, gm hasn't lifted a finger to recall or repair this design flaw. The problem only exists in the Trailblazer ss (not corvette or gto to my knowledge) due to a problem with the oil pan.
