12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

My ltz started shuddering at about 25-30mph @ around 130,000 miles. Check engine line is on sporadically. If you push the gas harder, it picks up and moves on. This seems to be the problem with many '09 models. There needs to be a recall/fix for this issue. We use this car only for family trips or big grocery trips. I'd hate to get rid of it. Paying $45,000 for a vehicle means it should last for a very long time!.

In December of 2017 as I was driving the car started to slow down while on a busy road and shut down. 2 separate mechanics are saying that it is the timing chain that has slipped a few teeth and caused damage to the engine. This is a safety hazard and the timing chain should not need to be replaced in that short of a time.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2017

This is in reference to the gm timing chain problem special warranty coverage # 11340. I brought my vehicle into the shop and they said it's over on mileage to get it fixed under the coverage. The concern that I have is what happens when this timing chain slips or breaks. The engine will lock up and could cause a crash. Gm knows about this problem with the timing sprockets being too shallow of a pitch. I called gm and they said there's nothing they can do to fix it under that problem. I was thinking this could be a problem for a-lot of people owning these vehicles. As far as my vehicle it's still in the shop waiting for an answer on what I want to do. They have to remove the engine to replace the timing chains. Thank you richard ackland.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

Driving down i30 at approximately 65 mph, vehicle slows down to 20 mph without any warning. The engine light came on soon after or maybe as the speed dropped. Shook me up luckily there was very little traffic and was able to pull over to the side. The vehicle was not shaking or showed no sign of damage other than it not wanting to go past 20 mph. The incident happened one exit away from the dealership where I get the vehicle serviced and decided to drive it there. I am being told by the dealership that the catalytic converter fell apart and damaged engine cylinders 3 and 5 so I will be needing the engine replaced. Do not know if the catalytic converter that failed was the one the dealership replaced in April 2014.

As I was driving going approximately 55 mph the park assist message appeared on the dashboard and then the car suddenly lost power. The gauges went to 0 and the radio and air conditioning went off. It then suddenly popped back on and 4 different warning lights came on on the dash (check engine, tire pressure, a decal with a lock and the passenger air bag light) and then off again. I pulled over and turned the engine off. When I attempted to start the car again it would not turn over. I attempted 2 times and on the 3rd time the engine turned over and the warning lights were off. The following codes came up when a computer diagnostic tool was plugged in approximately 30 minutes after the issue occurred. B2aaa, b2a00, p0008, po202 and u25e5.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

1st. My wife was pulling out of a parking spot and had to stop quickly, then when she proceeded to leave again by letting off the brake - the car rolled forward on a slight incline and hit the car parked next to her. When she removed her foot to the gas - nothing she could do to prevent this incident. 2nd. While in the drive position on a hill at a stop sign or traffic signal, I removed my foot from the brake. The vehicle began to roll back almost hitting the vehicle behind me. We further tested the vehicle on various hills/inclines both in drive and reverse and it continued to roll in the opposite direction of the engaged gear. Apparently, this is a characteristic of the automatic transmission on this vehicle, the service consultant at courtesy Chevrolet of orlando, said this is a flaw in the power train and theirs no known fix. He advised us not to drive it to the mountains if it were him. Since our SUV is for my vacations and primary use, we are very concerned for our safety. We can't afford another vehicle since we had saved up for the down payment for this car. I saw there are a lot of complains of the same case, it was mentioned until someone dies and/or the family files a lawsuit - no recall or action will be done to fix this! please help in address this issue. .
